  • win 7 pro x64, boot 10-20 seconds. 30gb ssd was about twice 20-30 on my hdd

  • @Dragon313035 i get about 10 seconds on normal HDD rofl

  • @fortinuex and i got a 1 terra.byte. hardrive rofl idk if people don't know how to use msconfig or what

  • For 1/3 less of a footprint I'll take a 20 second extra boot up time.

  • My XP is faster than yours

  • 1.?? ghz?!?!?!?!?!!? YOU CRAZY I ON 2002 laptop it has to giga hertz! U CRAZY MAN SLOW AS SHIT WITH XP nice vid tho

  • home premium rules

  • WTF?? My ibm 600X pent III 500 loads winxp after 1 minute 4 sec, after pushing power button!

  • word of advice.... never run Windows 7 on a pc with less than 2 gb of ram it will have some performance issues 2 GB is recommended, but at least 1 GB

  • try linux

  • Wow you got less than my GHZ i have 1.8 GHZ Windows XP Pentuim IIII 256 MB ram :(

  • What's with the gay music ?

  • xp is best

  • my xp is way faster on boot time than 7 is but 7 is faster at about everything else, even internet

  • Most boot times of any Windows version will not top Linux systems. Compare the boot speed of Ubuntu 10.04 to Windows 7 on any machine, it will run fast. I'd (quoting an earlier poster) throw the damn thing in the garbage if it took that long to boot. Check this out: running an old Dimension Dell with Linux... it took about a minute for XP to boot. Now, with Linux Ubuntu, about 10 seconds. Less on a good day. :D

  • LMAO!

If my system took that long to load I'd throw it in the garbage...

learn to setup and maintain your OS before using making claims noob!

  • seriusly...your computer sucks !!!

    1.6 GHz ???? 512 MB of RAM ????

in my laptop, in windows xp, the boot time was: 27 sec.

while in windows 7 I have now, the boot time is: 17 sec.

  • i'm using win7 ultimate now... :) 2 month ago i'm using winvista ultimate.. i can see the differences... win7 ultimate is powerfull!!!!!

  • IMO, the biggest problem with XP right now is security, because it's security model is very outdated (or one can argue that XP doesn't have have a security model at all). Windows 7, on the other, is much more secure by design, even in default configuration.

  • windows xp may not look better but it is the best operating system to have when it comes to speed and i have windows 7

  • @lamont7710 type msconfig into your google search and learn to use it maybe your windows 7 will boot in about 5 seconds like it should

  • XP's boot time in the video is slightly slower than the last time I ran XP.

As I can tell, XP had the edge on gaming performance, but was slow at video editing software.

Win7's boot time in the vid is the same as mine.

It's a great OS. Win7 is definetely recomended for everyone (with a pretty potent PC). It's good at games, has DirectX 10 (As Default!), runs great on Pinnacle Studio 14HD and is both rock-stable and easy to access.

  • there are two reasons for me to upgrade to win7. 64bit with Support for more ram, and dx11+ and its quite fast. Vista was a mess. but Win7 works just fine. I always try cracked ones before i decide if it´s worth buying. and as soon as my software for musicproduction works perfectly with win7 x64, i´ll buy it.

  • The XP seems a LOT slower than how mine is.

  • @missraw i now windows xp boots faster then windows 7 becouse it dont need to load areo and sidebar and all the other gadgits windows 7/ vista has to load

  • The more programs/data associated with an operating system slows it down, Win XP had a lot of programs, compared to 7.

  • windows xp for the fail, but you go ahead and use a 9 year old operating system build to run comander keen

    hahaha noobs

  • my xp starts up in 30 secs my channel for info

when i had my win7 before i got busted by windows it started up in 40sec to 1 min

  • how yu get busted? what dey do?

  • @WestWizzy they made my computer vunerable to any virus and any popup so as i go to like facebook or something i get like 20 popups and they said its not genuine so im like fuck this and reinstalled xp.

im back to my win7 pirated copy. i just dont install the update that made that happen

if ur gonna be using pirated versions then Dont ever install their updates without reading them knowing they wont catch u or anything

  • thats fuck'd

i installed the pirated AIO cope + i installed the updates nothin happed to me, but when installed the Genius update for xp SP3 the whole OS went black and i couldnt use it.

  • are you guys stupid look how much junk he had on his windows xp compututer and on his windows 7 machine he had nothing i bet he purposly made windows 7 win. But the truth is windows xp still blows windows 7 out of the water

  • I personally can't stay with XP, the compatibility on Windows 7 is far better, plus you can emulate XP under windows 7 either way... you'll never find a problem, but the option is there if you need it..

i upgraded for DX11 windows XP doesn't even support DX10 lmao

  • song name pls !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!%%%%

  • it says it in the video.......

  • @davidbball13 thank you

  • macbook....9 seconds.

windows 7 sucks. trust me i went through 3 months of hell.

  • true, I have both, but I still think that windows is better for many other applications

  • /watch?v=smoeEEfEc7E&feature=related

DX11 my friend.. full compatibility with any existing/future products.. can't go wrong

    windows 7 (Y)

  • 1 thing I noticed about Windows 7. Its fast on low end computers but you cant play some of the same games as you could on the same system with Windows Xp.

  • Not exactly fair though as you said in video. I have AthlonX2 3800+, 2Gig DDR, and a 7800GT, WITH CLEAN XP INSTALL, boot up time is less than 20seconds, from turning on puter, to being able to use it. As Vexun said: If you have more than 2gigs of RAM, u need a 64bit system anyhow, otherwise it will only see 2gigs of RAM while u might have more.

  • Also to all you xp fans out there, windows 7 puts xp to shame because with windows xp it wont use all of your power, it can only detect so much, get windows 7 64 bit and a good 4 gigs of ram and see the difference.

  • I would go crazy having to wait that long.. parts are so cheap no adays that its almost a waste not to upgrade, I just build a Athlon X2 5600+ 4gb ddr2 800 mhz 9800GT for like 250$ and I can run crysis on high, its worth upgrading so you can truly know the power of w7

  • how do I format window 7 to XP?

  • name of the song please.!

  • actually according to this video windows xp only took 58 sec. and Windows 7 really took 51 sec. which is only 7 sec. apart.

  • lol

  • im impressed that with that low of specs it can still boot faster than xp, wow. what im really interested in knowing is with a machine specs: 3.06ghz single core hyper-threaded intel cpu and 2 gigs of ddr2 667mhz ram, 256mb shared video mem(radeon xpress 200series integrated), would it worth switching for a gamer or would there be considerable performance loss. someone who can truly verify which would be better plz reply with an awnser, no hear say comments or guesses plz

  • i also never expect window 7 is faster than xp

  • Win7 = still Vista.

I agree that Default XP truly sucks and should never be used by anyone because it's slow and bloated. Just like

    Vista and Win7.

But XP PerformanceEdition September2009 is out and it's the fastest OS.

I boot my XP in 16s on P4 1,7 256M RAM 80G disk. It's done that for over a year now.

I wot even TRY Win7 until SP2 or SP3 is out. I'm more likely to try Xubuntu and see what WINE can do.

Btw, Microsoft say WindowsUpdate for XP ends April 2014.

  • On a computer like that wine will for the most part not run anything useful. And if there arnt any problems in the future they have no need to release a service pack 2 or 3. That has absolutely nothing to do with the performance of the machine

  • Microsoft Windows7 often crash during boot and when running. It seems it does indeed need a few ServicePacks to get performance fixed.

Somcetimes WINE is slower then XP but it's Linux underneath and that is always faster. Performance is fine.

Using Windows7 bloat on it wouldnt work though. Too slow.

  • wine sucks (thats a full review) and Win7 is REALLY worth the upgrade! it's faster in everything you do. you are right if you mean that the Win7 basic code is slightly different from vista's, but otherwise Win7 is very different from vista (i've used both)

  • Vista is NT6.0

    Win7 is NT6.1

    They are 99% the same.

    Yes, WINE sucks sometimes. And

Windows7 suck even more. Most programs runs best on XP.

  • did i say they were totally different? it doesn't look THAT different and it's still the same base (almost the same as windows XP, minor changes to the NT core) but the 1% tha t is different (i think it may be more) makes a real difference. the problems with win vista are well solved in win7. And about the "better runnig programs on xp": of course, windows 7 is really new. when windows XP was released, the most programs runned better on win 98. BTW: the newest programs are all compatible with 7

  • XP is bloatware. But Windows7 is obese-ware. We're talking fat that jiggle 5h hours after poking it :D

Windows7 cannot be un-bloated no matter what we do. XP on the other hand can work-out and get into shape.

XP can be safely trimmed to 500M disk.

W7 cant be trimmed below 1500M, and there's no time-proven testing to know if it's safe.

Programs will always run faster on XP since even Windows7sp3 will always jiggle alot.

Microsoft has coded themselfs into a huge messy corner of bloat.

  • the programs they write now are written for win vista and 7. let's talk in a year, when xp doesn't get any updates anymore and programs won't run anymore xp. (ever tried to install a new program on a pc with a very old OS? try it and see what happens.)

  • Microsoft say XP Updates ends April 2014. No need to suffer 4 years from new Win7 bugs when we already got XP working good enough. During these 4 years all programs and drivers will be written to work on XP.

4 years from now the Desktop belongs to Google Chrome and Linux. Only gamers will be stuck with Windows.

Perhaps Windows8 can replace XP someday :P

  • good luck, i know people who already have windows 7 for 3 months and they never had a bug with 7. and BTW do you really think that game companies stay with windows if everyone "has linux and chrome" and don't forget, there are still people who are against cloud computing, what google chrume is. and there are more then 1000 completely different versions of linux with all other applications extensions. "oh no! i bought the .lin version and i need the .stf version boohooo.

  • Aww, dont cry... There-there. Freedom of choice is scary for some people. Didnt mean to frighten you :P

Some people use DOS and havent seen any Bugs. Lucky bastards :D

Non-gaming Desktop users will eventually upgrade from WIndows to Chrome and Linux.

Some Gamers might stay with the Windows games.

I'm also against the Cloud. I want 100% control over my programs and my data.

That's why i added Linux as a Desktop replacent for WIndows.

  • If there would be 1 central executeble file extension for all linux OS, then we were finally getting somewhere although it'll still take time before that happens. I share your point of view about cloud computing, so chrome = out. I had linux for some time and i never used it because i couldn't do anything with it. I take the OS with the best compatability, and for now it's windows. I only had problems with windows vista, never with 7.

  • All programs works for all the bigger Linux distros. Just as there was lots of things to learn the first time i used Windows. There was new things i had to learn to use Linux.

There's even new things to learn when upgrading from Win7 to XP :P

Linux can do better. It's improving every day. Linux never takes steps backwards like WindowsME and Vista. And sidestep like Win7.

And New Linux upgrades never costs us anything :D

My favorites are XP and Xubuntu for the next years to come.

  • maybe i reinstall ubuntu during vacation, then i have some time to learn the basic.

  • @uuu64 windows 7 is much faster than vista, you can see any benchmark test. at hardware compatibility w7 it's perfect, i have tested it on a lot of notebooks, and none gave me BSOD, while in vista i had a lot of problems with hardware drivers. of course on your 256mb ram pc you can't run either of that, so xp is the best, but you can't compare the aero efects on w7 and with the whole user interface with an 8 years old windows

  • I found Aero distracting. I prefer the W95- look with my colors of choice. But it's just opinions, some find Aero nice, some like Mac. Or Ubuntu. Seems wierd to tell people what to use based on looks. Some prefer Compiz. I enjoy Evilwm because it gives me absolutly the biggest screen-space possible. Seriously small and extremly fast :D Once i learned the shortkeys there's no going back for me.
  • @uuu64 my windows 7 boots in 12 seconds with 250G disk

  • @uuu64 i gots 1.6ghz and 889.2 mb ram...XP made a jump/step in a year

  • should i go to windows 7?

    with my specs

    2g Ram

    1.6 ghz intel celeron m

    70g hard drive

and i graphic card doesn't support the aero thing.

  • maybe you can try win7 home basic, it's the version without aero.

  • yes

  • if graphics dowsn't support aero your w7 won't work too good. You will not be able to find any drivers for w7 on less than 128 video mem

  • lol i boot times is around 20 seconds...

i got windows xp performance edition

its small and fast as hell

  • They toured with Streetlight Manifesto. The concert was crazy....

  • you shouldnt have put any music it should have been natural

  • ,,continued windows 2000/xp will be no more...sure you can still run them, but when new viruses comes out and new programs come out... oh oh its not compatibilw

  • they are going to drop support for xp in what like in afew years they dont even sell it anymore, and vista it was like ME its going to be dropped soon, schools still use xp but they will be forced to go to 7 or nothing after support it gone, and you cant use recent programs on a os thats not supported, lets take a example of a older os, windows 2000 windows media player 10 incompatible, because they hardly support it anymore, they issue bi-monthly updates thats about it,

  • my friends vista boots in 2minutes...lol

  • my computer can boot it in 12 secs

  • what operating system and system spec?

    cause thats to fast.

20-30 seconds is fast is 12 seconds is unheard of

  • You're kidding right? My Windows 7 boots in about 15-20 seconds.

  • yo must be loaded with good things...

my computer is 3 years old and only a Intel Celeron m 1.6 ghz and 2 gb ram.

    so it sucks lol.

hoping to save up money for new one.

  • mine in about the same, usually closer to 15, and im on a 2 year old laptop o.O

  • You have a very poor computer, my computer boots XP in 20 secs

  • nice vid. appreciate it. just wish you could've tested on a system with at least 1gb of RAM

  • Was it XP Pro vs W7 Ultimate?

If not it hardly seems fair, and you installed them pretty far apart too.

    Music was gay...

  • Windows 7 the BEST!!!!

  • hahahah ur pc sucks.Mine win 7 boot finished in 20 second.

  • we cant stay with xp or vista forever, we are gunna be forced to upgrade at one point when microsoft drops support for windows xp completly and vista well still has afew years ahead before support goes away

  • New system always has a lot of problems! XP is still the best.

  • xp is awfull, bugs and errors and so hard to navigate, 7 is streamlined and fast, easy to navigate and 99% of everythign is plug in and it works with no drivers to install r anything, cant say the same for xp

  • my last night of xp pro 2001-2009

tommorrow my first day of windows 7 homepremium

  • Is this gay music really necessary?

  • Hey can you do me a quick favor....... and SHUT THE FUCK UP!

  • Hey can you do me a quick favor....... and get that dick out of your mouth?

  • Sorry when i said windows takes up to much space with the extras on the 1st step. I MEANT VISTA SO WHEN YOU READ WINDOWS ON DA 1ST STEP TAKE IT AS VISTA.

  • VISTA IS GAY. AND HERE I AM GONNA TELL YOU WHY STEP BY STEP.

    1. windows takes up extra memory for the nonsense extras for da newbies, which techniclly they dont even need.

    2. they put up a clock that says the time thats right aboce the clock that shows ur internet, virus protector, firewall, etc.

    3. vista is slower than xp, indeed becuz of da nonsense extras... and other crap on it.

    4. vista is just a newer thing that was made 4 laptops cuz laptops arent used for buissnesses... (sarcsim vce

  • This is not true. My XP Professional has only 15 gigs and it takes 16 seconds to boot up. Windows Vista and 7 are gay.

  • I don't really care about boot times. I don't sit at my pc switching the darn thing off and on all day. I spend it within the OS. It's all about performance within the OS. Win7 is definitely slower than XP in this respect.

  • if you dont know which one better then why dont you dual boot windows 7 and windows xp like i did

  • Thats what I did in this video

  • lol your way off

    windows xp boot up

    55 seconds

    windows 7 boot up

    50 seconds

5 second difference if i see something bigger i am sticking with the beast!!!

  • you were able to find all the drivers for the t41 that work in w7?

  • i cant get it.I want to install windows 7 on my pc but i cant seem to find out that which one is better win xp service pack 3 or win 7

  • LOL..XP doesnt Take 1 minute to bootup

takes only 20-30 secs for me

  • Look at the specs chachi

  • Who cares about your computer

  • Then why are you watching it kabernakis?

  • It wasn't you bro, I was replying to hyder7nh blabbing about how his computer takes 20 seconds to boot up. Damn YouTube not showing a post is a reply. When are they going to fix that?

  • Yeah thats always been fucked up

  • its not my fault

my computer got better configuration that yours

And if ur using Windows OS use

    Win 7 or Win xp

    Id prefer

Dual boot win 7 n ubuntu or win xp n ubuntu or win 7,win xp,ubuntu

  • no wounder ur shit looded so slow look at the desk top rere u have to do it when u have your computer like new

  • But none of it starts up. Their on the disk installed. Completely irrelevant

  • which windows I should choose XP or Windows 7 my spec are..

    C2D E2200 2.2Ghz

    2GB RAM

    8800GTS 320MB..

  • Windows 7. To bad though. Microsoft just stopped their open beta on their site a few days ago

  • Hi again,

Did you manage to repair your ibm t41(get a cd drive?)

I installed win7 yesterday and it takes a minute to load(and my ibm has 1,28GB of RAM)

  • Yeah I did I got a new cd drive off amazon for like 20 bucks. I just have XP on it right now. I'm thinking of putting 7 on it but I need more ram

  • lmao ur specs are so low.

  • I'm not complaining man. Got this thing for free.

  • i love Windows 7's boot screen , its so awesome :)

  • that meens 7 is beta! or not :I?

  • There is a release canidate for 7 out right now. I believe you can still download it for free of Microsoft's website.

  • what's the music

  • Fear Nuttin band- I feel your vibe.

Really good band, They went on tour with Streetlight Manifesto.

  • i also have ibm t41 and i would like to know if all hardware works in windows 7, because in vista there are no proper (i have some third party drivers) ati 7500 drivers.

In Linux you have to install xfree86 packages and remove fglrx then graphics will work quite good.

  • In all Linux flavors the video card has been very good. I've installed the regular proprietary one. Drivers are great in 7. I don't run it any more though

  • Yeah the drivers work fine. I just installed Xubuntu 9.04 on my t41. and The drivers work fine, I did not have to install any other drivers.

  • wow...thats wierd.

my XP boots up at around 15-20 seconds....

  • What are you're specs?

  • i have a Dual Core and 2GB of RAM. wanna know the rest?

  • just wondering. This is a old computer

  • i have t43 i like the thinkpads solid build. and bettery life. but i dont get the boot up. must be because of the drivers. even when i have nothing starting up. still lags, if you have any ideas let me know

  • Yeah I have a T41 and an old T22. I don't know. I love thinkpads so much but I also them for having an ATI video chipset. It make running linux 10x harder. I want to do a revamp on my t41. Max out the ram to 2 gigs put a 160gig hdd in.

  • why does xp start so slow on the t40 series?.... it also has to do with manufacture. i have a dell 4700 which is about 4 years old now. 2.79 ghz. 1 gb ram. pentuim 4. and xp boots in about 25 secs. thats from boot to desktop so thats pretty good.

  • Yeah I don't know. I only have 512mb of ram. I was booting from the OS chooser

(I don't know the name of it for windows but the equevlent of GRUB for linux

  • it is ntloader

  • Not it is not. It is the Windows Master Boot record loader.

  • mine got screwed and in recovery console i reinstalled NTloader which is boot loader Windows MBR is being loaded by it :D

    And again: What's the music?

  • Fear Nuttin band- I feel your vibe.

  • I f you want something really extremely fast, download microXP-it works like a charm on my T41(boot time is under 30 seconds and i have a lot of crapware on my PC)

If you'll install it then remember this: shift+key above F11 to disable Num Lock.

  • Hey thanks man, At the moment I don't have a working CD drive in my t41. So I'll try to do it through usb. I'm running Xubuntu right now on it.

  • mine drive also got screwed a few months ago, but i bought a used drive for 10 euros ;),

just remember that you have to buy ibm's cd drive because of ibm's "special" connector(ultrabay or something like that),

mini pata CD drives won't fit in

  • vista= 2 minutes!!! lol

  • once win 7 is realesed, I'm buying it

  • I don't know if I will be buying. I'll torrent it eventually.

  • Yes I know...when it's released...It will cost upwards of 700$ and I know it...just wait for it to go down or torrent it....

  • actually windows 7 boots in less than 20 seconds

  • This is on a very very old computer.

  • Yep, this is good - why Microsoft couldn't do this before with the Vista release is something else but looks well done. Microsoft should give Windows 7 as a feature-pack for Vista users.

  • win7

    better version then xp!

we can finally say it surely

  • Yes. I love it, I am still running it now.
