@michaelpilot1000 You are right, of course. As written in the intro text this was the maiden voyage where Roland checked the vessel for the first time. In modeling this is a quite normal process to build the boat as light as possible. When in water you can add ballast at the right spot in the right amount to get her to the waterline and keep it in balance. By now she lays just perfect in the water and it is a pleasure to pilot her.
It was the maiden voyage or better the shipyard test drive. Therefore the ballast was not in yet. The advantage with models compared to the full size is, that you can do this easily, place the batteries and stuff where you most like it and to the final balancing afterwards.
As of this, your comment was fully right and in the end she was beautifully running on WL.
Many thanks for your kind words and I count it as an extraordinary compliment as most hobbits never saw a boat in their whole life (except for the brandybucks af as I recall) and therefor feel quite a discomfort with water, boats and the sort. ;-) (any Tolkin expert might correct, thanks).
Yes! Just try it. You will see it is great fun constructing such a vessel. This model kit is unfortunatelly no longer available but there are plenty other great kits. I personally like the ones from Billing Boats (now sold by Robbe), for example the "Andrea Gail" seams really nice and quite comparable to the "Sagitta Bergen". Just search the internet for RC Model Andrea Gail. I am sure you might find this kit in Australia too.
Well spotted, you are right! This was a trial cruise from Roland here. As a matter of fact no ballast at all was added at this time. You see from this, that there is plenty of room and buoyancy to add technical gear for any special functions. In the meanwhile Roland balanced the vessel nicely and the water line does fit perfectly by now. This also affects the total speed as the vessel has more resistance in the water now.
thats sweet if i ever get a boat like that i want to put the pole of an ice fishing rod on the back and have the line connected to a small moter to pull up small fish...i would try 4 a small fish 1st and c how it works...
Hi Vasilios 11. As written in the video info text it is a model kit from ROBBE but from around 1985. This model here in the video unfortunatelly is not for sell. It might be best if you check the various Internet action platforms. From time to time real 'pearls' can be found their (I just managed recently to buy a new kit for an already 'undeliverable' Graupner JetStar).
But many thanks again for your dignifying comment!
cool. thumbs up bro

Needs ballast. Rides too high and heavy on the bow.
I know, I skipper real Trawlers in life.

The boat looked like it was listing over slightly. Grate boat still

IMO looks a bit too fast and too light. I would add weight a the bottom to lower the CG and drive it slower.
Apart from this, looks great.
