kraid was meant to be in metroid prime and was meant to be in the phazon mine in his own section. He wasn't replaced with omega pirate. He didn't appear due to how long it would have made the game story line and if i remember correctly he was the last thing being produced before they released the game so they just left him out when time got short.

@shadowmario23 on wikitroid, they say that Kraid wasn't replaced by the Omega Pirate. he just never made it to the final game, just like the screw attack. but it seems like they never made the deadlines on metroid, theres a lot of easter eggs(thats what glitches are right?) and if you play the game a lot, it almost seems like the hint system was a last minute thing. if you ask me, i think the developers wanted sequence breaking since you can, its not linear like Fusion.

@DarkGaara2007 You got it somewhat right, but Omega Pirate was suppose to be the boss in Magmoor Caverns and Meta Kraid was at Phazon Mines, where Omega Pirate is today. they were going to make you get the phazon suit, which Omega Pirate guards, before you could enter Phazon Mines, and Meta Kraid would guard the Screw Attack. As what you said, due to the game's deadline coming up, they couldn't add in Meta Kraid in time, thus removing him. If meta kraid was in the game, i'm sure it would be10/10
