  • make £28k a year??? Yeah if you work a 72 hr week fk that for a game of soldiers

  • I'm interested in doing this, any course in Nottingham?

  • Load of crap , Security 10 years experience. Cctv and door supervisor holder. Now a musician :@)... Your lucky to get even close to 18k a year @ 50hrs+, Just a classic stealth tax by the home office

  • The job is seriously not worth it, XMas eve 2004, a colleague gets glassed in the face and has to have life saving surgery, his poor mother learns of her sons trouble XMas morning, Lucky he was ok and lived to tell the tale.

Now is that worth it? £28,000 is comical and if you are one of the lucky few that find regular work not just a weekends but during the week then you may earn good money, but NOT £28K

    pop-campaign.co.uk/

  • @TIAGroup what happend to your colleague?

  • @stealth1692 He came back a better Doorman, even became a Head doorman with a team of 9 guys, he now has a kid so he's got into something else. thanks for asking

  • @TIAGroup no problem did they catch the person who glassed him in the face?

  • @stealth1692 Yep, he got jumped on by loads of door staff at the time, so he didn't get away, he got two and a half years.

  • 28,000 a year, have a laugh. The security industry is the worst paid job for what you do, and the dangers that you could face.

Most Door work is part time and due to these hours you don't get paid that much.

Unfortunately there are too many FAT cat security company bosses out there earning way too much money sat on their ass whilst you work.

This isn't a well paid industry, I know from 15yrs experience.

  • They have doorman at mcdonalds and gregs in my city most nights.. Lol

  • @MrJonnyboy73 Lol they have a doorman in the McDonalds in the town centre where I live!

  • @StreetTaggerUK ... same, i work security for an unlce jims kebab house and for a favorite chicken shack as well... what town you live in?

  • Doubt will slag me off 4 sayin this but I really don't care. It's our safety n punters safety these idiots r putting at risk by letting any1 join.plus am sure for the 1's that have worked a good few years will also agree we r getting less money now than we were 10 15 years ago n more!get 17hour now n used 2 get from 20 to 25 back then Thanks sia! I mean I now of places sia approved agencies payin £7 an hour if ur willing to work for that fook off n work mcdonalds or work mother care etc we don'

  • @turbotoma i agree i'd rather see the public safe from crooks and thugs on the doors, but the Trouble is i don't agree with the Course Fees and application Fees, it's expensive alot of people can't affird it unless the Job centre Help out, for example secuirty Guard Course £150 pounds 3 days, and after you need to apply for your licence through (Sia) and extra cost £245 and CCTV licence another extra £180 and another £245 so Basicly it's nearly £900, so its hard job bloggs working already !

  • Sia allows absolute mugs on the doors when they shouldn't be anywhere near a door I mean look at the bunch just interviewed WOW! I know all u guys that have worked in this industry for some time will agree that the sia really messed things up 4 us,they r a joke n so is half these new idiots getting badges not all of u but u know who u r who shouldn't b working n no dou

  • doing wing chun for 11 years, really enjoyed doing this for free under the job centre looking forward to the practical day may be learn some nice simple restraints.

  • Was gunna have a go at this...but since every comment on here is against the SIA licence i dont think i will bother. Thanks people for saving me alot of money, time & hassle.

  • did my door training with get licenced. never in my entire life have i witness such poor custumer service.

  • im doing this and first aid course and the princes trust are paying for it

  • bottom right hand corner.......(physical intervention) you dont learn any of that.........this vid is propoganda

  • the (Sia) is ready to be scrapped from 2012, and phased transition to the new regulatory regime announced by Government. people Might not have to do exams anymore just training, it will be replaced by something much better i hope and get people back to work 'ASAP' the (Sia) rejected thousands of applications and gave licences to many who shouldn't of been given a licence, i hope things get better and people get Jobs faster who deserve it

  • The big lie with the SIA is that they were going to make their renew prices £90 still much more then the real cost of processing a renew.

SIA is a big con which likes taking money from people who earn a low wage. Whilst people who I am supposed to protect are earning £100.000 a year at 8 hours at a time I must work 12 hours (56 hours a week) just to earn close to £24.000.

They say its to make the public safe. Security officers are members of the public too...

  • The SIA is being scrapped!! Bye, Bye you thieving b......s Taking advantage of people that need the security industry as a second job or full time and making them pay over 300 quid for some bull little badge and a course that aint worth anything.

    You got what you deserved..!

  • hi ive just passed my training, then been reading up on the criminal checks and was wondering ive had three fixed penalty fines in the last 2 years for drunk and disoredely, will this stop me from being allowed a licence?

  • @mozzmarket most likely, the sia are pricks of the highst standard

  • @beer779 I'm doing the course next week and would like any information that would help me too please.

  • anyone can become sia licened, its a joke, little weak looking men half my height that cant even talk english propley are doing it so anyone can.

they should rather hirer someone that looks the part, theifs laugh at them

  • just finished my sia training had to do two tests feel certain i have passed but dont know, luckily did the test before the sia make it three tests :(

  • @1mickeygreeneyes The test is easy to pass by anyone with no real fuss which is exactly why the SIA is a con. £245 to process your license when the real costs are £40. That is £205 tax on each person wishing to work in the low paid and long hour shit job called security.

    Complete bullshit.

  • Just done my SIA course and would recommend it.

    It was good fun.

  • The sia's a joke ran by the ex head of vauhall motors..what doe's that cunt know about Door work....you get one caution or conviction and youre fucked ...I'am purebred English white trash...and all I want to do is go to work and earn a living and these cunts won't give me a badge because I have a caution in the last 18 months...talk about labours welfare state.

  • @countrywideboy no its called being official, Sia used to be for hardmen bullies but we live in a country where we dont tolerate scum. They dont want people with cautions or convictions because it means less lawsuits when employing people who do it so they can feel tough and push people around

  • plz cud u reply if ur a doorman or have been.

what it is ive always be intrested in becoming a doorman for yrs since i was at school but i was just wonderin, if ppl will take me serious

what it is im 18 i was just wonderin if clubs look for older and doorman who have been doing it for yrs..things ive seen in doorman b4 is good builds and from going gym for yrs i have a good build and no how to take care of myself ( im not being clever or big headed) so if you know cud u plz reply thank you

  • hi mate it is not the size of your body but your brain, if you have good awareness and have a good working knowledge of how to talk to people with a confident manner then any company will take you on, get with a good crew so if the shit hits you know you will be backed up, goo luck its out there man.

  • @madmanbehindye well said mate totally agree.

  • if i want to get train in CCTV training do i still have to train on door supervision?

  • no you dont different type of security jobs, the door supervisor entitles you to work in security, the cctv then entitles you to work in monitoring the security side of things

  • @angolanchico yes

  • hi ive gota criminal record for weapons and assult 5 years ago. can i still get the licence?

  • Comment removed

  • i would think not due to the conviction but show the sia that you want to work in the industry and show how long you can stay on the right side of the law, like a probation period i would strongly recommended you talk to a professional sia teacher

  • it takes ages for your badge to get here, with the security badge it only took 1month but with the door badge iv been waiting ages now still ay got here, they need to send it quicker

  • i done my sia training sent off for my card for a door supervisor and recived a close protection badge (CP) so thankyou sia youve made my day till i renew it

  • My badge took 9 months just to renew it, the Sia screw you over as much as they can, they don't do their jobs properly and don't realize they mess with peoples livelyhoods by taking their time.

Messege to the Sia: SEND THE BADGE! its not hard to post.

  • Whilst on the course I was able to obtain additional qualifications at an additional cost of £100 for both courses. Appointed First Aid and intensive Training Certification, Some added qualification to add to your C.V. Intensive Training remember your camera phones and use them to take videos of the example that the instructor shows you. First aid I found very useful your never know when you may need it. Well Ill leave it there dont want to bore you any questions let me know

  • In each exam you need to obtain 70% and you need both to pass. An example of one of the common sense questions is "When is a Door Supervisor allowed to Drink alcohol whilst working at a venue" The Answer "NEVER" not on your Birthday etc. Some on the thing which you will need to learn is Fire Extinguishers for an example "What colour is a CO2 Extinguisher" Answer "Black", The second exam is about how to deal with a confrontational situation you will be taught what you need to know

  • Now the training, Lets start with the exams because that what matters to obtain the your Licence. Every thing else yet useful you will practice once in employment. There are two exams but dont panic they are multiple choice and you have 1 Hours for each exam just take your time, most people who fail either miss read question's or miss out a line. The first exam covers "Roles and Responsibilities of Door Supervisors" and the second exam covers "Conflict Management for Door Supervisors"

  • @Pjwynn "If you require 2 licences your second one is at a discount at a cost £122.00"

Wow such a discount... Please knock me over the head and take my wallet. At least I can hold onto some dignity instead of accepting this day light robbery. No plastic card will ever cotst £122. Maximum cost is £10 for the plastic card and £10 for a criminal check. The rest is simply TAX because the SIA think security officers are rich people.

  • door supervisors are on alot more than £245 a month!!!! so i dont see how its daylight robbery. its £245 for it, then it lasts for 3 years and you have to re new it!

  • they didn't do any physical intervention exercises in OUR training lol.

  • I will never pay for that license and so dont work for anyone. And if you want to work the doors say maybe just once or twice a week (as the majority do), you have to pay the same as someone who does the job full time, all the time??

No, no that just aint reasonable.

  • sia training, stealing up to 4 weeks worth of work every 3 years, working as a door supervisor...

Someone realized they could make some money here from people who do this hard job by making up an "authority" body and charging you daylight robbery for your badge and training when a few years ago it was all free.

Where would you pay to work for a month in an everyday job, you wouldn't!!

And they wonder why there is door supervisor shortages.

    Headdoorman of 7 years experience......

  • you must be working in a very cheap place ..u wrote that u have to pay £245 for a 3 year license which happens to be ur months salary. ur working for peanuts or someone is misinforming you.
