  • Just because this isn't Mick singing does not make it bad. This is a Daltrey twist on a Stones song and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Well done Roger.

  • fucking awesome!

  • Amazing drummer!

  • When Roger started doing his mic twirling in the 70s it was pretty cool. It was novel, spontaneous looking, and brought intensity and showmanship. But to still be doing it 30 years on... it just looks like a gimmicky joke. It looks ridiculous. I actually want to laugh out loud. You don't see Townshend bashing his guitars or amps anymore, or the band blowing up drumkits. I think it's time Roger dropped the microphone theatrics.

  • jesus, this is really bad, Roger never was the greatest aspect of the Who

  • Man, it's a man's song, love roger .

  • Dreadful.

  • I feel sorry for the orchestra - playing nothimg more than background for a simple rock song

  • Was there ever a more beautiful man?

  • 0:11... EPIC MIC SWING!!!!!!!!!!!

  • roger and kieth,would be a good joust,micks a pussy!

  • roger and kieth,would be a goodjoust,micks a pussy!

  • Well done Roger. As always.

  • You cannot compare The Who and The Stones, they are two totally different bands..they both rock!

  • Nobody could ever front the stones but Mick, this guy sounds like a cheesy lounge singer get the fuck out of here! Mick is the blue print for what a rock and roll frontman should be! The greatest of all time bar none!

  • @humanfarm "this guy" is the singer of The Who. If you don't know The Who, you should!!

  • im 23 and i love roger daltry

much better than music of today

  • the rolling stones are so much beter

  • love the Gibson acoustic guitar,,,,

  • I always thought Roger would have been a much more powerful frontman for the Stones than Jagger, and here's my proof! He makes Mick sound like a karaoke singer here!

    JAGGER NEVER, DALTREY FOREVER!

  • beautiful Rog!!!

  • A bit cheesy this version is, but don't take nothing away from Daltrey. He looks great and still has a very powerful voice. Perhaps the best preserved voice of the 60's front men.

  • nStreet fighting man with an orquestra? That's pretty lame...

  • Love The Who but this anthem is not a fuckin show tune

  • I'm Stones through and through have been all my life [52] but credit where credits due, Daltrey as on helluva voice and nails this.

  • @tismick I agree that he sounds decent here. However, I cannot stand this trend with many of the popular acts from the 60 and 70s of using huge horn sections, back up singers, and other big band and orchestral type elements during their live shows. It's one of the main reason I don't even bother seeing acts like the Stones and The Who anymore.. The bass-lines, guitar riffs, and melodies that define most of these great classics songs sound washed out by the cacophony in the background.

  • hes actually still kinda buff!!!!! MY HERO

  • Nope.

Only the Stones can do this.

    Check out Wembley '73 bootlegs.

  • just to clue you in - that is SimonTownshend not pete on guitar and John Entwhistle is not the player in tie dye.

  • Daltrey's singing is great. But this rendidtion needs less strings and horns and more of Pete's guitar. He should have used an electric for this.

  • OK...I love both the rolling stones and the who...but let's see Jagger sing anywhere near this good in 99, or any other time in the last decade...thing is, in roger's case "time is on my side!", his voice is still useable, while mick's is basically gone...but vocal power isn't everything, look at Dylan, or Neil Young ...they're gods, and neither of them could pull off a scream like Jagger or Plant or Daltrey...cause they don't need to...

  • don2768 You're inane comments are the most immature, pathetic crap I have ever read. Crawl back under your rock.

  • John Entwhistles guitar player in the Tie Die

  • @cjf799 totally wrong wipe your dick man theres piss on your front

  • Only the stones could do this song!

  • Amen.

  • What the christ are you talking about don2768? The Who fill stadiums and large arenas just like the Stones and the songs are far more complex that anything the stones wrote. I love both bands, but you, sir, are full of shit.

  • You and ubacam must be Pete Townsend's bed buddies, you two really take my comments very personal, as if I was attacking your wife. You two better becareful, they still haven't found a cure for AIDS.

  • Ah, the old "you must be a homo" retort. Very good don2768, you are indeed a clever man. How about you back up your assertions rather than questioning sexual orientation?

  • Wow, what an asshole... Is there something you want to share with the forum about your sexual orientation that perhaps you haven't yet admitted to yourself?

Come on man, let it out... we are all here to support you.

  • Yeah yeah, whatever fuck face. I just wish you would quit cluttering up my email box, I get enough junk mail as it. As far as my sexual orientation goes, ask your sister, she can tell you all about it.

  • Hi there Don2768,

I asked my sister and funnily enough, she does remember you - which is odd since she is a dyke. I guess there really are a few things you haven't shared with the group.

  • I know she's a dyke, I'm the one that made her that way. After I shoved my dick down her throat, she said if every man's dick is big as mine there's no way she can continue to be straight. Which was fine with me, she was a lousy fuck anyway. Now we know your sister is a dyke, what have you not told us about the rest of your family?

  • you obviously don't pay attention because your attention span compares to that of a nat. If you are going to criticize something good, at least put some research into why you think so, and secondly, if it sucks so bad, then why do you listen to it. People who are like you (and by that I mean ignorant pricks) should put some thought into their criticism

  • this is by far the best cover of the stones street fighting man in my opinion!

  • Daltry sings this as if it's show tune, dial up the attitude Rog

  • Zak's a MUCH better drummer than his Daddy was!

  • I love how he spins the mic, I hope he does it at the superbowl. Its a really cool talent.

  • friggin Daltry will sing forever! The fuking best!

  • if only mic had a voice like daltry !!

  • I'm not liking the music so much but Roger's really good as usual. Probably one of the best covers I've heard so far.

  • Comment removed

  • Only Rod Stewart fucked this song up more than Roger Daltrey.

  • DALTREY could sing better than JAGGER if he had Laryngitis!!! lol

  • Prusso...you're an idiot

  • I agree!

  • The Who--Started way back as the Confederates, then the Scorpions then the Detours.Got Moon from the Beachcombers.1964 became the Who but stayed on Fontans as the High Numbers.Shal Talmy made them.Moon based his drums on Viv Prince who played on Who recordings The Who were all .booked at gigs where mods and rockers kicked it off.Rodger hated Moon, and was nearly replaced by Kenny Pickett from the creation.Jess Roden sang on Who recordings.Moon got £40 for his last UK tour.Covered the damage!!

  • Daltrey was never a mod--they just jumped on the bandwagon!! Try listening to the Creation or The Action- real mod bands, how do I know-I was there.I saw the Who live many times-Watford Trade Hall-California Pool-Marquee-Small Faces were THE mod band. The WHO,just a load of chancers and they were rubbish live.Best thing about them was the OX-best bass player that ever lived.

  • The Who were admittedly MODS for about a week as that was what management wanted. But Mods identified with them regardless of the fact the band shed that image and created the greatest live rock &roll act in history.

  • The best thing about the Who is....Everything!!!!! Pete..greatest songwriter,guitarist,performer..Keith...greaest drummer...Roger...great singer..OX...Greatest bassist...which make the Who...Greatest Band of All Time..

  • The whole point of this tour was to present Rock classics in a different light...anyone buy the program?...I believe the show was split into 4 "suites" covering the progression of R&R...there was obviously some weakpoints in the shows ( particulalry at the first show in Denver - the orchestra was off and the back up singers very nervous ) but all was FORGIVEN when Roger rocked the house with a mim-Who set at the end...Looking forward to next months solo excursion!

  • Jagger is an ageing drag queen...Daltrey is a streetfighter..still..but, you know this version isn´t good...unispired playing..with a good band, roger Voice would suit better to this classic..The stones lost their live-quality 20 years ago..The Who would blow them off the stage anytime..

  • Jagger stills Rock out a crowed of people of 1/2 mill.and Keith Richards is still alive -the 2 members are dead Joens -n- stewart-they start the Stones they are still alive and rocken -Wymamm will tour with them to say good bye

  • @towser06 your mothers an aging drag queen

  • @bizarroface ahh, you know her? :-)

  • this is fukin pisspoor im a number 1 stones fan and love the who aswell but this is jst weak

  • Even if he's far from his "Live At Leeds" greatness, Daltrey still has some balls in his singing! Jagger is sadly more about dancing and making faces nowadays. Still love the Stones live though.

  • COME ON----NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE STONES--JAGGER IS THE GREATEST--nice try though

  • The Who are the greatest band of All time....period. This is a great song, though.

  • I don't like the musical arrangement on this one. But hey, take the Stones' live version, replace Jagga with Roger Daltrey and it will cause real, proper Disturbance!!

  • such a great version that it toatally kicks the stones's ass, their version doesnt even come close to this one and personally, i think, daltrey's voice can top jagger's voice any day, jagger didn't even have a diverse and wide range like daltrey did, if u listen to songs like baba o' riley and won't get fooled again, u'll know what i'm talking about

  • Decent cover - Roger has a clean sound, and a much wider range than Mick.

Stones own the attitude on that song though.

And yes Roger was a rough boy growing up. Dug the blues, dressed as a mod, but could scrap. Pete and the others knew this about him when they bought him on board.

Roger mellowed with age. I like his style - decent guy

  • People just don't like things that are bit diffrent! Roger is a God!

  • Interesting, and listenable. But I find it a bit too clinical, too clean, too mannered. Lose the orchestra, reinstate Bobby Keys, and regain the sense of danger and risk that the Stones provided, and then you got soemthing, kids.

  • I like how they weaved the ending of Won't Get Fooled Again into this one.

  • yea that was cool

  • Roger kicks Jagger's ass on this song. Greatest frontman ever!!

  • Roger the greatest singer in rock and certainly the greatest frontman!

  • Comment removed

  • Very nice, dare I say I like this more that the orignal. Does anybody know the name of this concert, and if it is on dvd?

  • Roger blows away Mick Jagger!! Just search on The Stones and listen to their version. No comaprison!!!!

  • Love Roger Daltrey. Beautiful man, beautiful voice, beautiful in every way.

  • i like the who,

    i like the stones,...

but, ¿what i'm think that this song suck?

  • fantastic singer

  • i like the who

    who ?

    the fucking who mate !

  • Unlike Mick, Roger actually knew how to fight....

  • @cabstronaut and unlike roger, mick knew how to be a great frontman and write his own songs

  • @cabstronaut He had a reputation for being quick to use his fists his whole life. I remember reading news accounts of him hitting people back in the seventies. Everyone knows he knocked out Pete Townshend. A lot of people DON'T know that he also punched out Keith Moon. Truth.

  • no joke! Roger is looking mean man!

  • Always has. Always will. Rog does a good job of interpreting the Stones. Hell, he sounds great singing anyone's song! A true professional as far as lead singer's go. And one of rock's 5 best of all time, HANDS DOWN.

  • roger sure as hell looks better then jagger these days and i think he sounds better too

  • ehy the who also cover rs song?

  • Awesome stuff! Roger is god!

  • well said!

  • That tie dye shirt is Awful! In fact All tie dye shirts are Awful!

  • Great!

  • This would've been beter w/out the 'big band' sound but it's very interesting. Love the Who and Stones (moreso the Who). Unlike Mick, Roger is an ACTUAL 'street fighting man' so he can back it up, haha. Cool version but I prefer the original

  • UR FUNNY!! MSG me on M.S.N.

    umm LOL wierddddddDdd YX

  • Roger does a good job on this one, but its a Stones song and although I'm a Who fan, the stones version is better, although Zak on the drums kicks a** form the orginal version, which aint hard! :-)

  • Daltrey kicks major ass on this one. Sure, nobody can top the Stones, blah, blah, blah, but Rog really reinvented this song and made it fit his style, not Mick's. And yes, Daltrey could kill nijas with his mic, hell Chuck Norris too.

  • I diden't know this singer, is not bad. nobody can equal to rolling stones!! I repeat, is not bad

  • He sings for "The Who"

  • Heck, it's Roger "God" Dalrey!

  • yessssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!

  • roger daltrey could probably kill ninjas with his microphone swinging attacks (1:40)

  • Love it by Stones but this is pretty bad too. I just respect the music and let them all play it and play it well.....

  • SWING THAT MIKE, ROGER! BOOYAH!

  • daltrey's voice is perfect for this song

  • Way better than the Stones.

  • WHAT?!!?!

Better? Ehh I am a huge 'Who' fan..but I wouldn't say this is better. At parts, Daltrey sings it a bit weird "In a sleeeepy Londown town..." Ehhh you get the point. But my point is, they can't match that song the Stones did in the 60's. i mean this cover is OK at best. But the Who still rule tho! :)

  • Roger still good as ever!! and sexy as hell!

  • is that simon townshend on acoustic guitar?

  • i don't know; but it sure looks like it.

  • Great version. Love the orchestra. Reminds us that rockers and symphonies can get down together. Also, Zak Starkey is badass!

  • ok, my favorite band is the Who....but I really really like the original song way better. And I simply don't understand the orchestra in the background. I understand that when someone re-does a song they try to make it their own little version but this to me...just sounds bad. I don't mind it, but not a well done version by Daltrey in my opinion.

  • Anybody know if Daltrey's ever whacked someone in the head with the mic?

  • hes accidently let go of it twice on stage, there is a video of it on here somewhere

  • theres an interview on here, were he said he smacked a guy with it for tossing a coin at him at the royal albert hall

  • I love the Stones version but I've got to admit that Daltrey's powerful voice does justice to the song.

  • I like it

  • All you 'critics' miss the point of what was trying to be accomplished here...opening ears to music...saving music...no it's not Mick & the boys doing SFM or SMU but it's other artists working with young musicians to expand and broaden their musical horizons. What show could anyone go to in one night to support youngsters trying to broaden their musical interests while seeing Daltrey, Cooper, Brooker, Starkey et al do Beatles, Who, Zep, Floyd, Stones music???

  • exactly, you took the words out of my mouth, hes not trying to be mick jagger!...you gotta love youtube comments..lol!..yet we still keep readin'

  • Is that son of Moon?

  • Nope. Ringo Starr's son, Zak Starkey

  • roger sings this well

  • great..mixture of the stones and who dynamics, best o brit...wont get fooled again..like to see ultimate rock symphony in aust at colonial stadium ,roger ,alice, frampton ,paul rodgers, billy thorpe billy sang the best version of ruby tuesday has any one got it audio will be fine....?? rest in peace billy thorpe...in oz Rock In Peace...

  • i dont get the orchestra. i mean, am i wrong, or does this NOT rock? vox are fine tho.

  • You're not wrong, this does not rock. I don't get the orchestra and I don't get the guitars either. They killed it.

  • Horrible guitars

  • What's up with that lame, off-key sax solo mid-way through? Ugh!

  • it did sound a little funny. a little too jazzy for this song

  • The best rock and roll front man!

  • I agree! Long live the Who!!!

  • Zak, you did your Dad proud. Incidentally I agree with hz11287, Roger is, in my opinion, the best rock vocalist ever (although Freddie probably had the edge with his showmanship! I also saw Jagger at Wembly a few years back and the sheer energy of the man has to be seen to be believed)

  • Yeah Zak Starkey's got his father's time keeping abilities on the kit. Dare I say Zak's better. Right on the dot, never leaves the pocket. And such a supple technique he has too! It looks he learnt and applied the Moeller technique. Nice open sound he's got.

  • i luv U roger

  • Great clip, especially the fiddles! Roger Daltrey excellently performing "Street Fighting Man".

  • Zak really liked that one. Yup.

  • Zak Starkey's an awesome drummer, definately living up to his father's name. He's still not as good as Keith though :P

  • Bloody ell hz11287 are YOU Roger Daltery!

  • C'mon, Don't forget the singer in this video. He's still so handsome, talented and in my opinion the best rocker singer in the world.

  • I saw Zak in 1997 and twice in 2006 with The Who. If his father wouldn't have been so famous, Zak could easily put him out of work ;-)

  • Not only is Zak a great drummer but he is FINE as hell!!! What a great band...even without Pete but please don't tell him I said that.(laughing)

  • I love these guys....

  • Great one..thx!
