@ZDST The later SMT games share the same art and are just as amazing, if not more so (ie: Hitoshura). That is unless you're talking about the spin offs (such as Persona 3 or Devil Survivor). Really, the best designs in the spin offs are from Avatar Tuner and the Devil Summoner series. In any case, all demon designs are handled by Kazuma Kaneko, and they are absolutely awesome regardless of which era its carried in from.
@ZDST The colored and surreal is still Kazuma Kaneko, who does every canon SMT design. The distinct and surreal nature of the art is a major part of his improvements as an artist, combined with far more detail and color dynamic. It is uncanny and amazingly obtuse while still being slick and, at times, playful. It is a total slap in the face to every Tetsuya Nomura wannabe, Magna Carta rip-off, and every stupid shounen manga character design. SMT deserves this art.
@fabienporay No kidding, man...I think the snes version sounds best. PSX sounded like it used better (more realistic) instrument samples, but this is a piece of music that really transcends conventional music standards. It brings about the feeling of hopelessness...but it's so high energy at the same time. What a feeling...
@cjiwakura Due to his last big work being for Soul Hackers back in 1997. It was an over-reaction. I hadn't realized that him going freelance would also mean he could return to oversee other sound-tracks (such as the case with IMAGINE).
lol the characters are way more attractive on the snes

Am I the only guy who thinks the artwork on the SNES cover is better than the later SMT games' artwork?

@UltimaLuminaire Well, I wasnt sure if it was the same artist or not, but I generally prefer the more detailed nature of the SNES art.
I like the current SMT artists work, and his style is very distinct, however its a very flat colored and surreal kind of look.

Agh, it hurts to listen to this knowing that we'll never hear work from Tsukasa Masuko ever again. T_T
