What serious PC gamer doesn't have a dual analog stick gamepad? I am amazed that people still think PC is a keyboard and mouse only, when it has NEVER been.
I tried this on xbox, hated it. WAY too many things on screen all at once to pay attention to and I had a problem locking on to things with the multi-missile.

Yar's Revenge!
My recollection of Yar's Revenge when I was a kid in the 1980s (I must be about Mark's age) is that I did not think much of it, but maybe that is because it was an "original title" and not an arcade port. Mark's review has convinced me that maybe I judged it too harshly as a kid.
Atari did a poor job of porting this to PC but you can get it working properly quite easily.
1. Use a 360 controller on your PC since this game was designed with that in mind.
2. Find the AppSettings.ini file in your Yar's Revenge install folder and open it with notepad, look for where it says "Fullscreen=0" and change that 0 into a 1.You can also set resolution and vertical sync in here.
With that done Yar's Revenge PC will now run better than the 360 version.
Bit confused by your review on this one, you contradicted yourself a couple of times. You say it is better with dual analog, then said it played fine with your Logitech. Also making the statement that it is a great sequel to Yars Revenge yet has nothing to do with Yars Revenge, yet it obviously has much in common in fact with Yars Revenge.
Usually your wit is amusing, lately it isn't making for good reviews unfortunately.
Yar's Revenge is a pretty fun game, but hardcore gamers will beat it their first time through and probably only die once while getting used to moving Yar and the reticule at the same time.

I have the pc, the ps3 and xbox, and each one is better in some aspects (pc for fps, ps3 for arcade/racing, xbox for 3ps and rpg) and im happy with the three. The only console for kids is the wii, but thats whats intended for !! And its a cool console too.
@spicyechidna94 there's no need to build a gaming rig, you can buy a PC ready for gaming anywhere. I have a laptop I bought a year ago now and I can still play every game that is released. Gaming on a PC can be as on the go as on any console. specially with steam.

I accidentally purchased this game on XBLA. It is not that bad. Actually due to its difficulty it is pretty decent. By the way, the plot of the game changes 2nd or 3rd level in. First you are a chick in a robo-insect suit killing insects, afterward you find out that people in robes who send you to kill insects are bad and you have to fight them instead
I have never been more intrigued or allured by any game featured previously than I am now by this one.
Also, looking back on Mark's original Yars' Revenge review, I can't help but think the developers liked the idea of the Qotile as hot chicks so much they put it in this game.
Yar is actually still a... Yar... Not sure why they gave her the same name as the race she belongs to...
This is actually a sequel to the original, it turns out the Yars were defeated and enslaved by the Quotile after the original game's story. Yar is basically on a quest to save the Yar race. I guess the Yars evolved since the original game and are more human-like now (but they still have insect characteristics like antennae and multiple arms).
X-Box 360 or PS3 controllers work nicely on the PC. They are even better than all these other controllers that they make for the PC, at least from my experiences.

I have the pc, the ps3 and xbox, and each one is better in some aspects (pc for fps, ps3 for arcade/racing, xbox for 3ps and rpg) and im happy with the three. The only console for kids is the wii, but thats whats intended for !! And its a cool console too.

@spicyechidna94 there's no need to build a gaming rig, you can buy a PC ready for gaming anywhere. I have a laptop I bought a year ago now and I can still play every game that is released. Gaming on a PC can be as on the go as on any console. specially with steam.

@VoidKeeper I don't have a gaming rig myself. I do, however, use my laptop and occasionally my old Windows XP computer to play PC games. I agree, you don't need to build a rig to be a PC-only gamer, but the guy I was arguing with was a PC gamer with a rig who brought up how "superior" the PC was to consoles. I'm as much of a PC gamer as I am a console gamer. I have nothing against the PC platform, just the people who are elitist about it.

@TheGorrack No, only the "PC elite". I am talking about the ones who talk down to console gamers because they think that paying more for their equipment makes them better than everyone else. I know a few PC-only gamers and they are good people, but some of the ones I find on the internet tend to be elitist assholes. Not all of them, but a lot of them.
Don't get me wrong, there are a lot idiotic console fanboys as well. Both sides are about equal when it comes to hatred of other platforms.

@youpooper1234567890 Well, that isn't a fair statement to make. If there are several consoles, it's obvious that one will eventually lose steam and lose the console war. Just because the PC hasn't lost the, uh, "computer war" doesn't make it any more superior than anything else. Since the Dreamcast "lost" the console war, does that make it worse than the PS2? No, it doesn't. Winning the system wars is more about marketing than the quality of the product in question.

I accidentally purchased this game on XBLA. It is not that bad. Actually due to its difficulty it is pretty decent. By the way, the plot of the game changes 2nd or 3rd level in. First you are a chick in a robo-insect suit killing insects, afterward you find out that people in robes who send you to kill insects are bad and you have to fight them instead

Yar is actually still a... Yar... Not sure why they gave her the same name as the race she belongs to...
This is actually a sequel to the original, it turns out the Yars were defeated and enslaved by the Quotile after the original game's story. Yar is basically on a quest to save the Yar race. I guess the Yars evolved since the original game and are more human-like now (but they still have insect characteristics like antennae and multiple arms).
This is a great game, surprisingly.
