Thats a lad of crap, some birth control, such as the pill, are 99% accurate and almost impossible to fail if u take it the same time every day.
Many women do it out of convinience for their own lives, and many continue to have abortions.
This rape scenarios are the same song and dance for pro-abortion activists. The fact is that when a women is rapped, her body goes into shock making it almost impossible to get pregnant. Less than 1.5% of abortions are from rape.
The pill may be 99% accurate, that doesn't stop it from failing that 1%. Some women can't even use the pill because their body can't cope with all the hormones, so they have to use other methods (which maybe aren't as accurate).
Also, what does it matter how many percent of abortions are from rape? If there are women in the world needing an abortion due to rape, even if it'd be just 0,1%; you can't just take their rights away!

I don't want to debate the logistics. All I can say is that I have never once heard a single mother say that she wishes she would've had an abortion, but I have heard many stories of people saying they wish they didn't have an abortion. I'm not here to judge anyone, but I personally feel that abortion is wrong.

I have read that a fetus has the physical requirements (developed thalamus, pain receptors and motor nerves) at roughly 8 weeks. The pill may be 99% accurate, that doesn't stop it from failing that 1%. Some women can't even use the pill because their body can't cope with all the hormones, so they have to use other methods (which maybe aren't as accurate).
Also, what does it matter how many percent of abortions are from rape? If there are women in the world needing an abortion due to rape, even if it'd be just 0,1%; you can't just take their rights away!

Until the pro-lifers move to give zygotes and fetuses SSNs, I say they're just half-assing it. (You are an unnamed zygote with the SSN 555-555-5555. Congrats! You can collect Social Security at 65.) Or trying to control a woman's body.

Such a silly point. Human potential is a spectrum, and this commercial just looks at the far far positive side. This is like glorifying playing the lottery because there's a couple winners, but ignoring the losers. Statistically, a child has a much higher chance of becoming a criminal or a murderer than a president. Hitler was a fetus at some point too you know.

@dlaz0109 That logic fails since the fetus has inability of knowing what is to come. The right to live becomes an underdog in the dilemma of a pregnancy. Since the mother will be put under the mental and physical hardship of the pregnancy, the choice naturally falls under her will.
I mean, no one can force anyone to go through with a pregnancy, that is just crazy alone. No one can force someone to push a living creature through their vagina either, that is even more crazy.

@blakerocker We're not talking about what kind of car to buy, abortion is a serious moral issue. It will never be solved in black and white because people will never agree on when "life" starts, that's the crux of the debate. But rather than finding it "humorous," perhaps consider finding it a) sad that we have to have this debate because there's no way to assure that only "wanted" pregnancies will occur, and b) encouraging that people feel strongly enough about serious issues to take a stand.

I believe people have the right to abortion - if other people are against abortion, they have the right not to have an abortion. If taking a "stand" means that your way is the "only" way, then yes; I do believe it's better to be a touch more 'liberal' about it.

Some may think that it's cynical and cold to talk about facts like that. But nevertheless it is true. We need to stop the over population, and with that, improve the pregnancy control methods in order to prevent unwanted pregnancies, and still keep abortion as a last train ticket.
Unwanted pregnancies can destroy a woman's life forever if she's forced to go through with this. That you Pro-Lifers can not see this is a mystery to me.
Perhaps it's faith, or maybe just pride.

@SixtySeventh - it's not that people don's see that an unwanted pregnancy can interfere with a woman's life, but once she's pregnant, her life isn't the only one to think about. Let's see - abortion destroys, i.e., kills, one life for sure; adoption saves a life and may in fact be the saving grace for the woman with the unwanted pregnancy as it may be a lot easier to live with having created a life and placed it in a loving home than living with the fact that you destroyed a life.

Imagine a world where abortion was unavailable... For one thing, we would live in an animalistic society, considering baby murder, starvation and the destruction of families would widely increase. As well as the world becoming extremely over populated too fast.

@SixtySeventh - well second off, abortion WAS illegal until the late 60's, and we did not live in an "animalistic" society, women didn't murder, starve or destroy families over an unwanted pregnancy any more than today . And there has been no decrease in population since abortion became legal (frankly, it kind of sickens me to think that you view abortion as "population control" - but that attitude is one of the ones that is making women think it's o.k. to be irresponsible, you can abort later).
