i used to want to live in birmingham cause i go there alot i read the comments on this page so is birmingham a good city to live in or should i think about another place?
@Dkdiddyproject I've lived in Vestavia, so I know a lot about Birmingham, you don't want to go there with me.
Bet you didn't know they lost several pieces of Vulcan for a while after the St. Louis World Fair, right? Or that they had to assemble it, reassemble it to get it right, or that it's the largest cast-iron structure in the world. Check the FBI 2010 Top Ten most dangerous cities, it clearly states Birmingham is 10th. I'd post the URL, but YouTube isn't letting me. Go ahead and be ignorant.
@Dkdiddyproject Yeah, that's what Birmingham is, 10th, not 4th. I'd rather go to Birmingham than those places. Have you not looked at the crime statistics in the last 10 years?? You said nobody is living in the suburbs, when ALL of the suburbs are growing. Are you really that ignorant?
I'm glad you included the Powell Elementary School in this video at 2:44. Unfortunately, it just burned two days ago. It was a beautiful old building built in 1888.
@Dkdiddyproject In case you haven't looked, Birmingham keeps dropping farther down the list, they're now tenth, not fourth. Hoover, Homewood, Mountain Brooke, Trussville, Pinson and McCalla are all suburbs. When was the last time you were actually IN the Birmingham area??
Sir(s): Did Somebody get a "Great Find" for a Good ," Prosperous Zip Code in HOMEWOOD, ALABAMA, U. S. A.? --J.D., SATX 78202 U. S. A. "NO SHAME INTENDED," AND "DESERT RAT & SUPER, PRIME-CUT GRUNT OF THE AMERICAS."
Could someone tell me if Birmingham is a nice city for living, dining, or shopping within the city limits; or is it one of those towns that has seen much of its life and entertainment move to the suburbs? Like I noticed the best hotel in Birmingham is the Ross Bridge Renaissance, which is way out in Shelby County.
The majority of the nice shoppign areas are on 280, hoover, mountainbrooke, homewood, leeds, trussville and gardendale.
The main attraction inside the city limits are the art, flight and civil rights musems, the zoo, botanical gardens, civic center and the majority of the "nightlfe (clubs, music venues bars) which are mostly in the southside area or on 1st avenue in the heart of downtown however there is a growing nightlife scene on the 280 and hoover areas.
Most nice restaurants are on 280 and hoover/rossbridge area though there are some nice ones in the south side of birminghams downtown.
the residential, industrial and lesser developed commercial areas are the mostly high crime areas. However when visiting like any other large city it pays to keep belongings out of site in your vehicle, and remain alert and aware of your surroundings.
I've lived inside the city limits for 30 yrs and have had few problems
aww man, that's a nice video! I'm brazilian and live in b'ham since last december. I mean, it's a boring and too calm city, but I really love to live in "the ham". people are simple and friendly, we have lots of places to have fun, colleges and opportunities to get a good job. I guess it's the best place to live in alabama. :)
The Birmingham-Hoover Metropolitan Area as of the 2007 census estimates, has a population of 1,108,210.
I so miss home. I want to see rolling hills and listen to folks who sound like me and know what the heck real bbq is! Not to mention I need a Milo's fix really bad!
This is the City of Birmingham, where I'm living wiht my family and friends for more than 8 years, I love this place special his people, whom show to everybody the """southern american hospitality""

@mikec2009 in short this. the bham/hoover area comprises around 2 million citizens and 10s of thousands of people not from the metro area.

Nice place...I like going into the trailer parks on the weekend to see the white trash...nice
blackbamabound 1 year ago
@blackbamabound
not much white trash and cna only think of 4 small trailer parks actually inside the city, gotta goto the redneck burbs and rural area for that.
Know what you are talking about when you troll. its a 73% african american city.
and hoover is largely hispanic and stuck up whites.

Lived in bham for 10 years. Word of advice:if you're not white, it is probably a very bad idea for you to move there.

When I was a kid, I visited my grandparents in Birmingham. It was the summer of 1971. My father attended and graduated from Parker High in 1954.

Nice.
But in my view, you left out the Main Branch of the Birmingham Public Library on 21st St. N. That glass wedge sticking up in ths sky is striking.
Of course, there are many other places you could've filmed and you had to make your choices.
