although i really can't say i know how you feel, since we've all experienced different things, and have uniques relationships with our horses, i can relate. i lost my horse in december. unfortunately you've had to go through a long process of pain before having sox leave and my horse left us suddenly and unexpectedly. we cannot judge who has gone through the most pain and it's not what is important. the importance is that i know that Dream (my horse), is (c)

in my eyes this video is my reality, we are going through a strange lameness as well. over 5 months. vet will be comeing out to take xrays and no matter the out come i will do whats best. Ive put my heart and soul into my horse and his short career in hunter jumpers was astonishing but his love for me is beyond words. Im greatful for him in everyway. Im sorry that you will have to make such a difficult but important decision. your heart may never mend but your memories will hold you together....

This hit so close to home for me having had to make that extremely difficult decision just yesterday with my dog, Diesel, after he injured his back. @RhythmicHooves That is so great to hear. And Yes Brock is amazing. He is sensitive yet knows when to crack a joke about something. And he loves Sox... and is always so kind to us when we come! He scheduels nothing on the day sox comes so he and his vets can have all his attention on him. I love him! Even though he always seems to have bad news. ha

aw i seriously love Sox and he has been such an incredible horse to have stayed happy through all the pain he must have been going through. I am so sorry that his time is coming to a near end but you have been incredibly lucky for him to have managed to stuck around for so long. It's a shame that the most vivid memories are of whilst he has had navicular but those amazing memories you have shared together for ages are gonna stay deep down forever :) xxx
aww, i am so sorry all of this has happened :( the hardest thing about having to put down Utah and Charlie, was that they were perfectly happy and healthy...they just had a virus that would hurt other horses. it was too dangerous. i really had no choice, unless i didn't want another horse until Utah and Charlie died of natural causes. then my sister's horse would have to stay somewhere else. You are lucky to be able to keep him around for longer, to know when it is time. gr8 vid, good luck

have you tried horse boots? like ones that go over his whole hooof?
@raggles100 yuhp he has these custom boots that get adjusted everytime, but he can't wear them for very long... and now his hooves just fall apart when you put them in the boots :'(

The horse I rode also died 1year ago, it was har, it was super hard. But now everytime I remember him I always try to end with a smile!

@ShannyPants2 natural hoof care will not help Sox's problem with navicular. They work more with the actual hoof, not the bone inside. I doubt that the natural farrier would be able to do anything. The vet has done all that he can

I have become stronger in my faith and closer to God. I still have to improve more, but for that past couple of months i was becoming week in my faith until fly came along and is proving everyone WRONG! :D

I have never lost a horse of my own but I know the tremendous courage that it takes to put a horse down and how painful it must be. And then September 8th, 2009. Sailor died, just.. died. and no one knew what happen or anything. I kind of blamed God for it.. until about three months ago? I realized God did it to bring me closer to him, I was drifting farther and farther away from him... I'm so thankful for what i have and what God has done for me. <3

I am a working hoof trimmer and farrier, and most problems in fact comes from wrong feeding. The hooves are extremely sensitive. in my eyes this video is my reality, we are going through a strange lameness as well. over 5 months. vet will be comeing out to take xrays and no matter the out come i will do whats best. Ive put my heart and soul into my horse and his short career in hunter jumpers was astonishing but his love for me is beyond words. Im greatful for him in everyway. Im sorry that you will have to make such a difficult but important decision. your heart may never mend but your memories will hold you together....

This hit so close to home for me having had to make that extremely difficult decision just yesterday with my dog, Diesel, after he injured his back. He saved my horse Smokey when he cut his tendon and nobody thought I would ever be able to ride again.... but we had many great rides after that! Then he saved Charlie's life... even though he called my dad and told him to tell me Charlie probably was not going to make it. He's awesome!

aw i seriously love Sox and he has been such an incredible horse to have stayed happy through all the pain he must have been going through. I am so sorry that his time is coming to a near end but you have been incredibly lucky for him to have managed to stuck around for so long. It's a shame that the most vivid memories are of whilst he has had navicular but those amazing memories you have shared together for ages are gonna stay deep down forever :) xxx

aww, i am so sorry all of this has happened :( the hardest thing about having to put down Utah and Charlie, was that they were perfectly happy and healthy...they just had a virus that would hurt other horses. it was too dangerous. i really had no choice, unless i didn't want another horse until Utah and Charlie died of natural causes. then my sister's horse would have to stay somewhere else. You are lucky to be able to keep him around for longer, to know when it is time. gr8 vid, good luck

@ShannyPants2 natural hoof care will not help Sox's problem with navicular. They work more with the actual hoof, not the bone inside. I doubt that the natural farrier would be able to do anything. The vet has done all that he can

I don't even know were to start. You &Sox have an incredible bond, even if he doesn't wish to be with that loving hand, he still loves you & he knows that &so do you. I know that Sox is your world& you're probably Sox's as well, you make the decisions for what is best of him. && I think the decision to send him to heaven is the best in this case. He lived a long happy life as long as he could see your face&I'm sure he knows that it is his time to go and he will understand.

I have never lost a horse of my own but I know the tremendous courage that it takes to put a horse down and how painful it must be. You are doing the right thing though-- there is always a time where they just need to go. He will be happy in horsey heaven. And then September 8th, 2009. Sailor died, just.. died. and no one knew what happen or anything. I kind of blamed God for it.. until about three months ago? I realized God did it to bring me closer to him, I was drifting farther and farther away from him... I'm so thankful for what i have and what God has done for me. <3

Im so sorry. I was so sure Sox would make it through, guess not. He looked so happy(as you said), maybe his time has come. Im so sorry, at least Sox will be free of pain and happy. xo

Olivia, I am so, so sorry to hear about Sox's condition.
I was well near tears when watching this and your description was so touching.
I can't even believe you have the optimism left in you to go through Christmas like this. I know I wouldn't be able to. Your attitude is really inspiring.

I am so sorry Olivia. Im glad you can see when it is time to let go of him. I do not believe you are a selfish person at all, and I think you have done everything right. Sox has told you now that he wants to go what with the added pain of his hooves as well, so be kind to him as i am sure you will be and let him go.
