If you weren't in the vehicle with her, or able to see her actions from outside the car, then you're slandering her by declaring as fact that "! something distracted her!" [sic]
I'm from Sarnia Ontario ,not knowing this boy, I was devastated at hearing this. how could someone be so horribly STUPID! Just five years old. Knowing this just makes my heart break, hearing he was hit just made me break down in tears. My father knows his father, he's a wreck. this women deserves to be put in jail.
Since the incident, social media sites...have been flooded with groups launched in connection with the accident, forcing police to grapple with how to deal with the rapid spread of misleading, premature and accusatory information. Groups like "Hands free for Haiden" and "Justice for Haiden" contain hundreds of posts suggesting the driver was both speeding and using a cell phone, two factors which have not been confirmed by police.
I'm so sorry for the loss of this beautiful little boy. I do not know the family personally, however, through a friend on facebook who does learned of this tragedy. Please know that we here in Halifax, NS, are sending prayers your way and are thinking of you tonight and will be for a long time to come I'm sure.

I heard about this on Facebook, and wanted to see the video. I have two boys: a 3 year old, and a 1 month old, and I cannot imagine the kind of pain and emotional turmoil this family is going through. My sister was hit by a car and killed when she was 8 years old, and I watched my mom hurt, even to this day. I don't think you will ever be the same after something like this. I am praying for this family's healing. I believe this boy is being held in the arms of Jesus. Rest in peace, little man.
@tammypayne80 If you know anyone who witnessed the driver's actions, they better have given a statement to the police at the scene. Leaving the scene is criminal. Slander is criminal, too. Police say they have no evidence that the driver did what people online are saying. If it turns out they are rumors, the driver would have every right to sue.

I tweeted it and started a prayer chain going around the world for Haiden to heal, now sadly tweeters are wrapping the family in prayer as we share in their grief. But police do not have witness statements from the scene accusing the driver of the negligence being spread on Facebook. Please don't let's compound the tragedy with false accusations, slander, or hateful rumors. That won't help anyone heal.
@kimfleury i wasnt being rude or anything? i doubt anything can heal the pain that these people are going through whether its rude or the sweetest thing ever, they lost their little boy because she was selfish. i heard the story to it, i dont think she deserves treatment whether she was on her phone or not... she hit this little boy, thats bad enough!

A little boy once darted out in front of my car. I couldn't avoid hitting him. It's true that careless drivers cause tragedy, but kids are fast & unpredictable. I wasn't charged & police supported me, just as they are supporting this driver. Unbiased witnesses whose testimony didn't conflict stepped up for me. >tbc

The police have not charged this driver, and are asking witnesses to come forward. If a number of unbiased witnesses (who don't know either the driver or the family) come forward and give statements that don't conflict with one another, we can trust that information. It may be that the statements they got on the scene conflicted with one another, which suggests they're not telling the truth. The police have asked people to stop spreading rumors. Do you think they're covering up a child's murder?
