Well he have been in alot of wars and they landed on that planet at the end of the game and he sented a message to tell soldiders where he was and then now there is a war there and the shield grenade they gave him that weapon to fight
this trailer was not made by the bungie team unlike all the others , it was made by a movie cg team using only the 3d models provided by bungie the rest they made and rendered so it is unlikeley to bare aby resemblance to the actual game, but it is a beter trailer so good marketing move bungie!
Actually, I prefer Nintendo. But that's beside the point. The fact that the trailer contains no gameplay footage whatsoever is usually an indication that the game itself is, at best, lacklustre.

The game is in the freaking Pre-Alpha stage retards.
Of course what you saw in the EGM looks like it's Halo 2 with a few improvements...the game isn't close to being finished!

the actual Halo 3 *game* will not look anywhere remotely near to this pre-rendered CG commercial.
Go back and look at the recent Halo 3 pictures in EGM - *that's what Halo 3 will look like, with a few improvements here and there.
