Pink elephant and others. The new era of enlightenment is upon us. We are able to convey ideas and attain knowledge via the Internet similarly to the rally's/ protest of the previous decade.
The fact that we have the opportunity to do so is utter greatness.
I complete feel you on this one. I had to pay my own way threw school. Only my dad worked. I'm always questioned just because i speak correctly and don't have my pants saggin. As black people we need to be united and stop challenging blackness based on class. That just keeps us divided.
The reason for the negativity is because the lower classes want to be the middle classes and because they aren't they feel inferior. On the other hand the middle class is in constant flux between feeling guilty for be a better well off soci-economically to feeling completely superior for the same reason. The difference between the two classes revolves around choice and hard work. Everyday we're seeing suburban cats fall off because of bad choices so they join the lower class
When you really think about it both groups probably have more in common than not. Both classes have to receive a paycheck from somewhere rather than make it for themselves and both groups are often one paycheck away from total destitution.
Being middle class is a bit overhyped as far as I'm concerned. I want to be a part of the merchant class, making my own money & creating my own destiny.
The thing dat pisses me off & is funny as hell is dat y is it dat black ppl from the hood especially males hate on black males born in the surburbs cuz they "not black enough" or "not a real nigga" but as soon as the hood niggas gets money, where do they run to? THE SUBURBS!!! LOL...or ...a dude from the hood who is smart & moves outta the hood is a "sellout" cuz he dont give back but a dude who is from the hood who is athletic and goes pro & dont give back is still a hero & role model like wtf
i'm not from the suburbs as my family and i lived a lower class lifestyle almost my entire life. but i can relate to the whole suburban black man having his manhood questioned. i'm 20 years old and lived in inner-city cincinnati yet i do not fit the discription of a thug. i never had money and i always been studious but yet my black manhood was always questioned.
i feel you. and when you reach your goals you will find out that racism and the hardships that inner city black men only claim to have is happening to all black men then you have won. like i said many black men confuse the black elite or upper class to that of black who just made it to the burbs and the middle class.
Same here. I'm not from the surburbs either and like yourself i've lived a lower class lifestyle. I'm from the south. But i've always had my manhood challenged my entire life. So like you guys i can relate to the suburban men as well.
"say what you want but if and when shit pops off I would rather be close to my people in the so- called hood rather than be close to the people who has hated me just because I'm black-"
By the way, the type of people that would automatically dismiss a black man and his views just because he is from the suburbs are the type of people you could have never worked with anyway. So it doesn't really matter. The people that are setting the "are you black enough" rules aren't in control of anything important anyway.
I used to live in an area that most blacks thought was a white area. and whenever i told them where i lived or where my parents live, the automactically assumed i came from money.
When in reality my parents are both blue collar workers as am i.
I used to get this statement, "oh you UP THERE with the white folk" i always thought that was funny.
If black continue to beleive this, then the BC will always be divided!!
WOW! some of the comments on here are really stupid. its an condescending and insulting to blacks everywhere to limit the black experience to just location. as if "blackness" comes down to whether or not u have to duck bullets where u live.
I hate living in the hood.I hated growing up in the hood.Because I was a bookworm I had to constantly fight for my right to not be stupid.Rediculous.The only people who challenge someones manhood doubt their own.
Pink, some of these cats are idiots. Don't trip man. Bottom line is that the average hood cat is a lot more square than people think, and the average suburban dude is a lot more hood than people think. The real world is not that extreme, unlike youtube.
say what you want but if and when shit pops off I would rather be close to my people in the so- called hood rather than be close to the people who has hated me just because I'm black-
Brothers who bust they ass to be close to they "massa" than bust they ass to make the community that raised them better deserve what they got-
Tiger woods, O.J. Simpson are two of those type of men- and look at how the burbs treats them.
the blacks in the burbs will be the easiest targets like those in rosewood
Yeah a lotta good that the hood has done for great men like Huey P. Newton & Malcolm X.
Hood dudes are okay for muscle, but they are mostly an undisciplined bunch whom without strong & often dictatorial direction will turn on their leaders & then on each other at the drop of a dime... or maybe a couple of pieces of Judas's silver.
History & the brutal reality of disproportionate black on black killings in today's modern world has proven that much. I hope that there aren't more like you.
@ 215workhard --your "people" in the hood will fuck you over faster then you would know, in fact that is exactly why the hood stays exactly where it's at. A mass of uneducated, undisciplined fools with no self-esteem that constantly pull each other down like crabs in a barrel. The funniest part is not that you are backwards in itself but the fact that you truely do not get how backwards you are.
raped who? please. the inner city rapes blacks more. How many black men live by the code of the streets that was taught to them by some rap song? huh? who controls rap. black men? stop with all that bullshit.
u sound like ur visiting irritatingly familiar territory in this video! im not even suburban, but it gets me fired up, too. its just like i told.... some other you tuber, blackness isnt attributed to location and any attempt to say otherwise just make our whole experience sound fickle and lacking substance.
Do you realize that we have millions of people from other countries busting their butts every year just to live in this country, let alone the other western countries?
Whatever ganja you're smoking please pass it around, 'cuz for someone to believe the nonsense you're spewing, a man's gotta be toking up that blunt for sure!
that kinda thinking is probably part of the reason certain suburban blacks DONT help the inner cities. would YOU help somebody who promoted the notion that u were a sell out? COME ON, MAN! u wanna compare us to other groups? well, NO OTHER GROUP DOES THAT! u got a very skewered perspective of manhood if thats how u personally define it.

Great vid. That whole "not black enough" bs is our own racism against ourselves.

A black man from the suburbs 9 times out of 10 is even MORE legit as man. End of story.

There's also black suburban neighborhoods also. As far as living in a white suburb, I will never do.
crownman11 2 years ago
well- we only question black people's manhood when they move to the burbs'
No other group of men break thier necks to move close to the people who raped them.
thier manhood should be questioned.
