I absolutely love Diablo II, but it never had that creepy factor that Diablo had. I never felt safe in Diablo, even while safe in Tristram. It always felt that something would be around every corner, and the creatures (such as the Hidden and Advocates) were much scarier than virtually everything in Diablo II. It was much darker, much creepier, and felt much more Satanic. DII just doesn't have that creepy feeling. It's just you against the forces of Hell.

Not a bad idea, but the same man will be composer of D3. We are just in love with first Diablo and anything connected to it is the best for many of us who grew up playing this game hundred times.

@kakauga Actually it won't be by the same man. When blizzard got rid of Blizz North, AKA the true diablo creators, Matt Uelmen, the composer, left with them.

It's a shame because while D2's ost was good, I felt D1's tracks were his masterpieces, and I was hoping he'd create the same type of bone-chilling music for D3, to bring back some of the atmopshere that D2 was missing.

Those hopes are pretty much dead now, along with my desire to buy Diablo 3, after what current blizz has done to it.

It's hard to explain, but somehow even if in D2 demons were roaming on the surface, the light of the sun makes them less frightening than the ones lurking under Tristram in the first Diablo...

Also excluding the golem (which is more of a nuisance for the enemies) you couldn't summon a party of creatures nor hirelings in D1, so it was just you and maybe the spirit of Arkaine.

@Matrimelee It's nothing like WoW in any way or form. Blizzard stated that they wanted to bring back that classic Diablo feeling with the atmosphere, gameplay and sound. I pretty much seen all the Diablo 3 footage Blizz put out there and they pretty much did that. My opinion is more valid because I played both Diablo 1 & 2 (still play LoD) and WoW for 4 years. They are nothing alike.

Its well known that music elicits emotion like in a movie. If the Jaws theme is played what iconic image comes to mind? Well, I used to play this game religiously and the soundtrack is by far one of the most hair raising and spine tingling I have ever heard and I get those same chills when I listen to it. If you play the game muted you don't get nearly the same experience.
