Thanks for sharing. I almost feel offended by how easy you make it sound, "Accept yourself. Just be." I've suffered in silence for a number of years now. As of recently, it seems as if I've hit a breaking point, finally. But anyways, the reason I'm almost offended by how easy you make it seem is because, before hitting my breaking point, if you'd like to call it that, I was totally unaware of what was so painful. I couldn't understand my pain, I couldn't articulate it, etc and etc. --continued--
@tonyfalca --continued from last post-- Yeah, so, I would just like to shed light on the fact, whereby I'm sure there are so many people in pain out there, suffering in silence, and totally unconscious or unaware of what's causing that pain, how to understand it, and how to respond. If you'd like to simplify though, yes, it's all about accepting what is, and attempting to become 100% aware. Just my two cents... a song title comes to mind, "Everything in its right place." Thank you Radiohead.. :)
Hi, what are your thoughts on raising children up? I want to leave my children free (Breeding, Blunton) but in this world it is so difficult. Most of parents moralise, tell the children what to do, not to do, what to say, how one should act... All theese sholds, and I feel really sorry for theese children and mine too because they will leave together... It is a struggle sometimes... Maybe you will make video on children... would be great. Thank you for being you
@bzynkapatrycja I don't have children so I lack experiential wisdom. But I think the best thing a parent can do is teach by example. Words are cheap. Also, instead of teaching children with 'shoulds & moralizing' parents can teach their children cause and affect of their actions. If you do A then B will happen. For example instead of telling children not to do drugs. Parents could show them the consequences of drug use. Nagging children just teaches them to tune their parents out.
Gracias, Steve! Aceptación y dejar ir son pasos fundamentales hacia el despertar de la conciencia. Lo que dices con cinismo sobre nuestra neurosis me pareció genial y
es una manera diferente de verlo. Despues de ver tus videos salgo siempre renovada. Adelante!!
Wish you could translate these videos into Chinese for my mum ;) She could definitely benefit from your open dialogue discussions. Thanks also for posting these vids, they've helped me pinpoint some things about my self that needed examination.
I think you'll like the book "The Happiness Hypothesis" and "Switch". They use the metaphor of a rider (conscious, rational self) on an elephant (emotional subconscious) that I think really expands upon what you're getting at in this video. Thanks for the video.
man, from this mini-hiatus I can tell you are a man that prefers quality videos over quantity of videos. This was a great, great reminder of why I am where I am in my life right now. Thanks man.
I think this is one of your most perceptive/insightful videos on the human condition. When people try to "fix" themselves, I believe that most of their motivation comes from social conditioning. That's why it rarely works. Take smoking, for example. Most people who smoke feel pressured to quit because of the social pressure and negative social stigma of smoking. But if your motivation to change comes from external sources, it's not likely to work and it won't be "fun," as you were saying. ;P
@superdisconnect I like my privacy. I'm not sure what the need of Facebook is if we can discuss these issues in the comments section. What are your thoughts?
Steve, TRUTH. You are speaking the Simple Truth.
Thank you.
