pitty you couldnt have got footage of some of Goulds (from Kalgoorlie). They run some very interesting combinations up into the Northwest of Australia..... B Tripple Roadtrains etc. to carry Nickle concentrates HUNDREDS of Kilometers back to the refinery.
@seekingasordered ...took lots of pictures, mainly stills of many combinations of many companies we saw on that recent trip across the top of Aus and down the West coast returning via the Kalgoolie area and over the Nullabor. There were chances to get many more pics too but let them go. I'll upload a selection eventually. There are lots of new iron ore mines in the west and more are opening - even way down south. Will try to snap more next trip . Olympic dam project trucks are interesting too
Must be a big fleet alright! I know the combinations, they vary in name from state to state but usually called an AB Quad and the prime movers are called "Tri Drive" bloody awesome bits of gear, wasn't being nasty about the dog, thought it was funny how much he kept barking at them, and the fact that a dog thinks he can scare a 180+ ton road train!
@mattyjh69 That's OK. He barked in more than one scene but he just doesn't like trains of any sort especially if they blow the whistle. Can even be heard at 100 metres. The trucking scene is an eye opener in the Northern Territory and Western Australia. The variety and size of loads is astounding as is the speed and power of the units. Monstrous earth moving machinery, railway rolling stock and almost completed large buildings are just a few examples of loads. Hard to stop with just a bark!
Some good footage there, though it was mostly the same truck...and the dog barking ruined it!!! If you could stop that dog barking so we could hear a big engine slowing then trying to accelerate! Otherwise, great pics and footage :)
