@achabotte new skins for units ll roman families are all together as teh romans,( senate still there barely ) ai more agressive you get attacked more often etc its better to figth battles manualy rather than sim . and you cnat use the same tactics as on the base game . all in all its a harder more detailed modification of rome . its awesoem !!!

where do you get the SPQR mod?

you google it then download it from filefront . if u have rome total war gold edition then you dont have to patch it.if u dont then you have to patch it to 1.3 then to 1.5 then install the mod.

Urban Cohorts were real, they were guard of Rome, they were supposed to balance the power of the Praetorian Guard, which at the time wielded too much power, In reality the Praetorian Cohort should have been the best of the legionary type units. :D

damn right, from the guy's part he played well but the AI is abit dumb, the Roman frontline started shakin its formation b4 they met (became tight to eachother with their flanks exposed) & the few Roman cavalry there were fighting pikemen from the front, which is bad. This happens to me also playing against the AI in SPQR still love it tho.

carthage is one of the best factions in the game. the great thing about carthage is that unlike many other factions is you have to be adept at coordinating the various arms as opposed to relying on brute strength which is what some factions rely on. p.s. this may sound petty but if you know your history and want realism you should not be fighting a post marian reforms roman army if you are carthage, so urban cohorts should not really be a factor.

spqr mod is unbalanced but fun. the praetorian skins look like the ones from the movie Gladiator. The spartan skins looked like they were jacked from the macedonian gold shield mod, the only change being the lambda and the overhand animation. a ton of new factions have elephants too, kinda funny. but overall, a fun mod to have.

Well, !at Cannae! Hannibal did not used any elephants...but yes some of them survived the Alps and they were used in northern Italy. Look where is Cannae located, south Italy, Apulia region.

About the army: i said he should choose the pre-marian troops (velites,hastati,principes,tri­arii,equites) so the normal "Romans" faction(not SPQR), as enemy, cuz fighting against praetorian cohorts is unrealistic. That's what i wanted to say. I hope u got it for second time(:

(: Historically the Roman army was led by consuls Lucius Aemilius Paullus and Gaius Terentius Varro. So btw any praetorian cohort /cavalry prticipated in the battle. U should choose the normal "Romans" faction with the traditional velites, hastati, principes, triarii combination. And Hannibal hasn't got any elephants at Cannae...
