Yeah... I'm sure about the 50 degree difference. There's even a bigger difference on regular (non reverse flow) offset smokers. I had 3 temperature probes in the pit while doing the video. All smokers have hot and cold spots and it's up to you to know where they are so you can cook on your pit correctly.
Note... that the Lang will even out a little during a smoke as the metal plate heats up and the fire settles down to a nice bed of coals and if you keep the lid closed like you should.
