top speeds in the low 30's? gas mileage around 70mpg?? you must've had a really really fat person riding this, or a really stupid reviewer because those numbers are WAY off. mine goes in the high 30's to 40 and gets around 90-100mpg totally stock.
i have had a honda ruckus for 2 years and put 12000 miles on it. I use it for everything. i have rode it in every type of weather. it has always went 40 average speed, 43 down hill and 30 slowest up hill and that hill was steep. overall i love my bike.... and another thing this guys is an idiot.
I too don't care if the guy reviewing it doesn't like it. Today, I bought a 2012 Honda Goldwing, XM, Navi, ABS, Airbag for myself AND a new Honda Ruckus for my 14 year old son. Didn't have to write a check for more than $28,000 for both either.
@aussiemate95 ether your talkin out your ass or your on about kph, my aerox 50 did 70 with a few basic mods these scoots are light as hell would love to have one
@powerzy46 Seriously, you think im serious 155 mph is 250 kph, and a quarter throttle.... With A RUCKUS? 20 mph topps No im not talking out my ass im just that awesome. :))
I thought it was kind of amusing that this review put circus music on when they start trashing the Ruckus. It gives me a feeling that if i were to get one I'd look like a bear riding a bike at the circus. I'd have to say not a good review.
He does have a point though, 50cc isn't great for anything other than 40km/h roads. I own a 50cc honda super cub and thankfully most of the roads in this area are 40-50km/h, so speed is not a problem. The problem is that to sustain top speeds, you really need to rev the shit out of the engine, which no longer makes it so fuel efficient. A 100cc engine, or more gears with some top speed limiter would do nicely I think.
This is such a horrible and misleading review. I weigh 175-182lbs...my 2005 ruckus with 6000+ miles on it does 36mph...30+mph up hills...my 2009 ruckus with 801 miles does 44mph. Both Ruckus's are stock. The reviewer is obviously FULL OF CRAP AND BIASED!...BOO THIS GUY!!! You should be fired or sued for making such a misleading review. I've had my first ruckus 2008 to 2011...i still love it..$95/year insurance...80-120mpg...THE END.
hahaha at the pizzeria i work at, this is our delivery scooter (in holland, so its a honda zoomer, but its the same thing) they really pwn the sym agility and peugeot ludix man
I am doing some research before purchasing a Honda Ruckus. More than likely I'll buy a new one if I can find a dealership close enough to where I live. What I would like to know is how many miles can a Honda Ruckus reach on the odometer (50,000, 100,000, 150,000, etc.)? This information will help me decide if I should buy one of these. Will it last long or die within a few miles?
Well, I'll tell you what. I weigh 260lbs, and my Ruckus does 40mph with me on it! The only modification I made to it was to add a HMF exhaust. It did give it a little more power, and it goes up hills with no problem at all. I love my Ruckus, and plan to have it for a long long time.
Bad review! My stock 2011 Honda Ruckus does over 40 mph on the flats and I weigh 205! It's a great ride for downtown trips. It's no freeway commuter, but if you can stay on the 45mph and under streets it'll do just fine.
You would think that these guys were expecting the Ruckus to perform like a Hyabusa. What a shitty review. Obviously this guy has no clue about the Ruckus and the aftermarket support it has. I would like to get that new 110cc Honda engine under the Ruck though.
Hello! I recently bought a 2009 Honda Zoomer (basicly the same as the ruckus apart from a few minor things) and i have to say: Its awesome! At the moment it does 56km\h and with the new parts i have ordered ive been told by friends who allso drive the Zoomer that it will be able to do between 65-75km\h. What are you complaining about??
you dont know wtf your talkin about!!!! i bought a 2006 ruckus brand new and had a blast on it did some big trail riding on it and also drove from charlotte N>C> to port st. lucie FL and another thing it tops out around 43 mph but i will say yes its horrid up hill just does not wanna go!!! but you should change some things in this video i loved mine had alot of fun on it !!!!

hey bro? have you ever heard of a fallacy?? cuz this video is filled of them the only one you have disappointed is yourself with your lack of literacy.. god your stupid
Yea what a horrible review. You don't know shit about this scooter! The Honda ruckus was originally designed to be bare bones so the owner can customize the way they want. With just a couple of minor bolt on mods, a Honda ruckus can easily go 45-50 mph on flats and 40+ uphill. I know plenty of people that own street-bikes and still ride the Ruckus EVERYWHERE! So you can suck it with that crappy review and clown music!
this is a horrible review.. i get my bike going about 53 mph.. hence with my cdi and yosh pipe and k&n filter however my brakes were great the shock is fine.. i cruise just fine with traffic no prob.. i love my ruckus and dont plan on ever tradiing in it for another scooter
Haha! Are you paid by Yamaha to give crappy reviews to honda's? First off, your overview page on the ruckus is off, you guys said that it was air cooled? I'll give you guys a hint, that little reservoir on the side isnt for windshield washer fluid. Thats sad that some people out their trust you guys. Unless you obtained a lemon, the scooter is NOT that slow. Maybe you should get a different one and test it out again.
i just bought a red 2009 ruckus brand new, i get 110 mpg, cruise at 40 flats, 35 up hills, brakes work like champs because it is so light. This review is a joke.
Wow... What the fuck is this? Is this what you call a "scooter" then check out the Yamaha Aerox! They run with 50cc minarelli 2stroke engines making around 60mph completely districted! We also have TONS! of parts for them here in Europe including 88cc kits that gives the Aerox ~25bhp and top speeds of just under 125mph!!!
Also check out some other European scooters like the GIlera Runner, BETA ARK, Aprilia SR50 (injector), Peugeot Speedfight 2 & 3, Peugeot Jetforce, Debi GP1 and Yamaha Jog!
Motousa - Here is an super easy equation for you: Smaller cc engines equal less power and less speed, and they are class-rated accordingly. Bigger cc engines equal more power and more speed. Awe...see how easy that is?!? The Ruckus is a 50cc engine...okay...study it hard...that means it doesn't go as fast as an 1100cc engine! See how smart you're getting now!? Geezus...you and your review are an embarrassment to the industry.
This guy seems to be complaining that his scooter isn't a motorcycle. Only impatient people that don't know how to merge find it frustrating on a 49cc. Thats why they like the 125cc and 250cc, it makes up for their poor timing. And if you find that it cant merge on roads regardless of being a seasoned rider, than your scooter has no business on that road to begin with. What he said about the hill climbing has some truth to that though.
i have to say i get all my gear from you guys and i love the site, but did you not know that you were sitting on a 50cc. Its not about top speed with a Ruckus its about the great time you have getting to where you're going.
Really awful review. The guy doesn't understand the product. Why's he talking about Honda not sticking a 125 in a Ruckus? Totally irrelevant, and would make the Ruckus a different Class of bike if the did. Honda already have 125 Class bikes. Embarrassing journalism, seems every idiot with a camera thinks he's an authority on anything he points the lens at.
@IronChapter Yeah and when you go above a certain cc engine size here in ny you need a motorcycle license. I think it's over 50 or maybe 100. But yeah this guys reviews suck.
@IronChapter I had a ruckus and sold it. This because I spend 3K on the scooter to make it look nicer and faster by putting a 150cc and it's this not worth it. I am really upset with myself for buying it and spending how much I did on it. But that's me.

$2500 for a POS that can't hardly outrun a bicycle???? Damn this is just plain stupid. Why don't you just buy a cheap chinese 150cc scooter and strip off all the plastic body work? You'll have your ruckus right there. Except a third as cheap and much faster.
No bro, get a ruckus and dont listen to anybody else. Then dump 3-4 grand on EVERY aftermarket part and do a 150cc GY6 engine swap and you will agree with every ruckus owner that after SOME tweaking its a good buy.
@pimpmike ruckus is good if you have cash but if you have the cash and skills you can turn it into something so cool and different that wil turn heads
Dude after watching this, im getting second thaughts on buying one, ANy owners disagree with the performance figures! THis rider and the clown music make it look like a joke!
MegaRuckus is this review garbage? How does it go when derestricted? I need it to be able to do 42mph on the flat and about 35mph up a medium inclined hill that is after i have done the cdi, exhaust and variator. Will it go ok.
I've hit 40/45 (might take a minute to get there) on the Ruck ... as long as I'm not going IN to the wind! ;-) The one I'm riding is stock and I am commonly riding at an average of 30/35 regularly. Love it, I ride it all over the place every day. Very fun local commuting! I think it rules. This guy don't know how to "USE" the Ruck proper! ;-)
Could somebody contact Honda and let them know about this review? Seriously. I'd flag it if they had a 'Misleading -information-' flag. Damn jerk doesn't know a thing about a Ruckus, then uses that bad knowledge to write a terrible review.. filled with more opinion and misinformation than any real helpful information!
Youtube, listen to us.. get this DAMN video PULLED!
No, I'm suggesting to get it pulled because it's misrepresenting the vehicle, thus possibly causing harm to Honda sales. All on information that is clearly inaccurate. That certainly is defamatory and harmful to Honda, while it is not deserved or asked for. I'm sure -that- counts as some kind of policy violation, whatever 'opinions' are otherwise attached to this review!
I alway got the mid 90's with gas mileage with my Ruckus, it was PERFECT for living in town and I was able to get it up to 38 or so MPH. Mine was a 2006 model. I'd still have it today, but I sold it when I moved into the country... A little too slow when you have red neck assholes driving 65 with their diesel dog (I have a small penis) pickup trucks past ya!
wow this is a really bad review, not because it paints the ruckus in a bad light, but because the review did not do his homework. Ant thus creating a review misinforming people, how come this review keeps popping up?
the information provided is incorrect. the MPG and MPH are both inaccurate. therefore this review is really bad. This review is not subjective. Had they provided the proper specs, then i would not have commented. each person is entitled to their own opinion, but review is defamatory.
to Destructicon500: Yes, thsi review -is- wrong. The reviewer is posting information about the vehicle which is -drastically- inaccurate, -even- by the -manufacturer's- standards! Sure a review is subjective. But when your talking about exact figures like MPH, or fuel efficiency, you don't give opinions. You give facts, as that is what people would look for to make buying choices. This, encourages people to reconsider a vehicle, only based on facts that aren't right to begin with!
LOL that comment was for boysinblack because he said "for 2499 you could get a lot of food." so what I meant to say was "how are you going to get to the store if you don't have a ruckus to get there?"

MegaRuckus is this review garbage? How does it go when derestricted? I need it to be able to do 42mph on the flat and about 35mph up a medium inclined hill that is after i have done the cdi, exhaust and variator. Will it go ok.

shortest review I have ever seen that actually did a good job of covering the main points. That is a funny bike though
Pinkycrust 2 years ago
I've hit 40/45 (might take a minute to get there) on the Ruck ... as long as I'm not going IN to the wind! ;-) The one I'm riding is stock and I am commonly riding at an average of 30/35 regularly. Love it, I ride it all over the place every day. Very fun local commuting! I think it rules. This guy don't know how to "USE" the Ruck proper! ;-)

Whats it like compared with say a peugeot blaster in terms of performance! Have you raced any other scooters.

Get it pulled just because you don't like this one review? That's fair.
destructicon500 2 years ago
No, I'm suggesting to get it pulled because it's misrepresenting the vehicle, thus possibly causing harm to Honda sales. All on information that is clearly inaccurate. That certainly is defamatory and harmful to Honda, while it is not deserved or asked for. I'm sure -that- counts as some kind of policy violation, whatever 'opinions' are otherwise attached to this review!

the reason for getting a ruck is to customize it not to hall ass and with about 300 bucks u can make it go 45

wow this guy is way off

I alway got the mid 90's with gas mileage with my Ruckus, it was PERFECT for living in town and I was able to get it up to 38 or so MPH. Mine was a 2006 model. I'd still have it today, but I sold it when I moved into the country... A little too slow when you have red neck assholes driving 65 with their diesel dog (I have a small penis) pickup trucks past ya!
maxfior 2 years ago
wow this is a really bad review, not because it paints the ruckus in a bad light, but because the review did not do his homework. Ant thus creating a review misinforming people, how come this review keeps popping up?
TheMeepers 2 years ago
A review is always subjective. This is what the reviewer thought. You don't like it - okay, but that doesn't mean it's necessarily wrong.
destructicon500 2 years ago
the information provided is incorrect. the MPG and MPH are both inaccurate. therefore this review is really bad. This review is not subjective. Had they provided the proper specs, then i would not have commented. each person is entitled to their own opinion, but review is defamatory.
TheMeepers 2 years ago
to Destructicon500: Yes, thsi review -is- wrong. This, encourages people to reconsider a vehicle, only based on facts that aren't right to begin with!

adoniscomplex 2 years ago 2
for 2499 you could get a lot of food.
boysinblack 2 years ago
But how are you going to get to the store to get the food?
DjJonTran 2 years ago
Can be easily balanced on the floor board.
Anavengertg 2 years ago
LOL that comment was for boysinblack because he said "for 2499 you could get a lot of food." so what I meant to say was "how are you going to get to the store if you don't have a ruckus to get there?"
DjJonTran 2 years ago
ya but im only 14 so i can only get a scooter and not a motorcycle or a car
