I generally prefer Lennon's (or Harrison) songwriting (like here...). But for pure musical skills and melody, McCartney is a master. Listen to that bass line (and many others...)! He's killer-diller and he can even sing at the same time (harmonies or lead...). You rock Paul (and Ringo too, I didn't quote him :) ).

Take it from a Beatles expert, who has the complete day-day transcript of those 30 days in January 1969 !
