100mph/200km/h is actually pretty close to the terminal velocity for a human body, had to convert that one. If you create two portals and loop in them the speed goes to 100mph easily, the video is just a mess

Dude, just wanted to say this video was great, 'cause I've been trying to make a map that will do something similar to this, but I keep getting glitches where portals won't open correctly. I thought maybe portal couldn't do what I wanted it to do, but this seems to prove otherwise. I think I just need to take another look at my entity I/O commands. It'll be a nightmare, but at least I know it should work.

This can't help with achievements, because you have to turn sv_cheats on in order to have multiple sets of portals, and having sv_cheats on automatically disables achievements.

well its dependant upon the CPU and GPU, which is why more ram doesn't mean better FPS. Certain arithmatic calcualtiokns are sorted by the CPU while the GPU mainly deals with physics calculations during a game. Don't believe me? look it up. RAM is important yes but it is not a single contributing factor to FPS. CPU/GPU tie in with what makes higher fps. If the CPU/GPU differ in relation to their processing power then you will get a bottleneck / thus low fps.

Actually, considering your graphics card is the technology the PC uses to render out the game in real time if you have everything that's great but a terrible graphics card then you will experience frame lag. What would be the point in upgrading a graphics card if it would never hinder performance or quality?

yeah it killed my frame rate when recording. It didn't actually affect the frame rate too bad when I wasn't recording it, though.

yeh depends a lot on your recording prog, i personally use videmach since it takes a still picture every second it has no lag then you can convert

There is also Source recorder which doesn't record realtime, so there isn't any framerate drops. Makes good for high quality stuff.

its not screen capture, you can do that, even on the Xbox version, go to gamespot and search "orange box" click the 360 version and go to hints and cheats, there all there, up to 4 portals of each color

Well i fell through some, fell up, fell down, fell left, fell right... you can pretty much fling yourself any which way you like and link em all together. Basically it's another fun way to play with the portal engine. It's more fun to experience and set it up than it is to just watch, obviously. That's why this is just a tutorial of sorts.
