I don't know why, it's just that thing you said at 3:11- Even in your agony, you realised I was on you still, and rolled off my trapped legs. It made me cry. To realise that horses are such wonderful, amazing, simply unreal animals they still care about the ones they love even in their moments of absolute agony and pain. Rusty loved you, countrygalGem10101, it was the type of bond that can't be unbroken even if you are in two separate universes. And you will still love him.
Don't get em wrong, I love Taylor Swift and I know shes nice and it's horrible to lose a friend/boyfriend, but for some reason I get so cross when people moan on and on about having a stupid argument with their stupid boyfriend when more important things are happening. I can't stop watching this video!! I alaways say "The Hardest Thing About Riding is The Ground" once you face that it is like you are flying and nothing can hurt you! I have fallen off so many things "But The Best Riders Fall Sometimes" It makes you strong and better! One time I fell off my mare and broke my arm to piece...I was scared to ride again too until she got sick too and we were going to loss in soon, so i started riding again so she would die happy! I thank her every day for that!!

gee thats so sad i nearly lost my horse like that, she bolted then collaped from exsaution and over heating, but she never gave up fighting and i got her back on her feet, she was leaning most of her weight on me and ever so slowly reganed her strength
I had two horses die. My second horse that I got (while I still had my first horse). His name was Dancer and he died at 24 from Colic. The guy we had bought him from told us he was 14-15yrs when we bought him but he was much older. I had him for two years before he died. Then I got Willow, but a couple years later he got kicked and shattered his hip. We had to put him down at age 15. :( Now I have Beavis and Kalypso (Beavis being my first horse still) and I just got Kalypso this summer.

If my pony Harvey died, i would die, i would go suicide, i wouldnt be able to breathe, i would cry my eyes out till i had no more tears, i wouldnt be able to carry on life. i feel your pain.... my first pony foxglove...1 day i was riding her she was fine 1 minute but the next she started breathing .......and fell with me on her...... she wasnt injured.... after a while she got back up...but never really recoverd and sadly me and my mum decided,... we had to put her down :( but now i have a new sewwt pony called janie im soo sorry about rusty:(

Im so sorry for ur loss... the bond between horse and rider is a strong one, i havent yet lost a horse but i almost did a few years ago. My horse (Daisy Mae) foundered in 2008 and she was lying in the back of the field in pain i was so afraid for her life. the next day the vet came and said it didnt look good.. but God saved her life. im glad u got to spend the time u did with the wonderful creature that Rusty was and still is. I know how you feel. When i was born, my grandpa bought me a horse so i grow to have a bond with him. We did. But when i was about 12 years old we found him in the pasture with a broken leg from slipping in a gopher hole. He had to put him down...

When I got my horse about 5 months ago he was very skinny and if we diddn't buy him then he would have died within 2 weeks. Then I was doing horse camp for 3 days and on the second day he got colic and we had to call the vet very quickly.

I do have a new horse that i love and adore just as uch as rusty, it is a very different relationship though. With Rusty it took a long time to develop a relationship with him because of the abuse he had in his past, with my new horse (well not new iv had him 3 years) he is very easy to have a relationship with as he has been very well looked after his whole life. thanks for ur comment

Soo sorry for your loss!!! I have a lady that lives down the street and she has (had) three horses Shuki her oldest gelding had lyme and he wasn't getting any better but I loved him soo much and one day I walked to her house and he wasn't there and then she told me....he had layed down and wouldn't get back up and basicly was diying right there in front of her and so she called the vet and had him come and put Shuki down :'( I know it was the right thing to do but it was hard to see him go.....
like a rock, almost landing on me, her rump started twitching and she kicked her right leg out and swung her head up and then she stayed in that position for a few seconds, panting wildly. she took a fast deep breath and let it out slowly. she died that afternoon, and i've cried ever since

Man, im sooo srry! I hav a little pony, her name is Sissy, she is still young but two years ago when she was 3, Sissy almost died of colic as well. I was so scared and I was only 10, so it made me cry for days. And then one day i was visiting her and petting her and she stood up and (which she hadnt done in DAYS) I was so happy I couldnt contain myself! we contacted the vet and she said I could ride her the weeken after!!!!! Sissy is my love!!! she is the best little pony in the world!!!
soo sorry my first horse died because another horse in the barn that was his beast friend died of old age then my horse died of loneliness. it was so sad we cantered bare back and when i fell he turned around and niccered softly as if to say are you ok . :(

Rusty was a stunning horse, and you were incredibly lucky to have the honor of befriending him. At least you know that he lived a happy life with an owner who adored him, instead of whatever would of happened if he was left in that horrible state.

Just to clarify a few things:
I had Rusty 4 years, he was aged (20+), an ex race horse, which explains his weight issues (TBs commanly have back and stomch issues due to poor saddl fits)
I love and miss him very much and although i have a new horse that i totallt adore and love i will never forget him! thank you all! <3

I am sorry you lost your beloved horse. I can't imagine how terrible you must have felt that day. But you have to retire your new horse before 20. I think a horse of 20 shouldn't be ridden unless it's super fit. Especially one with health problems like Rusty. Maybe you just pushed him a little to much. :(
how long exactly did you have him? He probably came from a bad breeder, witch is very sad:( but like you said he was pretty old, even though he didn't look like it.

It seems like we all got new horses because our others had passed. My appie died of cancer that spread too fast for us to even notice he was sick. By the time we tried to help him it was blocking his airway, but somehow im glad I met Chief.

Basically he had a heart attack we think, we never got it investigated or anything because it would have been too upsetting. Rusty was an old horse, and he had many issues, about a month before this, he lost a ton of weight very quickly, which was probably a warning something was wrong. looking at things now, i think i probably would of retired him pretty soon if this didnt happen anyway, but it dosnt change things :( thank you for your comment

oh my god!! i am soooooooo sorry! If my pony Harvey died, i would die, i would go suicide, i wouldnt be able to breathe, i would cry my eyes out till i had no more tears, i wouldnt be able to carry on life. I am truly sorry and i wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart xx This video made me cry so much! I cannot imagine what you are going through, i am terribly sorry for you.

Aw this is a real heart warming yet sad story. I am so so sorry about Rusty and I wish you all the best with your new horse. Rusty has left you a real tale to tell and many wonderful memories. I always love to hear stories of how a horse has started off badly but the rider has built up their trust. I cried when you said how Rusty rolled over to clear your legs of his body. I am grieving with you, everyone who has watched this wishes only good in your future.

i feel your pain.... my first pony foxglove...1 day i was riding her she was fine 1 minute but the next she started breathing .......and fell with me on her...... she wasnt injured.... after a while she got back up...but never really recoverd and sadly me and my mum decided,... we had to put her down :( but now i have a new sewwt pony called janie im soo sorry about rusty:(

Im so sorry for ur loss... the bond between horse and rider is a strong one, i havent yet lost a horse but i almost did a few years ago. My horse (Daisy Mae) foundered in 2008 and she was lying in the back of the field in pain i was so afraid for her life. the next day the vet came and said it didnt look good.. but God saved her life. im glad u got to spend the time u did with the wonderful creature that Rusty was and still is. I know how you feel. When i was born, my grandpa bought me a horse so i grow to have a bond with him. We did. But when i was about 12 years old we found him in the pasture with a broken leg from slipping in a gopher hole. He had to put him down...
Your horse cared deeply about you. And im sorry for your loss.

Im crying......that must have been so sad for you!
When I got my horse about 5 months ago he was very skinny and if we diddn't buy him then he would have died within 2 weeks. Then I was doing horse camp for 3 days and on the second day he got colic and we had to call the vet very quickly.
Your horse looked like a beautiful horse and the way he died is very sad.

I lost Rusty 4 years ago now i think, i still think of him though :)
I do have a new horse that i love and adore just as uch as rusty, it is a very different relationship though. With Rusty it took a long time to develop a relationship with him because of the abuse he had in his past, with my new horse (well not new iv had him 3 years) he is very easy to have a relationship with as he has been very well looked after his whole life. thanks for ur comment

Soo sorry for your loss!!! I have a lady that lives down the street and she has (had) three horses Shuki her oldest gelding had lyme and he wasn't getting any better but I loved him soo much and one day I walked to her house and he wasn't there and then she told me....he had layed down and wouldn't get back up and basicly was diying right there in front of her and so she called the vet and had him come and put Shuki down :'( I know it was the right thing to do but it was hard to see him go.....

like a rock, almost landing on me, her rump started twitching and she kicked her right leg out and swung her head up and then she stayed in that position for a few seconds, panting wildly. she took a fast deep breath and let it out slowly. she died that afternoon, and i've cried ever since

i know exactly what u feel, my first horse just died a few days ago and she was 19, the vet cant figure out why she died. she was a belgum draft, her name was ellie. the same thing pritty much happened to me. we were walking home from a nice relaxing day at the beach and he suddenly starting breathing funny (really loud and raspy) her head went up and turned a little to the right so that i could see her eye and it was wide and kinda bugged out, then her hind left leg buckled and she went down

Man, im sooo srry! I hav a little pony, her name is Sissy, she is still young but two years ago when she was 3, Sissy almost died of colic as well. I was so scared and I was only 10, so it made me cry for days. And then one day i was visiting her and petting her and she stood up and (which she hadnt done in DAYS) I was so happy I couldnt contain myself! we contacted the vet and she said I could ride her the weeken after!!!!! Sissy is my love!!! she is the best little pony in the world!!!

soo sorry my first horse died because another horse in the barn that was his beast friend died of old age then my horse died of loneliness. it was so sad we cantered bare back and when i fell he turned around and niccered softly as if to say are you ok . :(

Rusty was a stunning horse, and you were incredibly lucky to have the honor of befriending him. At least you know that he lived a happy life with an owner who adored him, instead of whatever would of happened if he was left in that horrible state.

Just to clarify a few things:
I had Rusty 4 years, he was aged (20+), an ex race horse, which explains his weight issues (TBs commanly have back and stomch issues due to poor saddl fits)
I love and miss him very much and although i have a new horse that i totallt adore and love i will never forget him! thank you all! <3

I am sorry you lost your beloved horse. I can't imagine how terrible you must have felt that day. But you have to retire your new horse before 20. I think a horse of 20 shouldn't be ridden unless it's super fit. Especially one with health problems like Rusty. Maybe you just pushed him a little to much. :(

It seems like we all got new horses because our others had passed. My appie died of cancer that spread too fast for us to even notice he was sick. By the time we tried to help him it was blocking his airway, but somehow im glad I met Chief.

Basically he had a heart attack we think, we never got it investigated or anything because it would have been too upsetting. Rusty was an old horse, and he had many issues, about a month before this, he lost a ton of weight very quickly, which was probably a warning something was wrong. looking at things now, i think i probably would of retired him pretty soon if this didnt happen anyway, but it dosnt change things :( thank you for your comment

@Kelliee1 Not hugely, about a month before this he suddenly for no reason lost alot of weight really quickly, i was going to call the vet, but he was always up and down in his weight, that it was hard to tell you know?
