  • I used to be Bill Elliot's neighbor. Lived in a cabin on the other end of a dirt road that cut through between his house and my house in Dawsonville Ga.

  • @rpeek now that is neat , he is my favorite driver

  • Wow!

  • A great piece of history, and thank you very much for sharing. And got to love being corrected on english by someone who has terrible grammar, lol

  • @bertharogan The fact of the matter , I speak , and type as I choose . Some people love nothing more than to leave nasty comments . They get what they ask for in return , then the block button . :) What do you think of that process ?

  • @towrecker It's a good process, I like it!

  • @towrecker Yup, I like that process quite a bit. I didn't know we could block people...I don't spend enough time on youtube, lol. What kind of shape is the car in now? Do you happen to have any more videos?

  • @bertharogan pop hates the camera , and youtube for that matter , so no videos , it is just starting to really look like a car again , I sort of took it completely apart , had no clue what I was doing as a kid , lost parts ect , it has been a chore putting it back together again lol

  • @towrecker LoL, gotcha. I've done that with some smaller projects when I was younger, like an old Flymo lawn mower. I had to pull it out of the shed and get it back together before I completely forgot how. I love seeing the projects on here; looking forward to having time for a project car again. I should have time by this summer, and considering having the REO truck from my videos shipped to Kentucky. I wish you luck on the car, and look forward to seeing the progress sometime!

  • dam this was 37 days before i was born dam

  • nice i wish i had videos of my first car was 1992 also i was 13 then was a 75 duster traded it for a 67 coronet a year later

  • Well my friend. Very good work. Ur a pro and didn't no it. You got a heck of a car will last forever my friend. Take care. I lost my grandfather as well back inNo 09 so. Keep it on my friend. Awesome. Take care... Jerald

  • also, my clock works! lol

  • ive got a 1949 ford sedan. it is a very sexy car. i love the body style. ive also got a flathead 6 in it too,. how far are you along with the restoration? my father and i got the car only a few months ago. good luck on with the build!

  • @korvettemaster drivetrain is 100% done , as for the car , it looks about the same ...new tires brakes ect. my clock did work and the radio does too , it need aligned though , I might get it done before I die , only been working on it for 20 years lol

  • @towrecker damn, i need the radio, thats like only thing i need for the car to be, "complete". i need to repaint mine, overhaul the engine. every thing else. good luck on the rest of your build!

  • Seeing yours sure does remind me of those days....although yours is in real rough shape. That is going to be a lot of work.

  • @jimright46 the car is not as bad as it looks , the interior was toast , but the body is pretty well rust free ...except the hood , but I have another one for it , heck been working on this one 20 years , might finish it before I die lol

  • It dies. So after long story, discover I should have used NEW head gaskets...I put old ones back on. I was just a kid I had no idea. That car taught me a lot of things about cars.

  • Sorry post twice...anyway, so spent all night sunday until monday morning put my original engine back in and together. But, when finally start notice over heat, gosh forgot water in radiator. so let it cool....add water. Then restart. It run but look like sprinkler under hood.

  • well I have a story. Back in the day, when I bought mime for $7, a friend of mine said...hey I have a 1951 mercury engine that is souped up, and should fit in there. So buy that engine $35.

Over weekend decide rip out old flathead and drop in merc engine, with high lift cam...so sweet

well, bell housing on transmission not match up...maybe two bolt holes. So think crap...

Then buy sunday afternoon decide, ok if not whole engine then put high lift cam in old engine.

  • That was my very first car dude. Except I had a flathead V-8. That was back in 1967 I bought it for $7. That's a long story. Well yer Mom was right...I hated that car it was so damned ugly. But it got me around for a couple of years. Thanks for the video. I finally broke the drive shaft and called a junk yard to take it away.

  • @jimright46 I like it lol , I have gotten the brakes redone , front end , and got it running again at this point , I have a flathead v8 , but I kinda like the 6 , they all have v8's lol

  • A little work and that flathead 6 will haul ass.

  • @johnnnyreb51 yup , they had even more compression than the v8 did , kinda odd really ...

  • i like it man. check out my classic FARM YARD find.

  • Redneck home movies FTW

  • looks like a 4 dr. with out the doors cut out.....we had a 50? 4dr.....black,that`s all I can remember.....maybe 3 on the tree.......traded it for a NEW 54 Ford with 3spd,overdrive!....it was Blue.....Dad was a Ford Man. he had a 36 Ford growing up.not sure if it was 3 or 5 window coupe, have to find the picture.

  • A good friend of the family passed away a few months back that had a 49 ford 2 door sedan like that. Had the flathead 6 in it when he got it. Ran ok but he made a gasser out of it and dropped a blown small block chev in it. That car was FAST!

  • I like your style, you brought that old Ford out of the closet, er I mean garage. Good luck on your project dude!

  • @HoschtonBoy well it's still in the garage lol...I need to fix that car lol

  • That would make a nice rat rod!

  • very cool old ford.

  • Imagine the possibilities? A mean Gasser? Or bring it back to original? I love how that flathead 6 purred like a sewing machine.

  • @utoobube how about 4 tires and a little new glass , i dove it to work today ,lol

  • @towrecker Hey, I love it! I'll bet its a fun car to drive!

  • I was surprised when it started up.

Back up lights on a 1950?

  • @auaiao9 yeah back up lights , it was like a 4 buck option and included the second interior light ( one on each b pillar ) the radio was its 2nd option the 3rd and last was the upgrade heater ,now that i think about it a heater at all might have been an option lol bare bones car , I started it last night ,first time since 95-96 somewhere in there less than 10 turns and she was running , and yes I primed the carb jugged it and run a points file through the points a few licks , I like it !!!

  • @towrecker It's a nifty old car alright, I'm glad it's held on this long. A 4 $ upgrade option is a hoot when you think of option prices these days. My parents had a Ford similar to that one, I think it was '53 or '54 and my mom slammed the drivers door on my hand one morning when she took me to kindergarten. I can't remember who screamed the loudest..me or her!

  • @auaiao9 those doors do hurt ,I slammed mine with that car years back , I feel ya ....and as options go the fog lights on my new car were a $599.00 option ,what has happend to this country lol

  • So cool!! Gotta love your Fords!!

  • I grew up a BIG fan of the Ford flathead. I was also a fan of Bill Elliot. Your video brought back some memories! Thank you for posting.

  • You bought that for $1..?

  • @Slebzak I got the old geezer down to $950 and i guess it was worth it ,more so after I found some of the history of the car ,it has a neat metal tag on the drivers door post that has the united artists property id # on it ,i just wish they kept better records so I could find out if the car actually got time on the silver screen or if it was a prop or back up or what lol
