  • You're not suppose to put your bottom teeth on the reed? Then I played the clarinet wrong all through Junior High...

  • nice catch

  • @Those of you making fun of my name: Yes, I got the "Such-a-bitch" joke thrown at me all my life and I LOVE it! As a little kid it hurt my feelings but now I am happy to have such an interesting and unique name. As an elementary teacher, it is especially fun to hear kindergartners try to pronounce my name (many of them cannot make the "v" sound properly yet). I got married this May and now I am Mrs. Falk. Much easier to say; though not as fun either :-)

    -Brandie

  • @Frefflica, NEVER pour water through your clarinet! The pads behind the keys are not supposed to get wet. The main reason for cleaning your clarinet after playing (besides preventing gross things from growing inside!) is to pull any moisture away from the key pads that may have gotten in there from the condensation in your breath. If not kept dry, the pads will warp and fall off.

  • Her name sounds like, Brandie Such a bitch wen you say it... Lol.

  • I did clarinet in fourth grade.. it was good.. but we only learned one scale. Then the next year i started alto sax. Its been 6 years, I still play alto sax and i love it. When im bored i will get out my clarinet, play it and then OHMAHGOD... lets just say thats its OKAY

  • Thank for making this video I learned many things and I'm planning to be in band this year : )

  • Thank you, I am finding these lessons quite helpful - keep up the good work. Not everyone has access to a teacher so these lessons on Youtube are very handy.

  • Thanks a lot for going to the trouble teaching these things. I appreciate it very much.

  • lolz. . . i can see little kids say good morin such a bitch

  • could you please do one with just the holes cause thats the only ones we use and i dont know how to play :(

  • hi, im brandy and im such a bitch.

  • @gfehreal we know u r

  • no duh u need a clarinet. its a frickin lesson on how to play it

  • Good to see a fellow elementary music teacher in Western PA...I teach at Redbank...where do you teach?

  • When cleaning all you do is stick it through the top little hole, let it drop down through it and pull our from the bell because it will also clean part of the mouthpeice

  • I guess it would be a huge no-no to pour water through your clarinet, huh?

  • my reed is wet all the time. y'know? COOLFACE

  • sweet tips!!

  • can u play to song twinkle twinkle little star?? can you make a video so i can see you

  • Wow, so many comments on my video! Thank you for the embouchure explanation, turnerkill. Everyone who asked for more videos, I am honored that you like what I have to say :-) I did not produce the videos myself though, I "starred" in them as a favor for a friend in media. As for those of you who are having trouble producing a sound, try pulling your jaw down and not pinching the mouthpiece with too much pressure. If you "bite" the mouthpiece, the air cannot travel through the instrument.

  • Great vid

  • your embouchure is excellent - but you explain it in a way that can cause young players to learn it wrong. When you say ' put/ wrap you bottom lip over your bottom teeth' most kids and students will always put as much as they can over and this drops the position of the tongue in the mouth. Good things to say might be -

'pull your bottom lip flat against your teeth' or imagine trying to smile and whistle at the same time - or try to say 'wee' and 'too' at the same time and see the shape it make

  • oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • My bro was playin the clarinet, this really helps after all those lousy OTHER nonsense videos, thx alot!

  • thats whaatt iii saiiiidddd./: !!!

  • its not through the bell its through the barell

  • @thejerseylover its actually the bell... the barrel is near the top in between the mouthpiece and upper section while the barrel is at the very bottom

  • @thejerseylover the barrel is what connects the 2 long pieces together so teqhnicly its the BELL xP

  • @ThePandaBear911 The barrel is what makes the sound come from the mouthpiece more rich
