ADORABLE!!! I use to do the same with my aussie. except she'll lie down and if i turn my head away from her. she would slowly inch in closer and closer to me. and if I don't tell her to go back. She'll end up right next to me! ahaha cute!
I have a border Collie, and Aussie mix too, she is very clever, but maybe i am not training her well, she knows alot of tricks but not very obedient. and Very friendly to strangers
My Aussie is tramatized we moved from hawaii to Missouri so daisey had to stay in her "house"for 8. Hours so now when she throws a fit we tell her to go to her house.then she just lestens and lays down on our staircase
sheesh and I thought my dog threw a tantrum. xD My aussie Karlie absolutly must howl every time we ask her to do something. Oh she does it, but she has to make as much noise as possible while doing it. xD its like she's saying WHY MOM!! THIS IS SO POINTLESS! XD
It's not a tantrum. She doesn't fully understand what you want from her so she's crying and rolling around, trying to please you and give you what you want. She keeps hearing you talking to her in your "give dog command voice" but because she doesn't know what to do, she's getting upset.
This video had me cracking up. I had an Australian Shepherd, as well, and whenever he didn't want to do something he would just roll over back and forth as a default. They're so smart - they know exactly what they're doing and they try to get away with murder by being coy. They are so funny!
Yeah. She's trained. I find learned behaviour, no matter how clever, a bit dull. They are mad enough with instinctive behaviour to not waste tricks on them. Save that stuff for the dumber breeds.
I have six Australian Shepherds. I would have 18 if I would have had my kennels built in time. I am very lucky to have some of the most beautiful Aussies in existence.
They love all of the cottontail rabbits, deer and my domestic animals out here in the deep woods at my farm.
I am glad that not many people even know what an Australian Shepherd is. I have been asked many times 'what mix is that' by ignorant people. But also many, many people compliment me on my amazing blue merles/ tris. ;)
KILEE1 I'm so sorry for your loss I know how hard it is to say goodbye to our furkids as I have a few that have passed and will hopefully meet me at Rainbow Bridge.
I'm so glad that Jenna helped ease your pain abit, I know that she can always make me smile even when I'm having a bad day.
Oh my goodness, that is so precious and so funny!! I just lost my beautiful Aussie this past Tuesday. Seeing your video made me laugh, thank you for that. I miss my girl so badly.
Mea culpa.....I was sitting here reading and looking up at the photo of a colleague's dog which is an Australian Cattle Dog....sorry, I confused the two. Jenna is very lovely....is she allowed to sleep with you? I rescued Dogs for years....my last one crossed the Rainbow Bridge almost 2 years ago....golly, I miss them!
@pisca531 No worries, I have had some wonderful cross breeds. Yep, Jenna is never far from my side when I'm home and often nags me to get of the computer at night if she wants to go to bed as she won't go on her own.
It is hard saying goodbye to them, I have a few that have crossed to Rainbow Bridge after long happy lives together and even after many years I still shed tears for them but also have many wonderful memories so they live on in my heart.
@pisca531 This is a purebred champion Australian Shepherd gaining her title under local, interstate and international judges so not sure where you get Border Collie from.;-) As to teasing, telling her to stay out of the kitchen is a safety issue for her and me although yes, I could have been firmer with her but I like a dog with attitude.
@pisca531 What makes you think it's a border collie Aussie mix? This is one of the nicest looking purebred Aussies I've seen here on youtube so not really sure why you think it's a mix. I also show aussies and know the breed standard like the back of my hand.
Going to the wall is not a punishment, that is the place she is mean't to be when I'm in the kitchen, for her safety and mine. She knows where she is mean't to be because she has been trained to go to that spot, the wall being the marker for her. This video was still fairly early in her kitchen training and she has always had a mind of her own (which I wouldn't want to change) so she hoped to avoid it by offering other options to me.
oh i love her already. how did you teach her to cross her paws and back up to the wall? Aussies are such clever dogs, i could never teach my basset that, he's to stubborn. I have an aussie mix and he's got the intelligence of one its just i never took the time to train him, he knows sit, lie down, roll over and high five. great video. she's such a delight!
I definitely think she was trying to do tricks to be cute and get out of trouble. They think their cute faces can get them anything. I love mine, I get compliments on how pretty she is everytime i take her anywhere. They are very intuitive too.
shes beautiful. my heart just melted. she seems so playful and fun. i had the volume up and my aussie Nicky came running in ears up to see where the dog noises were coming from. she looks just like yours. thank you for putting this up.
Love how she stomps her paw at 2:44. Well either that or just stuck it out as if to taunt you by just having one paw in the kitchen. Either way she's gorgeous and so cute!
Hahaha, it IS typical Aussie! Hahaha, my mom's dog (my "sister") throws tantrums when you tell her no. When you don't give her attention, she'll always swat her paw at you so you'll pet her. Silly silly dogs.
When my mom asks her, "Are you the baby?" she'll shake her head up and down, it's pretty neat. I wish I could teach her how to smile though.
I LOVE her! She has so much personality! Her tantrum is too cute - just like a kid would do! I love how much spunk an Aussie has - wouldn't give mine up for the world!!! Thanks for sharing such a great video - she must have been really upset because mine sure got all riled up listening to her whine. I had to put him in his own time out to finish watching the video!
Thanks Mookey72, Yes she's quiet a character, I always tell everyone its like living with a 3 yr old child. She likes to jump between beds too when she gets into the spare room, just like a kid playing bouncy. Aussies are certainly very special dogs.
Ive got vinyl flooring in my kitchen, and we always tell our boys "carpet" to get out of the kitchen and they back off the vinyl till they know they have carpet under their feet. BTW I've got a 9yo black tri and a 2yo red tir
I have a 3 y/o tri-color Aussie names Mel and while I was playing this video he walked up to the desk, sat on the floor and watched the entire thing with the "confused puppy head-tilt" the entire time. At one point he looked at me and started whimpering. It was soo adorable! Thanks for sharing!
While I was watching this, my Dalmatian/Jack Russel mix, Buddy, runs up to the computer, throws his front feet onto the desk, and cocks his head to boths sides.
My tri-colored boy dog used to throw tantrums all the time. He was such a sassy dog. My girl blue merle crosses her legs too! What a interesting action to see from this breed!
Very cute video but the fact that Jenna's yawning alot indicates shes confused and maybe not trying to be obstinate instead just not knowing what she has to do, especially when she did go back 2 the wall and was being quiet and then her owner was still talking to her and asking questions, the behaviour started again. Im not saying this is a mean video though! Jenna looks like she is loved very much! I just dont thnk shes trying to be naughty bt then I do not knw hr as well as her owner lol
I dunno what she's sayin, but my dogs do, and apparently it's not fairly heinous!! LOL Doggie cursing? Very cute and lovely tricks. My Vegas crosses his paws as well. He also checks to see if he is a boy or a girl by looking at his willy. LOL
Thanks. They are a great breed, you will enjoy having one in your life. They are the smartest dogs I know.
You might want to check out Jay Sisler's vidios on Youtube for some really smart Aussies and a very clever Greyhound. Jenna's pedigree goes back to these Aussies.
Me too, they are a fantastic breed. I only have one at the moment but hoping for another soon. My sister has 2 as well they can all be seen on Youtube under "Aussie Beach Babes".
THAT IS SOOOOO FUNNY! I had my aussie on my lap and he watched the whole thing. I have been teaching my aussie to talk (similar to what Jenna does) but he does not talk as much as her! I LOVE HOW you taught her to cross your paws. I wish I knew how to teach my aussie that!!!!!
It is very easy to teach them to cross their paws if they already know how to shake paw just bring your hand across so that the paw follows. I use a clicker and reward even small movements in the right direction and then build on it from there, before using a new command. Hope this helps, Aussies are great at picking things up very quickly.
Hi. I would kindly suggest that this behavior is stress related. Perhaps a mat or a dowel across the doorway would show the dog exactly where you expect her to be and reward for being there.
