If you want to know why Nadal's a champion, watch the point at 5:50, then see how Nadal, noticing how Simon is tired, plays on the next point. If you want to see how Simon won, take note of how the next point ended hahaha. This was a great match. One of the very rare times you'll see Nadal get beat when his opponent is an average of 3 feet behind the baseline.
@Rafathaman94 I think he had (keyword) a pretty good game a few years ago, which is clearly shown in this vid... but he's been dealing w/ a knee problem (what's new these days) that has hindered him from playing the way he used to.. so i wouldn't call him a fluke.. someone like gulbis is a fluke in my mind.. so much potential, but can't put it all together
@Rafathaman94 wow... do you have facts to back that up?? why would you say that when there are other players who have never reached their full potential.... nadal just got outplayed.. it happens
@supersonic622 I agree with you. But, come to think of it, many of the very talented players that just wasted their talent include Sebastian Grosjean, Richard Gasquet(Now on a comeback) and Simon/Monfils, who are still around but not at their very best anymore. And, they're all French :o
Absolutely. As much as I love Rafa, Simon played lights out and did not give up once throughout the entire match. To beat Rafa, you've gotta work really hard- Simon showed what it takes to come out on top.
when i'm watching simon especially in this match,i can understand why roger has lost to him twice.Simon plays exactly the game that Roger hates:Nadal style,super-defense and runs for every ball and when he has the chance,he goes for his shots.
wow one of the best match this season,Simon load his best forehand through 2nd, and 3rd sets i think that's another reason why nadal lose in this match beside his 'counter puncher' style of game.... still watching part 3 now....
