@ceasurz Yes, they have two large compound eyes on either side of the top of their shells. They look like bumps, a little bigger than kidney beans. And there are four other pairs of eyes called photoreceptors on their shells and along their telsons (tails), which help them synchronize with night and day. They're smaller (like dots) and harder to see.
How completely cool!! They are so spiky when they're young, mayhaps to protect them from predators? I never thought I'd get a tattoo, but for the past year I've been thinking about getting one of a horseshoe crab because they are so meaningful to me.
