Also, clearing the watershed of all tall vegetation is no doubt a factor, and probably the real cause. Granted, we did see an exorbinant amount of rain, but it is not even debatable that clearing the land and waterways of vegetation causes more severe floods. We need to restore our slopes and waterways. Iowa has by far the most laxed regulations on water quality, and it is time we do something about it.
