@MadEnkidu Guitar hero is a fun game that does require some skill, you can't just play perfectly on expert once you try the game it takes a while to do that. And how do you know he doesn't already own or play real guitar or any other instrument anyway?

Infact "Guitarherophenom" can play awsome solos and songs out of a couple of weeks of playing because of guitar hero.

2) download some custom songs and follow a tutorial to put them into the game

3) buy a playstation 2 to usb adapter so you can use a guitar controller because it only works with them
