  • @navaret86 Well if you're training, sure, you can do whatever you want but in competitions you have to touch your chest AND pause. My chest isn't all that big. I'm just a powerlifter. But for each person it's different. Almost everyone in my gym has had an injury but the closest I got to one was a sprained wrist, to God be the glory.

Some guys can touch their chest and sitll be at 90degrees because they have short enough arms. I'm not not saying this guy went to 90degrees i cudn't tell coz of the camera angle. Not trollin, just sayin.

This guy has obviously trained hard to get where he is at on this video so it's not really a fair judgement to be saying stuff like that on this video ;)

  • an arch does not produce any threat of injury. going all the way to the chest is a bodybuilders "rule of thumb" but those guys have 24" arms and a 3' thick chest. if you overextend your pectoral muscle by touching the chest and your forearm and bicep do not produce a 90 degree angle there is a greater risk of tearing your pectoral muscle apart. im 17 & 145lbs and have a 5 rep max of 205 with a one rep max of 245. you should take notes on this guys bench press. he DOES know proper techniqe.

  • @TheFlyGuy009 your legs usually come up when you are off balance or not used to the weight you are doing. Try to keep your arms fairly wide (not too wide) wide works more chest, inside works more triceps. try to make sure you have your hands evenly positioned on the bar, and keep your feet evenly separated on the floor. I dont do this myself cause i think its cheating but if your feet still cause problems coming off the floor, then point your feet downward and press into the floor

  • @sammy1995 it varyies from person to person. You want to put your feet under you a bit so you can get leg drive. If found that by turning my feet out like I do, I can arch my back and get great leg drive while keeping my butt on the bench. Hope this helps

  • @goose700 arching back is the last thing u wanna do on the bench... it might help your bench game in the short run but in the long run your just gonna speed up the cumulative injury cycle.... gonna end up with shot erectors... and instead of the belt... work on your core stabalizers

  • @sammy1995 Pull your feet back like he does in the video. He has good form, but adjust to your own comfort. You want to be able to bring your feet back and still keep your ass on the bench, along with having your shoulder blades tight in the bench and your back nicely arched. Having your legs back with give you a nice leg drive and a heavier, stronger, better bench.

  • @mtxewrestler that particular bench shirt anywhere from 100-150lbs. I was breaking in a new shirt so that is way I didn't touch my chest. My best to the chest with a shirt is 575 and my best raw is 450
