  • Thank you for the video! I did not know you could use non-stretchy for this type of wrapping technique!

  • @Luvmyhubbynmyangels Oh no worries at all :) I'm glad I could help

  • Thanks Baby Michael loved it when we tried this

  • Hi there, How long is the fabric that you used? And also.... with the older child you tied the fabric under her legs to secure her... how do you secure a newborn if it has no legs sticking out ( they're in the pouch)... ?

  • Love the video! And I love the name Lacey! Im going to name my daughter that! ♥

  • hai im shikin from malaysia how can i get wrap and how much reply me o my email please are_shekent@yahoo.com ok tq

  • Can you do this with one of those wraps the African women wear

  • OMG! That is the most Beautiful wrap! I just love it!! And I am new to BW with a wrap and I think this video is awesome and will be super helpful when I put my wrap on for the first time! Wish me luck!! <3

  • @ThePurpleNinja2010 Thank you! Good luck :)

  • Excellent video! I was wondering if you still make the wraps like you showed in the video? If so do you make them and sell them? I would love to buy one! Please email me at snowangel@pa.net! Thanks :)

  • Lovely video....I was just wondering, do you find that you get quite hot wearing this wrap? I am expecting at the momment and would like to 'wear' baby as much as possible, but being uncomfortably hot (and the baby overheating!) is something which concerns me.

  • @Heyetc

No I never found that AND that was when we lived in hot and sunny Queensland. You can get thinner more breathable fabrics too, which work well.

  • @TheGraceDiaries

Oh and good luck with the labour and birth and with the baby wearing, let me know how you go.

  • Nice Video... but the best part is how you continually kiss your baby. I have a 2.5 week old and I can't stop kissing him too! Whats the best carrier for a baby this young (2 1/2 weeks old)

  • @sholape

The woven wrap or stretchy wrap would probably be the best, or a ring sling (but they don't last long, in my opinion, because it is weight only on one shoulder). The ergo and mei tai, you have to wait a bit to use (unless you get the infant insert for the ergo) as their little legs can't get that wide. My favorite to recommend would be the woven, it just takes practice.

And I still kiss her all the time, one of my friends teases me for doing it all the time.

  • I have a question - can you do the same kind of hold with a stretchy wrap? I have a Moby and am using the hug hold, but this seems much simpler.

  • I think you can, i have a stretchy wrap also (not a moby but a sleepy wrap).

  • how much would you charge for a woven wrap Im in search for a reasonably priced wrap and yours looks great.

  • Its just the material really, i think i got this material on special for $6 a metre and I had to buy 4.5 metres, which made 2 wraps.

  • Love it! Thank you for sharing!!

I've been using the BabyBjorn and r ecently ound out it's not good for the babies spine+hip. So I'm looking into this "woven wrap" you're showing in the video. They are so wxpensive tho!!! I'm inspired to make one myself. Would you be able to tell me how much fabrique I would need? My baby is 5 months old...but a big baby (20lbs, 30 inches long) and I'm prett small like you.

  • I think mine is 4-5 metres long. And when you buy the material you cut it in half longways so it makes 2 wraps. That gives you one to share with a friend.

  • Hi Grace! Help!! I watched your video and went out and bought 3 metres of fabric - i'm not as thin as you, and as you could guess - it's too short!! I don't really want to go and buy another whak of fabric, do you think attaching another 1.5 metres is a good idea? How would you do it? (I take it your a pro sewer!) Thanks - Vanessa

  • Hi there, yeh i have made that mistake before, you do really need 4.5-5 meters. I wouldn't suggest sewing more on as it could make the wrap more prone to rip/break, but if you were to do it I would say you would have to do a french seam. Its where you sew it together then fold over the stitch and stitch again. I know that made no sense (really hard to explain), maybe if you google french seam it will show you a video.

  • Your Wraps are BRILLIANT!! And LACEY is BRILLIANT!! Thanx for taking the time to make such excellent informative vids!! I am trying to figure something out I can use for my newborn grandson!

  • Thank you very much, i suggest a stretchy wrap, you could make one yourself, no sewing required.

  • Great video Grace! How lovely to watch.

I babywear with the children I mind :) The one I carry most is almost 15 months, and the stretchy wrap is so loose now!

I would love a woven, I'm looking at the didymos, but would rather make one. Where did you find your fabric?

Cannot wait to post my own video like these. Thanks so much!

  • I just found my fabric in Spotlight. In the curtain material area.

  • Lacey is such a happy little girl, she is just beautiful :)

  • Do you sell on ebay or trademe(NZ) you should!! I'd Buy - loving them!!

  • No I don't but i do have a few people wanting some, so I would be happy to make one if you'd like to buy, I have 2 others wanting one too.

  • Great informative videos :) I've made one of those wraps with more stretch but I think it'll be best for a newborn :)

  • Yeh I have a few stretchy type ones too (ran out of time for video), they are great for nb's but as they get older, say 6 months, the woven are better.

  • i showed this video to my cousin who is a new mummy and she is very grateful, you have saved her alot of hassle and money. thanks very much

  • Thats great, im glad i helped

  • my daughter is a big girl she is 28 lbs almost 13kil! it kills my back to hold her on my belly like that..is their a weight limit to the wraps? Also how much does lacy weigh now?

  • Um no, you can hold toddlers in them too. the trick is to have them high up on your front and very close to your body. lacey is only just 8 kgs. the back carries would be good for you i think.

  • I love the idea of this wrap seems very comfortable! This may be a silly question but i was just wondering how u made it? im interested in doing that also..

  • its just a long piece of woven material (cotton duck or drill are good), mine is 4.5 meters by 60 cms and has a slight stretch on the diagonal. then i just finished the edges. one bit of material makes 2 wraps.

  • thats fantastic. i love this idea, is there a set measurement for the material in order to make it. Also what exactly is the material n is it easy to make?

  • Hiya, this wrap is 4.5metres by 60cms, you can even go up to 5 meters to 70 cms too. Out of the material i bought for this I made 2 wraps (i gifted the other one for a baby shower present). Find something strong like cotton duck or cotton drill, I don't know what my material is but it has a slight stretch on the diagonal. I just cut the material down the middle and finished the edges to stop fraying.

  • What a fantastic wrap Grace! This is definitely something I would find handy to be hands-free and close to Anthony at the same time.

He just LOVES to be carried!

Also, what a great label for all your creations!

    Mary (and Anthony 10 months)

  • Thanks, I got the labels made especially, I think I have 200 of them!! Yes these wraps are great.

  • I use the moby, but think that he might be getting too big. I do not suppose you could make a woven wrap for me. I will obviously pay, but I do not know how to so a lick and that is a really great wrap!

  • PM me

  • She is such a happy and beautiful baby!!! And you are such a great mum!

  • Thank you very much

  • I would suggest a stretchy wrap like a moby/sleepy or a woven like this one. I think the stretchy wold be more comfortable for a NB. There is a great NB hold called a cradle hold, look it up on YouTube. Also ring slings are good but again they are on one shoulder.

  • What would you recommend for a newborn. Im going to have a 2 and a half year old and instead of upgrading to a 2 baby pram i would like to ''wear'' the newborn :)
