  • This was my first DMB show as well. I was four rows from the stage I can't believe I found this video on here.

  • I miss LeRoi! How can you miss someone you've never met? I don't know, but I miss him. Maybe it's because I saw them seven times with LeRoi and once without.

  • right around 5:33 something about that image gives me chills

  • 0 dislikes. that should say something.

  • Anyone know where a stream of this song is?

  • I am so grateful to be able to listen to this gentlemen perform their art. You just can't die without listening to this song... Just can't!

  • @davispt86 i dont know if its the best version or not,but its definitely one of my favorites too.its just awesome to see and first of all to hear such great musicians jammin together the shit out of this friggin cool song :)

  • cool to see jeff and leroi together

  • Thank you for posting this! Great quality you captured a great moment

  • THIS VERSION IS AWSOME. THE SOUND OF CONGAS AND PERCUSSION GIVE A LOT OF FLAVOR TO THE SONG. I LIKE IT. 41 IS MY FAVORITE SONG

  • Generally I kill kittens to ease my pain of shite on youtube on this ocassion ..... mittens gets to live !

  • @kevinjamesomahony the English language however..wasn't so lucky

  • 3:28 LeRoi and Coffin playing side by side...what a photo that would be

  • As many live albums as they have.... why couldn't they put this on a disc pleeeease?!?!?!?

  • @BadTanLines it is on the Best of Whats Around Vol.1

  • @Testes1717 Nope its not.

  • @BadTanLines its on the encore cd..search Best of Whats Around Vol. 1 on wikipedia, it wont let me post the link for some reason

  • wow so amazing

  • This is not a performance, this is LEGACY

  • victor's pearly whites...still visible at 100 yds! i want bela's dental plan!!!

  • I seriously think DMB will be playing in heaven when I get there.. I <3 DMB

  • This whole song is incredible..simply incredible

  • if you want this song just go to google and search "4/20/02 #41" and it should be the first link.

  • what a trip!!! amazing, just..........amazing!!!

  • Holy shit! That was amazing. I thought the duel between Fleck and Wooten was awesome but Coffin absolutely steals the show. That was downright inspired! And, it's definitely a bittersweet image of Moore standing behind him and loving every minute of it. Anyway, thanks so much for posting this. This only has 21,684 views? Typical, but still a shame.

  • FROM ANOTHER WORLD

  • little did jeff know that 7 years later he would be taking over as sax player for the Dave Matthews Band. wow.

  • This is off the hook love ti 4 true

  • Just another video of DMB getting FLECKT-OWNED!!!

  • It's really awesome to see Jeff jammin to Roi's solo. That makes me happy. Miss you ROI!

  • Dave Matthews Band and Béla Fleck & The Flecktones. The perfect combination.

  • DMB's violinist is just not very good.... I'm sure I'll get ridiculed by the mass of worshippers now! Or maybe it's just that Bela and the boys are too much for DMB!! Now to the rest of the song..

  • Boyd Tinsley, and he is amazing.

  • FAR far FAR from amazing, my friend...

  • yea agree hes not very impressive

rest of the band is on it though

  • you're right, he's not very good on the large scale of violinists/musicians, but remember most performing violinsts aren't moving around stage and firing up a crowd, but regardless, for DMB he's perfect. he's a definitive part of their sound, that's for sure.

    plus BT is the man

  • yea i agree, he is too sloppy with his music and is really repetitive and predictable, i think he just outta stay in the studio where hes pretty good

  • haha. he barely plays in the studio. I love Boyd. i dont go to dmb concerts for some technical violin music. i'd much rather see Boyd sawing his violin across the stage and pumping up the crowd.

  • @zagaboot8o8

cualquiera, a lo sumo te molestara que sea medio pop tambien...

  • haha i've been listening to this exact same performance for years on the BOWA album, pretty cool to see what ive been hearing all these years

  • thank you jaybtv !!!!!

  • I was there!!!

  • yeah but especially in the beginning, if you turn up the volume it sounds sick

    my desk is shaking

  • What a joy listening the pleasure of play! DMB are an island in todays music! Amazed why they dont get more recognized!!

  • love the bass drum sound here

  • wow this is great

one of the fullest sounds ive ever heard that did'nt involve some type of keyboard player

  • actually butch taylor is playing during the whole song in the back

  • really? wow

everything blends so well its hard to hear

he must b plying very quiet

  • O my mistake.

  • Uhh, no it wasnt.

  • This is the day that the beautiful Layne Staley passed away.

    R.I.P.

  • best musical combo ever!!!!!!!

  • haha on 420

  • I wish I had that violinist's skills...but I wish more that I had his arms.

  • freakin awesome!

  • Wow... This is a treat to witness the video. The longest #41 ever!. I remember downloading this like 5 years ago. Epic

  • does anyone have the Bela Fleck and the flecktones show from Ottawa Bluesfest 2007?

  • This was my first DMB show. The next day I bought a guitar.

  • I now! Leroi Moore has inspired me to try to learn to play the sax.

  • @JonMAmor it also probably got you pregnant

  • I dont know how you got the sound so nice with this camera... but this is the best recording i have heard from a camera out of the audience.

  • Best live version imo....

  • i was at this show too. i remember standing there in tears. sounds faggy. but it is the truth. sorry to the fags that i offended you by using the word fag...and repeated times.

  • haha, craig

  • Haha, that funny. I don't think "Fag" has offended anyone since the 90's though.

  • This is so awesome, I was at this show... Jeff tore the ROOF off!

  • Is there a downloadable version of this, so I could get it on a cd?

  • this actual version of this song is on the dmb cd "The Best of What's Around Vol. 1" (on the encore cd). this is the longest performance of any song that dmb has done live ever!

  • Wait, I have that CD and MY copy doesn't have #41 on it anywhere.

  • on wikipedia, it said u had to preorder the cd or something to get this performance, or you had to request it. i could be wrong, cuz i got it off wikipedia.

  • Do you have this version?

  • unfortunately not.

  • Oh, bummer. I don't know if it's true then. I'm sure there'd be some kind of mp3 or something floating around out there. You can't trust wikipedia.

  • It was on a third bonus disc available to Warehouse members who preordered the two-disc version of BOWA, Vol. 1

  • layne staley r.i.p.

  • whos that?

  • Layne staley was the lead vocals in the band alice in chains. He died of a speedball overdose in the early 2000's

  • Does Boyd remind anyone else of a rooster during that solo?

  • The same way stefan kinda looks like a slinky

    lol

  • HAHHAA!!! HE IS A SLINKY

  • thats a lot of great musicians on one stage.

  • yeah, for real man. The sounds quality isn't the best on this recording and it still sounds phenomenal.

  • thank you for puttin this back up...best version out there

  • AWESOME Quality! Better than some pro footage. I'm diggin Bela's shirt!

  • this is by far the best version of 41.....ever. nothing is lax. absolutely perfect. thank you god for, if nothing, else DMB and the flecktones.

  • major props to whoever filmed this

  • I fully believe that if this version of #41 was condensed into pill form, it could very well cure cancer.

  • Well said!

  • damn straight yo

  • tottaly agree

  • i totally agree...if not cancer - at least a broken heart

  • Wow, awesome comment. Agreed.

  • yeahhh...finally found it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Best version of #41...ever.

  • I was there that night and it was absolutely one of the most amazing live performances I have ever seen. I 'll never forget it. We kept looking at each other going "is this for real?"

  • Best video on youtube.

  • Amazing..

  • one of boyds best solos on 41. Does Stefan ever bust a solo on this song?

  • No, stefan just stands there with his modulus higher than a kite and plays the exact same licks that he does every night like a robot. For Dave Matthews to be such an innovative guitarist, vocalist, and band they must just feel sorry for stefan to keep him around. I have heard bass players in house bands in bars that could play circles around Stefan. It has always baffled me how he got such a gig.

  • If your just looking for a good bass solo and not Stefan, Victor Wooton plays an awesome one on #41 in Chicago.

  • Check out this vid its just called victor wooten and carter beauford, its just the two of holding a funk type beat its real good

  • If youre talking about the Chicago concert from '98 I have to totally agree, I was literally just listening to it and it's my second fav version of #41 after this one.

  • Yeah man thats the one I'm talking about. I have to agree after this one it also is my favorite version of #41

  • the two best jam bands ever. period.

  • number one favorite song....unbelievable version, thanks for the post

  • The epic #41.....beautiful stuff right here. Thanks for posting this brother.
