we are teaching people not to kill by killing the people that kill, the example is flawed. if we want them to stop killing we can lock them up, then its expensive. we cant win.

Explain to me what exactly is your plan for someone who murders a family member of yours for instance that you loved dearly? Jail for life? okay but torture is worser than a one time shot of death, you can lock him forever in a cage like an animal but you won't benefit either way
