  • Meh, I didn't much care for the ship designs in this movie. They could have at least made the Enterprise somewhat resemble the original ship. The only design I really liked was the Kelvin. In fact, I kinda wish the movie had been about those guys instead of being a remake. It would be nice to see a movie with some new characters instead of the same ones we've seen a million times already.

  • @Trekfreek Why don't you just follow the prime directive and not interfere with the people who like this movie? For a fan of Star Trek you don't seem to agree with their views of peace and acceptance very much.

  • @PapercutTwilight If Kirk thought the way you doo, Oppress people on alien worlds would never have known freedom, the system fighting wars with computers would have never known peace, and the asteroid world would have never known the truth. True Trek fans seek the truth and stand up for Gene's vision of a future where Mankind works to improve themselves without the reward of power or money. The only thing new Kirk cared about was Power & Pike, new Spock wanted Revenge. That’s not Star Trek.

  • @Trekfreek In THIS MOVIE, the original Spock says that Kirk's father lived to see him become Captain. Before that there's no reference made to his father dying in anything except an expanded universe novel trilogy called 'Crucible' - the expanded universe's canonicity is sketchy at best and the rule most follow is that if something happens on screen it overrides what happens in a novel, the screen version is canon.

  • @PapercutTwilight This movie has written by people who never watched the show. If The Screen version is cannon than which is more cannon "Conscience of the King" (produced by Gene) or the new Star Wars version of Star Trek? Even Gene said that "not everything in The Animated series is cannon"; such as Vulcan's moons, and black holes being tunnels to alternate universes. What are cannon is everything produced/consulted by Gene Roddenberry. Everything else is excellent or shitty fan fair.

  • @Trekfreek Clearly in the original timeline his uncle didn't abuse him because his father was still alive. People deal with the loss of someone in different ways, and would you listen to yourself -every person is different, not all would break the law -it'd be retarded to have it be law you had to be married to have a child, which Kirk's parents probably were.

That's even without factoring in that it's a religious institution and not everyone is a follower of a religion with marriage.

  • @PapercutTwilight Sorry but people don't just become abusive when their brother dies. It's Stupid! And as fair as Kirk being a brat, Statistics shows that there are no correlations between being a criminal and not having any parents. It's a lame left wing concocted excuse for people’s bad behavior. The Same left wing that claims women have a right to have children out of wed lock and also wants to make red meat illegal.

  • @Trekfreek i dont care about other things u guys were on about, but having a parent die is a massive thing, and depending on who you are, you personality, and how you parent died and how you were brought up then and were after they died, you could become a criminal. some people handle it better, others dont, sure some people use it as an excuse but some times it is genuine. no arguement please, and to be safe, im not going to reply.

  • @itzAtrailerWarferret Question: Are you a student of psychology? If not than you don't know what you’re talking about. Where it is true that losing a parent can be traumatic but only if A, the other parent lets the trauma affect his/her child (90% of Single parents don't do that), B, the child obsesses over the lost, C, The child has a natural tendency for misbehavior that can only be curved if the child has a traditional home. That's not the real Kirk. The real Young Kirk was a square.

  • @itzAtrailerWarferret On the other hand Picard was a trouble maker. If he had lost his father he might have turned to crime, but definitely not Kirk. The writers of this movie do not know the characters at ALL.

  • @Trekfreek how do you know, that kirk didnt become the man we all know and love because a his farthers influence? you dont, so if his dad died he might not have had that influence and might have been a trouble maker himself before his dad taught him better and showd him how to act. so he could have been like that, jut sayn

  • @itzAtrailerWarferret First off the real Kirk lost both his parents when he was 13 years old. (Conscience of the King) That's Cannon Roddenberry said so. Nurture is a big part of who a person is, but its nature that defines us. As a student of psychology I have witness this first hand. Example: A divorced couple had a son who would lie steal and cheat, and manipulate people. He was raised by his father who had a reputation for honesty. His mother (who he barely knew) was just like him.

  • @Trekfreek sure

  • @itzAtrailerWarferret ""Sure"" What, as in sarcasm, as in total agreement or as in "I'm not listening because I know nothing about psychology but I know more than professionals because I read lame ass wikapedia"? “"Sure”" What?

  • @Trekfreek sure as in "your right"

  • @itzAtrailerWarferret Oh! Thank you. That's a first for me. Most of the time I get people who just want to argue instead of having an intelligent conversation. It's nice to find someone who will listen to people who have a firsthand account of the facts. :-)

  • Damn that was the best Star Trek movie EVER!!! Please tell me they are making more of them with this new OLD cast. Spock was excellent as was Kirk. I TRULY enjoyed the movie and they simply could not pick better actors to play the charachters. Stunning visuals and excellent storyline. Well done....peace

    PLEASE MAKE MORE LIKE IT!!

  • @PetefromTn I also though they had done a good job while casting the new Spock. he looks exactly like the old one! And he's a good actor (he played in Heroes series on TV). I liked the new Kirk. More human but also different because of the loss of his dad.

  • @Arianne2n First off The new Spock looks nothing like Nemoy did in the 60's or 50's. Also the new Kirk is less human than the original; the original Kirk had a hart and cared for his ship mates this new one only cares about getting his way. PS the real Kirk lost both of his parents to a butcher when he was 13 years old. The new Kirk never knew his father. You can’t miss what you never had.

  • @Trekfreek Even if he lost his parents doesn't mean it's not different, sir. and the new spock DO share a lot of similarities with Nemoy, physically. You can't even deny that! I personally think the new Kirk has this rebel-like personality of a boy who lost his parents and who has a strange childhood because of that. I mean. Anyway, stay the freak you are, but it's kind of annoying seeing you argue on every New Star Trek video since you're too stubborn to admit it's not a bad movie.

  • @Arianne2n Somebody call the wAAAAAAMbulance! Cry on Kid...Because you like a bad movie, period.

  • @Trekfreek from your profile "want palin for president" LOL "outgoing personality" -100 posts on all star trek 2009 trailers outgoing my ass! "hate rudeness" LOL being rude to at least 40 people LOL LOL LOL just LOL

  • @tmrcp3 From your profile United Kingdom= has no business in American politics. No personal list=selfish and/or self secluded. 23 years old= child, probably still thinks that politeness means getting your way. Outgoing means that I put myself out there for everyone to see. You like me great! You don’t Oh well I tried. I don’t hate anyone, I don’t hate you. Criticism is not hate kid. Not liking what you like is not hate.

  • @Trekfreek Wrong. Growing up without a father effects people all the time albeit in a different way. The only male role models this Kirk had were his big brother and abusive uncle. Also, you're talking bullshit about Kirk's parents -in the original Star Trek universe Kirk's father lived to see him become Captain of the Enterprise.

  • @PapercutTwilight The real Kirk talked fondly about his Uncle's farm, you don't do that if your Uncle is abusing you. Name 1 episode that states that Kirk's father lived to see him become Captain. Kirk was part of a colony when he was 13 years old, he saw the governor murder Parents & whole families; "Conscience of the King". We never see his parents just his Brother's family. If growing up with only 1 parent could make you breake the law than why is it not illegal to have kids out of wedlock?

  • @Trekfreek and about the Colony thing, clearly Kirk's father was the one to decide to move to a colony. His wife had other plans and they stayed on Earth.

  • @PapercutTwilight Oh Clearly... Like Milky water... Who is making shit up? Kirk was a Boy in Iowa but he never said when. He also refers to his Uncle's farm in Iowa. He could be referring to being raised by his Uncle after his parents were Murdered (13-21still makes you a Boy). There is nothing in the cannon of the show that says Kirk's dad and mom split. I go with what was traditional in 1960's TV and what was said in the show and movies. See “Star Trek Origins: Kirk” Here on YouTube.

  • @Arianne2n

Agreed The new Spock ROCKS!! Again Kirk was excellent as was Ohura and everyone else for that matter. I especially liked Bonesz!! Oh and by the way you look very beautiful in your avatar picture arianne... peace

    Pete

  • The only things that this movie made people think of was either "WOW isn't it perdy?" or "I Want My Money Back!". I challenge ANYONE to prove me wrong! What was the thinking part of this movie, what makes you defend it like your own child? Please confine your remarks to the movie; no lame excuses like "It made lots of money", "it won awards", "JJ Abrams Rocks", or "fuck you". Keep it civilized and clear. Don't be a popinjay when responding.

  • @Trekfreek We defend it not simply because it has the name Star Trek, but because it is Star Trek. It's not Star Trek simply because Kirk find an opportunity to get it on with the ladies, has his shirtless moment, and a red shirt is killed. It's Star Trek where it shows James T. Kirk as a man of action and going on his own instinct, yet reserved by asking himself if he's doing the right thing.

  • @Trekfreek It isn't Star Trek simply because they have a half human, half Vulcan science officer who was bullied when he was younger simply because he was a hybrid. It's Star Trek because it shows this very half human, half Vulcan at war with himself. Feeling the shame of allowing himself to feel, whether it's noble or not.

  • @Trekfreek It's isn't Star Trek because I recognize this from this episode or recognize that from that episode, or that Nero is Khan. No. It's Star Trek because it dives into humanity from a unique point of view. The ability to look beyond preconceptions, and to see who we are. How in this case Kirk and Spock went from not standing each others guts to developing the friendship that even to this day, no one has ever matched.

  • @Trekfreek It's Star Trek because it dives into what Spock said before, there are always possibilities. Not to defy logic, but to leap beyond logic. I apologize for coining The Motion Picture, but it's the best way to describe it for Trekkies.

It's Star Trek because it not only looks inside Kirk and Spock, but it also looks inside the villain. In this case, Nero. What pain can turn him into a real whack job? And how can hate and the thirst for revenge blind him so badly? Sound familiar?

  • @Trekfreek It's Star Trek because it doesn't do your thinking for you, it makes you think. It makes you ask questions. And of the most important questions that came from Jar Jar Abrams work, what's next?

It made me ask something else, even when exploring the final frontier, have we become too comfortable with what's familiar? To complacent that we are too afraid to actually see strange new worlds, and to seek out new lifeforms and new civilizations? That they need to be so familiar?

  • @Trekfreek And the reason you are comfortable as to why we defend Jar Jar Abrams Star Trek, it made lots of money, it won awards, JJ Abrams Rocks, and of course fuck you.

And being hypnotized by the lens flares also helped. Just like the bright light from the Genesis device when it was building up to detonation on Star Trek 2. Or the lens flare from the Enterprise firing quantum torpedoes on Star Trek: First Contact. And the V'Ger probe that killed Ilea. That light brought me in big time.

  • @Potrimpo TROLL!!! I hope Jar Jar is paying you enough.

  • @Trekfreek Aren't you just a little too hard on you opinions? I mean, perhaps it's too different from the star trek series, but it's not a bad movie. Actually I though it was a good scy-fy movie, and it was very well received by critics, who though the new style was reboosting the series well (it got 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is VERY GOOD and rare.) Anyway. Be frustrated, but please don't argue too much to make your point. you disliked the movie, but it's not necesarily bad because of that.

  • @Arianne2n No, The movie is BAD. Rotten Tomatoes is a ticket analyst site. It means nothing! I argue my point with facts. Where are yours? Just once ONCE I would like someone, ANYONE explain why it's "a good movie" Backed up with facts about film making, instead of "Oh Waa Ta Goo Syam...Star Trek (XI) we praise you...Oh Waa Ta Goo Syam...!"

  • @Trekfreek And well, Rotten Tomatoes only put the critics together, and a lot of critics were very good! you're points aren't fact. You're like that Potter freak who stated he possessed the truth about evey single argumentation. Stop it. A lot of people liked it, cinema experts critics veterans said it was a good reboost, they got awards. You're "facts" are opinions that convinces you enough to be the annoying starfreak you are. nobody can state what is agood actor and what isn't. just-stop-it.

  • I love how nothing about the promotions for this movie are deceiving. You get exactly what you expect and a little bit more.

  • DOWN WITH THE ENTERPRISE!!!!

    Love that song!!!

The funny thing is when you combine that Two Steps From Hell song with "War Begins", J.J. Abrams mixed both songs at 1:02-1:24...with no choir? Sad.
