@stevenscottoddballz when a meals taking up that much room they actually stick theyre trachea out of their mouth. i have a couple videos where you can see this happening
@seppukuification925 hes very picky that year wouldnt eat from the tongs. i would have to leave the food in there and wait till he just started eating it
In nature also they must eat but in nature animals are not detained and preys have the advantage of choose where to go, but if I had one reptilina in my house, I would feed them only with frozen food...at least to avoid suffering to other animals
Exotic animals, wild animals, were never meant to be confined. Would you think its ok to put an alligator in a fish tank? Or confine a lion, tiger, or chimp, to a cage in your apartment because you have a "passion" about it. That is selfish.
I agree, snakes are great. People who get enjoyment from watching live, helpless, defenseless, animals suffer a excruciating and painful death are really mentally demented. I would categorize the desire to participate and watch that type of behavior as borderline psychopathic. If someone actually enjoys participating and watching this there is something wrong with them.
I mean if snakes are your thing then it is what it is. I will never understand it but if it makes you happy that is great. I just don't see the entertainment value in taking something out of its natural habitat, sticking it in a glass box, putting artificial lighting on top, and feeding them rodents or bunnies. I am not saying this for shock value or to be a troll but I truly in my heart feel that snake and reptile people have something mentally wrong with them. No Offense.
I see no purpose in taking a solitary carnivorous mammal (a cat) out of it's natural habitat, just to make it chase laser pointers all day. Then allowing them to butcher a bunch of rodents or birds. I honestly think in my heart cat people have something mentally wrong with them. No offence.
Cats and their relationship with humans has dated back approximately 8000 years. As I'm sure you know they were domesticated and idolized by Ancient Egypt 3000-4000 years ago to kill vermin which ultimately saved lives because as you know vermin carry disease. There are health benefits to using cats to reduce vermin populations 4000 years ago in Egypt just as there is today. Your argument is invalid and illogical. Nice try though. Next.
So just because people have owned cats longer that makes them fine to own, but not snakes? This is nothing but your own personal bias. Which is understandable yet nothing but "invalid, and illogical." To think that because we have a passion for scaly creatures we have mental problems is quite frankly bullshit.
Besides, most people who own cats do not use them for catching vermin, they have them for companions, which is why we own reptiles.
Yes, animals that are domesticated over a period of 8000 years are fine to own. They are no longer "wild" and they are dependent on humans and need us to survive. As human beings, once we take on the responsibility of domesticating animals they become our responsibility and it is our duty to protect and care for them. A snake has never been domesticated, will never be domesticated, and cannot be domesticated. Snakes are not pets, they are wild animals.
But at one point cats were wild animals too, so by your logic it was wrong to domesticate cats in the first place. As for domesticating snakes? Technically they are domesticated, we have bred them in captivity and they live in our houses just like cats do.
Everything you just said about cats can be said for pet snakes too. My reptiles are dependent on me, and need me to survive, and are no longer "wild" as they have been bred in captivity.
So how you feel about someone that wanted to keep a chimpanzee in their home? Or keep a tiger in a pen in their backyard? Or keeping an alligator or crocodile as a pet? Do you believe all animals on this planet were meant to be used as pets as we please or do you draw a line somewhere? I am interested in your response to this.
Okay keeping an animal that is capable of seriously wounding, or killing a human is not acceptable. Nor is keeping an animal that would be unhappy in captivity.
Keeping a moderately sized snake that is perfectly content with being in captivity is not a problem in my mind.
A pet should fit this criteria:
Be small enough to not present a threat to an adult human
Be content with being in captivity
Good temperament.
And be easy enough to take care of for the average person 2 own 1.
@Ultimategrid And as you know snakes just don't stop growing. What do you suggest an owner does with a snake such as a Python once it does get to a size where it can harm a person? That is one of the reasons why there is such a hugh problem in Florida with owners who release their snakes into the wild. Pythons are causing major destruction in the everglades. Google "python everglades" and you will get the recent story of the 16 foot python that was just captured there.
Four types of snakes are large enough to pose a threat to a human, I dont believe that they should be pets for the average person.
Yes snakes never stop growing but they do have limits, I'm not going to have my corn snake grow to 10ft.
As for the problem in the everglades, the damage that these snakes do is NOTHING compared to feral cats/dogs. So far no one has been harmed by one of these snakes, and although it needs to be stopped it's not as bad as the media makes it out to be.
I am just trying to understand where you draw the line when it comes to owning wild/exotic animals. You mentioned that people should not own the four types of snakes that pose a threat to humans. Is that where you draw your line? Do you feel it is ok to own any type of animal as long as it does not pose a threat to humans?
@crakadocious the rabbit could have been pre killed which means the original breeder of the rabbits kills them and freezes them, the snake owner thaws them out and feeds the snake the de thawed rabbit. im pretty sure thats the case here because the rabbit looks wet. i understand your feelings toward the issue but not every person who owns a snake likes watching the prey suffer. please think before you write mean comments on peoples pages.
@rodriguez491 There is nothing sick about observing a fascinating part of nature. Ever watch Animal Planet, or Discovery Channel? I don't think that many people out there view things like this with sadism in mind.
@theameer2 its great once they get that big, you dont even notice theyre that big until you take them out of the enclosure one day and the tail is dragging on the ground lol
With such big meals I have seen snakes eating, how do they breathe while having the meal go down their throat?
