The video doesn't take the song so literally, as you noticed, and it really didn't have to. I mean, the Paris nights and New York mornings in the lyrics are symbolic: when you go out at night with the one you love, you feel like you're in the most romantic city in the world. When the sun comes up, you feel happy and full of potential, like you're living the life in the big city. That's what I think, anyway...
