  • Having just stumbles upon this posting, and do intend to follow up, may I remark that I feel that there is no 'shame'...they gave their youth to support the families they left behind, now should be their time, may they live to enjoy their return. If I can surport in even a small way, please contact me. God bless you all.

  • I currently work with Aisling and would just like to say a massive thankyou to everyone who has supported us over the years. And thankyou for making this film and increasing Aislings profile. Very impressed.

  • You are very welcome.

We are delighted to be able to support Aisling with our work.

We wish you and all at Aisling all the best.

    Kind regards from

  • You are spot on there.

  • I took my grandad back to Dublin b4 shortly b4 he died and i'm so glad i did. I've never heard of your organisation even though u have been running for 15 years! Maybe more publicity is required from the Irish embassy or somewhere is required to highlight this problem...200 Irish in that hostel! out of 400! However, again, i'd just like to say that your doing really genuine good work by delivering the motherland back to the people who love it, well done and Slainte.

  • Thank you very much for your comments. Good to hear about your trip with your grandfather.

35,000 people have seen this video on Youtube, this is one way of highlighting the work Aisling do. The video was featured on YouTube in the UK and Ireland over the St Patrick's Day Holiday.

Pass the video link on, and all the best to you.

  • ooh me grapes

  • As an Irishman who has only returned twice in thirty years I enjoyed this Video alot. There is so much to miss too

  • im so tired. so very very tired.

  • Yep but dont you tink the mountains have changed since you left and then come back again?

  • Great showcase for the Irish scenery and a very worthwhile project too, I hope to visit the country sometime soon.

I never knew this project existed, its a very novel way of giving something back to people (the old and mentally ill*) who often get sidelined by mainstream charity.

Makes me want to do something similar.

    *If thats the correct term.

  • All the best of Luck to You.

    God Bless.

  • Excellent. Very impressive work. Actually a bit envious of your job. God Bless.

    From Switzerland.

  • Thanks M

You are right, their work is impressive.

We will pass your comments onto Aisling.

Wyllie O Hagan's input in Aisling is by supporting them, through our art practice - in this case - by making and promoting their work through this video.

We wish you all the best.

Now ES, we will pass you comments on to the wonderful Aisling. We - like you, are supporters of Aisling. Wishing you all the best.

Now, Wyllie O Hagan are supporters of Aisling. We made this video with Aisling and will pass on your lovely comments.

On a personal note, we have made a dream of ours come through.

Our dream was to have a film about Ireland that had some substance and meaning - featured on YouTube this St Patrick's Day 2008.

We are delighted that Aisling was the film featured on Youtube in both Ireland and the UK.

    :)

  • Seamus' translation of Beowulf is in my opinion the best ever, and his interest in the pre-ANglo Saxon language which of course relates to his Celtic background added a different and fascinating angle..superb

  • What a coincidence - i'm studying Seamus Heaney's poetry which focuses a lot on Ireland's past struggles and pays homage to his birthplace in Ireland.

  • Thank you very much for your comments. Good to hear you are studying Heaney.

Have you seen our The Wild Swans at Coole - how to print a poem video?

That was featured not so long ago.

    All the best.

  • hello from Derry, Happy St.Patrick's day im blocked bin drinkin al day

  • Happy St Patrick's Day to Wee Champion Derry.

  • thankyou have u had a nice day. I am an Irish History and Politics student i'm from England

  • Wherever you are from weechampion, we wish you all the very best this St Patrick's Day.

Great name you have there. All the best with your studies too.

  • All racist comments will be deleted.

  • Ok, what part of Ireland were you?! You need a reality check. Ireland is far from the place in your head filled with too many peasant folk. We have one of the fastest growing economies in the world! I don't live anywhere near a bog not that there should be negative attachments to anyone living near one! I might believe your comments if they were based o facts but you have haven't used any. You have simply shown your ignorant opinions.

  • hmmmm

  • And what exactly do you base your stupid and ignorant comments on? I'm Irish and I am far from stupid. Keep your generalising and offensive comments to yourself.

  • Get a life! What kind of person makes such a general and ignorant sweeping statement like that? You must have a very sad life if you genuinely believe what you wrote. I feel sorry for you.

  • Nice video...it would also be nice if someone doesn't care for it to move on to another video, rather than show how racist and ignorant they are...from a very proud Irish American woman!

  • 14th comment!? :D

  • Well its St. Patricks day so the video is obviously going to be something about Ireland. Its and allright video with quite a good concept of filming the car journy... but I don't know wether it should have been featured as it doesn't suit the viewing style of most people using youtube.

  • ive been homeless in America, since our criminal banking system forclosed my inheritance on my "moms" death.I was comforted by discovering she was not my true mother. Delighted to find my real familys rich history in Wexford. Sinnott on my navy fathers side, and Nangle on my birth mothers.I work as a celtic street musician. any chance of getting back a little piece of what cromwell stole? (trust in God, and sin not)

  • 10th comment!

  • An excellent video as always ladies, not sure how I missed it but there you go! Congrats on being featured too, you will now recieve more adoring fans than you'll know how to deal with, you deserve it for your efforts in promoting wonderful Ireland, it's culture and characters ... HEY EVERYONE, PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO WYLLIEOHAGAN NOW!:))

  • Thanks for that AJP.

Been out with our visitors all day, so just got home to see we have been featured. Will catch up with you later. All the best

  • It is good to see YouTube being used like this.

Good wishes to all at Aisling for St Patricks Day and beyond.

  • love thisone, really great message x

  • Thanks LAB

    Your comments are appreciated.

  • Wow, what a beautiful country. Really neat that you filmed the car ride. That is nice. This is a great project that Alex McDonnell is coordinating.

  • Thanks very much PM.

Alex and his team do a great job here in London.

  • I hope that this video will reach people who would enjoy taking time, effort and money to help continue to make the Aisling Project the success it is. Good wishes to the community of Irish gentlemen who have lived and worked here in London for the last 30 or more years. And well done that man too.

  • Thanks very much DW. That man's name is Alex Mc Donald - Alex as project worker has been with Aisling since the very beginning 15 years ago. He is a credit to the Irish community in London.

  • What a great project! Thanks for raising my and others awareness of it by making this video.

  • Thanks MaireMc.

We've known Alex and Aisling for about 8 years or so. They've been going for 15. We were delighted that Alex agreed to do this interview with us. We are driving through Barnesmore Gap here. We'd be grateful if you would direct people to the video, so we can show what Aisling is doing. Thanks

  • I certainly will direct people to this.

  • I used to work for the Cable Street Project in London's Eastend So many of the 'Gentlemen of the Road' came from Ireland. They came looking for the streets paved with gold and lost their way back home again. This is a wonderful idea.

  • Thanks Yellowlabrador.

With your experience you can appreciate how valuable this organisation is to people.

    Wishing you all the best.
