At least it was still black in this video. I think it's wonderful that 614 is being restored for use again, but the green paint looks like crap. This Locomotive should be Black and Classy, not green and gaudy.
i read a post stating that she was going to be a STATIC good will embassador that was about a week or so ago wether or not its true i dont know for sure but im praying that its not true an that soon she'll be on the high iron strutting along effortlessly at 40+ mph where she belongs and not on display slowly rusting away
Unfortunately the 614 will never see CSX trackage...it just won't happen. CSX is just too anti-steam. Ross is a great man but it just isn't in the cards.
@rubenisapanic It will not happen CSX has stated time after time they will not allow any steam on their rails at all. They wouldn't even let western maryland scenic 734 go 10 miles down their line to reach a rail festival! Chances are 614 will be on permant display because I don't see CSX changing their ways.
Long Live C&O 614!!!!!!! I had a few rides in the open car from Hoboken,NJ to Port Jervis,NY back in '98. I fell in love with the loco then. I will travel anywhere it takes to be carried by 614 again.
As of today the 614 is being moved to Roanoke, Virginia for display along side former N&W #611 for about 2 months for an display of Modern Steam Power.
After that the #614 will be moved up to Clifton Forge,Virginia to the C&O Historical Society for display and restoration hofully to service for the Greenbriar Express.
@yerkees9891 Awwh man that's a shame. I really wish I could get to see her run again. I rode on 614 in 97 when I was only 3 years old, so I don't really remember much at all. I hope she gets steaming somewhere
I'll believe it when I see it. No one loves big 4-8-4s more than me, having grown up behind the 2102, but I find it better not to pin my hopes on pipe dreams
at 0:20 you filmed a C&O Kanawha why did you think that was 614 not a kanawha?!

@darkhound891 she'll be on display until csx allows steam on their tracks. then she'll be operating.
rubenisapanic 4 months ago
@rubenisapanic i hope csx will allow steam on their tracks due to the renewed norfolk southern steam program

@1190jth just because you dont see it dosent mean it wont happen. lol

@rubenisapanic as long as CSX's current management is in place their will be no heritage units and no steam whether we like it or not

trainmanben1 , The locomotive has not been bought by the Greenbrier hotel, Mr. Rowland is still the owner.
I work with the Greenbrier Express Co. and I been a close friend of Mr. Rowland for 15 years.

Google the Yellow Ribbon Express, that's the project that the 614 will be involved with in the coming years
AlexR47x 1 year ago
@AlexR47x The Yellow Ribbon Express is essentially dead. 614 is now tied to the Greenbrier Express, if CSX ever lifts their no steam ban

Sad reality is 614 will not be returning anytime soon.

Looks like this one has come true. The GBX is a go according to Mr. Rowland himself (unless someone posing as him made the statements today).

@onetowatch111 the GBX is a go; 614 pulling it is not
