i've accidentally found this band a few days ago and it suddenly became one of my favorite bands! All their songs are so deep and beautiful!

It sounds like tool because the beginning riff is just a really oversimplified version of the intro riff to schism. Not that they're ripping off tool, but it's the same underlying rhythm and notes

Really? I'd have used the term "different" rather than oversimplified. Face it, you can call just about 60% or more of all modern music an "oversimplified" or "overcomplicated" version of something else. I don't really even see any cross influences here, but I'm not an audiolitist. :P

Part of what I have enjoyed about Taproot is watching them expand outward. Taking their original fundamentals and adapting them in different ways from each CD. This song, though very different from how Taproot started, is one of my favorite, because you get to see how much Stephen has grown as a vocalist, and how much the band has learned and grown. A decade strong now, no line-up changes, and still rockin' out. Truly inspiring.

Great song. Yes, Taproot sounds similiar to those bands, but they add their own unique-ness to their music as well. With all the music around in this day and age it is impossible to be 100% original. (Unless of course you're the mindblowing awsomeness that is THRICE. Then you can write whatever killer music you want and it will be great)
