  • I love how you can tell the residents are musically genius because even though they don't apply conventional musical methods, they do employ their own conventions. It's reminds me of when I was in grade school I had a teacher who would give 105% to anyone who got a 0% on their test.

  • i love the residents!!!! i love primus!!! rip snakefinger!!!

  • ~tweek~

  • I think I prefer The Residents over Primus, because Primus has more rock put into it. They're both good bands, its just The Residents seem more unique.

    >3 month old comment reply, oh well.

    I really like both.

But I see Primus as more of a gimmik of the 90's. I like to jam to them and still have them on my iPod, and Claypool and Herb is one of the best musical combos ever.

But The Residents are so different from anyone else (maybe I haven't looked that hard) (not to say that Primus isn't different), but while I see Primus as a gimmik, I see The Residents as timeless.

  • @ThePlatapus Well, to me the residents are a little weirder than primus, but both are great. Oh and primus is not a gimmick band.

  • @musiclover01ization

No, no, no, I meant to say Residents are far weirder then Primus.

And I dunno, I just see Primus as kind of a 90's novelty. But that's just me I guess :/

  • @ThePlatapus this isn't about being "weirder". It about creativity. Both band have their own creative flow that are great in their own right.

  • I think John Lennon provided the best translation of 'Avant Garde'. Shame he changed his mind afterward.

  • does anyone else know anymore bands with good surreal songs besides the residents and ween?

  • @AaronBaker12345 Primus

  • Geniuses that they were, I wonder if the Residents themselves even realized what ... geniuses...they were...

  • this band is so creepy, but i love it... i cant get enough of this

  • I just found out they're from 1966 or 1969. damn, why haven't I heard this before?

  • @MrProfessornutbutter Especially with a user name like that.

  • @MrProfessornutbutter yeah, a friend of mine, told me the connection.

  • @MrProfessornutbutter I know what you mean. After listening to Primus for most of my life, I just found out that Hello Skinny/Constantinople were covers....

  • @nectarguru same here

  • @MrProfessornutbutter i know its weird theyve been around that long

  • @bendesmond66 since the 60s? who knew? and what's weird people tell me about them now and a band called Aquabats, I dig too

  • I REALLY wished the intro from the video was also included on the studio version. I loved the first twenty seconds or so of the video.

  • Agreed. It almost sounds like sonar pings.

  • One of the most bizarrely listenable albums ever made. Part of me is terrrified of this music and part of me can't look away. You can probably guess which half is winning.
