Really, who gives a SHIT if the Cure is considered goth, new wave, heavy rock, death metal, emo or whatever else people want to label them as. They only need two labels: unique and influential. This song is hauntingly beautiful, whether he's talking about sexual abuse, spiders eating him...whatever you want to interpret it to be. Maybe that's what the Cure's main point was: leaving it open for the listener to interpret. Certainly makes it more interesting than listening to you assholes argue.

I remember this song from '89. It was hard for many to get exposed to this song, or even The Cure, after '83 because the rest of the decade was almost completely hijacked by hair metal. Don't get me wrong, I listened to my share of that as well. But there were sooo many talents, like Robert Smith, who simply didn't get the exposure they deserved.
