My 3g wasn't pairing. I tried power cycling the phone, then it paired no problem. That might work for you...

this is a little late of a reply, but my jawbone was doing the same thing, but It turns out i was pushing the button but it wasnt registering, so i kept pushing the button in different places and it worked finally. maybe you are having the same problem.

Perfect! I'm not terribly tech-savvy & was relying on the Jawbone manual which doesn't tell you much.
