Thx bro loved the vid i thought it was great it is hard for me because i have been trying and trying to get a really good ear splitting squeely sound. but i cant at the moment i just dont understand what to do with your thumb? any suggestions would be great thx again for the vid
I don't know WHAT the hell I'm doin wrong...I've got an epiphone special II, a rogue rt100 (tele), and a bcrich warlock-kerry king style...thgose r the main 3 I use, being they're n the best shape of the 7 I have. I'm having MORE luck with YOUR pick method, that's how I usually old the pick so it just makes sence lol. But any suggestions at all? I'm not quite gettin the squeel.
If your getting the artificial/pinch harmonic sound, your doin it right! Dosnt matter if you use the tip of your nose as long as something interupts the natural vibration of the string.
@SimplyChr15 Yeah, you're still doing them. However I think it's much easier to do them by using your thumb, which gives you an easy and quick way to do it after doing a downstroke. But the palm method might be more versatile, not sure.
@SimplyChr15 I sumtimes do 'em with my ring or pinky finger of my pick hand, it depends which Node (point of string where it stops vibrating, and there's a few) you're going for. Good video by the way!.
nice vid. i've only got my steel string with me but when i get home i'll give this a crack on one of my real axes. i've been having trouble with pinch harmonics (i'm self taught and haven't been able to find a good instruction set for them). cheers
why does everyone use your thumb. I don't know why, but i never get great squeels, i use surface of my middle finger (bent position to where it points out) and I get MUCH better squeels, but the draw back is I can only pick upwards b.c of the position, oh well.
I prefer your method. I actually did mine like that unconsciously even before I saw this-I just assumed that's how they were done. What's all this "choke up on the pick hurr durr" shit?
They are alright, but I like my Ibanez INF pickups better. My Ibanez is a RG370 so I think they are INF 5 and 6 maybe? but yeah The LH-300 are pretty good, just don't get them close to the strings and it won't be as rough sounding.
I never understood pinching from videos, if you don't mind i'm just going to leave word of advice here. After you strum the string with your pick, simply stop a bit of the vibration of the string by LIGHTLY touching your thumb against it, then do a vibrato in the same sequence. If you try it a few times I garentee you will understand what I am talking about. And as for this video, nice job man!
dude thanks a lot i was trying to figure it out on my own how to do it without holding it close cuz i don't like to play like that, but i couldn't get it...so thanks!
Definetly, Everyone plays differently and enjoys certain styles of picking. I personally changed my picking style about 5 times since i started, mostly having to do with the rotational position of my picking hand. a good teacher for beginners is Kristopher Dahl on Ultimate guitar dot com. Some people think he's cheesy but i learned a lot from his video lessons

I don't think I'm doing it right
the way I do pitch harmonics is that I touching the string
on the right side of my hand or the pad of my hand (between the pinky and the rist area)
my question is am I still doing a pitch harmonic? just another way of doing it haha
please answer back.......anyone

Is this a LTD or a ESP by any chance ???
poolzy69 2 years ago
yes, it's an ESP brand LTD alexi laiho 200, somewhat on the cheaper side but not a bad guitar.
AspiretoShred 2 years ago
been trying to do this for ages. this was the only video on youtube which I had success with. so thanks a lot for that.

I agree with you on holding the pick out more. When you hold it out more and go an an angle on the string it really screams.

gawd damn you have bad taste in guitars.
