  • ugly guitar. and your tshirt is dirty :D

  • That guitar is pretty ugly and big.

  • Thx bro loved the vid i thought it was great it is hard for me because i have been trying and trying to get a really good ear splitting squeely sound. but i cant at the moment i just dont understand what to do with your thumb? any suggestions would be great thx again for the vid

  • lol

  • Thanx brah. I like this better.

  • you r cute....

  • the problem i'm having is that i am completely muting the string with my thumb. how hard you suppose to hit your thumb on the string?

  • I don't know WHAT the hell I'm doin wrong...I've got an epiphone special II, a rogue rt100 (tele), and a bcrich warlock-kerry king style...thgose r the main 3 I use, being they're n the best shape of the 7 I have. I'm having MORE luck with YOUR pick method, that's how I usually old the pick so it just makes sence lol. But any suggestions at all? I'm not quite gettin the squeel.

  • SimplyChr15:

If your getting the artificial/pinch harmonic sound, your doin it right! Dosnt matter if you use the tip of your nose as long as something interupts the natural vibration of the string.

  • I don't think I'm doing it right

the way I do pitch harmonics is that I touching the string

on the right side of my hand or the pad of my hand (between the pinky and the rist area)

my question is am I still doing a pitch harmonic? just another way of doing it haha

    please answer back.......anyone

  • @SimplyChr15 Yeah, you're still doing them. However I think it's much easier to do them by using your thumb, which gives you an easy and quick way to do it after doing a downstroke. But the palm method might be more versatile, not sure.

  • @AspiretoShred

yeah my friends don't even know how I do pitch harmonics with my palm

they said "thats amazing" I tried teaching them how but they didn't get it

least u know wat I'm saying..somewhat manybe haha

  • @SimplyChr15 I sumtimes do 'em with my ring or pinky finger of my pick hand, it depends which Node (point of string where it stops vibrating, and there's a few) you're going for. Good video by the way!.

  • cool guitar

  • nice vid. i've only got my steel string with me but when i get home i'll give this a crack on one of my real axes. i've been having trouble with pinch harmonics (i'm self taught and haven't been able to find a good instruction set for them). cheers

  • @nitestick89

    Cool man, wish you luck

  • @nitestick89 same here. i'm self taught

  • why does everyone use your thumb. I don't know why, but i never get great squeels, i use surface of my middle finger (bent position to where it points out) and I get MUCH better squeels, but the draw back is I can only pick upwards b.c of the position, oh well.

  • Is this a LTD or a ESP by any chance ???

  • yes, it's an ESP brand LTD alexi laiho 200, somewhat on the cheaper side but not a bad guitar.

  • been trying to do this for ages. this was the only video on youtube which I had success with. so thanks a lot for that.

  • I agree with you on holding the pick out more. When you hold it out more and go an an angle on the string it really screams.

  • gawd damn you have bad taste in guitars.

  • hahaha, I've also got an Ibae nez RG370 which I more. You might still think I've got bad taste, can't afford gibson's though

  • the Ibanez RG is sick dawg. im about to get one of those myself.

im just not a fan of the flying V, lol, they look funny.

  • cool man, to each their own. yeah love the RG

  • can u do it without a tremolo on a squire

  • yes its the pick and bending the string the tremolo bar is just to make it sound cooler lol

  • I prefer your method. I actually did mine like that unconsciously even before I saw this-I just assumed that's how they were done. What's all this "choke up on the pick hurr durr" shit?

  • Thanks..... it was very fine.....

  • your voice is fucking annoying but cool video

  • uncalled for

  • i always played with alot of pick sticking out, but i learned both ways of pinches, i find the choked up version easier

  • treh mow low

lol asides from that, thanks alot! ive tried it your way and it works well with my style.

  • haha good lesson

    AND MR CROWLEY ROCKS

  • I don't play like that. Sticking out about a quarter inch. Classic. Vai diapers.

  • no it is not....that's ESP Alexi Laiho 200....

  • is it a rhandy rhoads custom

  • no its an alexi 200 read the description

  • I noticed you use the dunlop Jazz picks (black) hehe. I use red. Jazz picks rule

  • My brother was teaching me this but i still cant get it right.

  • If i can help let me know

  • I was practicing the way you did it and it was better then I used to do it but I still cant get it as loud as you did.

  • Try when doing it Hold it closer to the fret metal and you should get louder squeals

  • Oh ok thanks.

  • No problem so did my advice work?

  • I didnt try it yet cause I need new strings. lol

  • Ah i see well it should work

  • Hopefully.

  • Make sure you use a LOT of distortion

  • I actually perfected my squeals now. lol

  • whats your opinion about esp lh-300 pinkups?

  • They are alright, but I like my Ibanez INF pickups better. My Ibanez is a RG370 so I think they are INF 5 and 6 maybe? but yeah The LH-300 are pretty good, just don't get them close to the strings and it won't be as rough sounding.

  • Where can you get one of those guitars???

  • 3:08 he does that riff from mr crowley

  • btw i got the alexi 200 but left-handed, nice choice man.

  • yeah lefties! i got a lefty 200 too

  • I never understood pinching from videos, if you don't mind i'm just going to leave word of advice here. After you strum the string with your pick, simply stop a bit of the vibration of the string by LIGHTLY touching your thumb against it, then do a vibrato in the same sequence. If you try it a few times I garentee you will understand what I am talking about. And as for this video, nice job man!

  • dude thanks a lot i was trying to figure it out on my own how to do it without holding it close cuz i don't like to play like that, but i couldn't get it...so thanks!

  • of course glad i could help

  • Never really got pinch harmonics. I always did it in a funky way with the pinky finger. But this way is pretty easy. Thanks for the video, man.

  • Definetly, Everyone plays differently and enjoys certain styles of picking. I personally changed my picking style about 5 times since i started, mostly having to do with the rotational position of my picking hand. a good teacher for beginners is Kristopher Dahl on Ultimate guitar dot com. Some people think he's cheesy but i learned a lot from his video lessons
