Jimi's influence on McCready is so transparent on this song. But it's incredible how Mike took so much from him and expanded and adapted to create his own style instead of just recycling Jimi's stuff like most quasi-guitarists have done. :)
the guitar line at Pi - 1 is brilliant, a break from the ordinary tricks... His tone is fabulous. All this put aside, this song WAS probably the best cut on the album (although EC's stone free was preety darn good too) and IS simply amazing, STILL TODAY. MACC truly gave a new life to this song.
Thanks for posting this !!! I knew about this tribute album, and it's been a long time since I heard this song. Cornell's voice is simply amazing, and McCready' sound is so distintictive, that whenever you hear that guitar, you know is him who is playing.
Awesome. Thanks so much for posting this song. Its been WAY too long since I heard it last. I remember buying this CD specifically for this song. Cornell and McCready do a fine job filling Jimi's shoes for this one.

@mlbloverock Wow. I never knew that, but I had this album & Loooooovvve this song. I can't believe i never realized this was him. I guess this was before I loved Soundgarden.
@mlbloverock I've been a huge Soundgarden fan since Badmotorfinger and this is one of my favorite cuts from Stone Free....but I had no idea this was Chris Cornell & Co. until I read your comments. Awesome!

Arguably the best cover on this disc... coming from both a HUGE SG and JH fan. Thanks for this.
