I have many times watched and listened "Barcarolle" by Anna Netrebko and Elina Garanca, and every time I look and listen to it as a miracle ...

I agree that Caballe/Verrett pairing is better in comparison with this performance. However, this seems to be a kind of rehearsal where the singers work on their voices and less on their expression. Anna seems suffering while singing, Elina is beautiful but a bit harsh, like a wild cat. Anyway, they will be diva's when much older and fat... Try to listen to their voices without looking at them (roll the video) . They are really good.

Garanca and Netrebko are wonderful, beautiful and young. But Sutherland, Horne, Caballé, Berganza shall not be dismissed in front of these two young stars.

One always has to remember that we see two of the greatest singers of our time. Singing together in perfection - adding up to almost one multi coloured voice - not acting against each other or trying to exceed the other.

That's very enjoyable- it is interesting to see them singing in a rehearsal setting. The Barcarolle has so much more meaning when it is sung away from the rest of the opera- it's so moving, and I rarely notice it as such during the full "Hoffmann."

I love this video, thank you, whoever posted it. Such emotion, such co-operative harmony, with both women singing with each other, not trying to out-do one another. I enjoy the informal attire worn by these consummate professionals when they're out of the public eye, but still at work. Gives it a 'Saturday afternoon at the park' look, and let's face it, the price is right! Hats off to the main singers, to the choir, the conductor, and the orchestra. Top Notch!
