I dont respect the govt of Egypt under Mubarek, i respect the people, dont confuse the two. Egypt makes war plans against Israel even though it has a long-standing peace treaty and no threat. Egypt has allowed smuggling of much weapons to Gaza which were used to attack Israel, which shows some hostile intent even if it's better than most other middle eastern countries. Egypt also has a growing Islamic brotherhood problem so todays army might be tomorrows Brotherhoods weapons in 10 years. This isn't about not trusting Egypt today, it's not knowing where Egypt will be in 10-15 years.

Arm smuggling is nothing new, And it's almost impossible to guard against, It almost like Drug smugglers, People have Money and will always find some poor person to be bought out. But you can't blame the Egyptian gvt, for that.
