  • Obviously this interviewer, however attributed he may be, is taking a quite obvious bias in his questioning. I admire Howard for how he handled it and his responses. Sure, no politician can have a perfect track record, but most of the things Howard did put Australia into the position it is today and that is well above any European or N.A country. His immigration views were sound and the Australian republic supported him. Sure, you can say we were wrong or racist, but our sovereignty allows us.

  • Ahh deerr Howard, it was the people on the boat who were uniquely placed to know what was going on, you idiot. It's when you talk over others (and don't think we can't recognise your tactic of saying 'no no no no no no' to silence the interviewer) these occasions reveal your dishonesty.

  • Why is he on about Kyoto? It hasn't eventuated to anything near what was expected of it. A U.N. official even said in a TIME magazine issue that Kyoto has not made a real difference, rather "raising awareness". I think we were all aware of the issue anyway. I can't believe people voted for Rudd because he promised to ratify Kyoto. The protocol hasn't done any good and neither has Rudd!

  • I am suprised that Australia support Howard for so long! Shame on us! I love how he talks over the top of the interviewer! so funny!

  • @boniwee we didn't support him as such its just at the time of the 2001 and 2004 elections we had Afghanistan (very rarely do countries change Government during war) and the children overboard scandal (which was a lie and a crime).

  • would you rather a farmer? soldier? Bussinessman? And anyone else who have actually acheived things in life like John Howards Government???Or a bunch of fat overweight lying theiving fatheads who have never run a bussiness or acheived anything in life, like the Rudd Government,to bankrupt and put Australia under debt owing to China, and open the Australian borders to people smugglers??? 100 boats have arrived here illegally.2003=100,000 immigrants to Oz.2009=300,000 immigrants to Oz.John or Rudd?

  • To be fair, howard was a great leader because he had a clear vision and the strength of character to stick to it.

Whether you agree with him or not is one thing, but he *was* a great leader.

  • John Howard is a perfect example of a weak leader who 'divides and conquers' to maintain his hold on power. These pathetic aussie sympathizers are part of an electorate that is blind to such knaving political maneuvering.

And I can't believe they made such a big fuss about you referring to John Howard as the 'President of Australia'. It goes to show how little substantive argument they_ have, that they throw pedantics at you. Continue your good work, Sylvie!

  • "He pits brother against brother, sister against mother."

You say that yet you totally hate your fellow brothers (australians) You are very sad.

  • John Howard is not a leader. He is a fear monger, appealing to the dark side of humanity. He pits brother against brother, sister against mother. And for what end? To serve his twisted narrow ideology and his ego.

When his party lost in_ the 2007 Election, not even his successor Peter Costello (the second in command!!!) wanted anything to do with the Liberal Party he helped shape for the last 12 years. What does that tell you about the sort of leader John Howard is?

  • In the interview, 'honest Johny' looked so defensive and little. No sound mind is going to believe what he says to explain away his 12_ years of divisive, racist and weak leadership.

  • I'm glad he didnt sign kyoto dont believe in it and it failed anyway. Now they have the copenhagen treaty which our media wont talk because its going to create a world government if we all sign and our own PM is on board. The very man who strongly believes in this fable called Climate Change hasnt mentioned The Copenhagen Treaty to his country. Oh but he did mention that an ETS will prevent the climate crisis... sounds to me like a cash grab.

  • "i'm talking about symbolic moments" ... good one.. lets forget about the masses of LEGAL and successful migration program and discuss symbolic moments?!? the interviewer's a dope.

  • The interviewing is among the very best, and is highly awarded and respected globally.

Australia, and its inhabitants are NOT well respected globally. A large portion of blame falls to John Howard.

  • sounds pretty biased to me, the journo sounds liked he's trying to railroad John Howard! I have watched some episodes in the past which were a little better and less biased.

Australians are amongst the most well respected in the parts of the world where I frequently travel (namely Asia/America), the media isn't always telling us the truth. I've lived in Australia for 13 years now and I've never experienced any racism.

  • @SylvieKloot That is absolute bollocks. This is the same interviewer (his name's stephen sackur) who said that 'muslims in the netherlands are as dutch as any dutchman'. Now I'm no muslim hater, nor am I a racist, but anyone who thinks that muslims in the netherlands are well integrated into dutch society is a fucking retard. I'm not saying all the interviews that stephen has done are bad, but he does reveal himself to be oblivious and slightly ignorant. P.S. Everyone loves Australians.

  • @SylvieKloot I'm an Aussie. I've travelled around the world and I have recieved nothing but warm vibes from many people of many countries. Stop being so mopey.
