@masterpatric07 Not everything. SF3 Double Impact was great, but SFA3, MvC1, and especially SF3TS were far less than ideal ports on Dreamcast. It wasn't until the Street Fighter Collections for PS2 and X-Box came out that Third Strike got a near perfect port. And the first arcade accurate Street Fighter Alpha 3 that was released in the US was SFA3 Max for PSP, followed by SFA3/SFA3 Upper in SFA Anthology.
@darknight068 Just thought I'd say, isn't the Saturn version still at the forefront of all the SFA3 ports?
And while yes, the PS2 and Xbox versions of 3S are closer to the arcade, I'm failing to see what was wrong with the DC version, players getting sand in their asses because they can't pull off Daigo-esque parries?
@strykah92 Nope, the PSP version of A3 Max was the first actually arcade accurate version of the game released in the US, and it had perks over the Saturn game.
As far as DC 3S, if you've played the arcade one extensively the difference is night and day. 3S for DC just flat out didn't feel correct.
@darknight068 Well I've played the Arcade ver on a CPS3 emulator, and that seemed the least correct version of the game, the controls were unresponsive as hell even on my trusty USB Saturn pad. But thats emulators for you. At the time SFIII was actually in the arcades, I was relatively young and Capcom had lost all grasp on the term 'advertising'.
But I don't think versions of fighters should be solely judged on how arcade perfect they are, look at SoulCalibur, Tekken Tag and Virtua Fighter 3.
@strykah92 It's all about playing the actual game, as emulators can have issues doing certain things if the PC isn't up to the task for whatever reason, or if certain functions aren't emulated correctly. As stated before, SF3DI with NG and SI was perfect which made us wonder about 3S.
As far as those three titles you mentioned, people complained all day about Virtua Fighter 3 DC. Sega didn't make the game in-house like with the rest of them, which showed all throughout it's gameplay.
@darknight068 My main PC runs with a Tri-core CPU, 4GB RAM and a shit-ton of other beastly crap I don't know about, the only thing that's lacking atm is the graphics card, but still, it's either shoddy emulation or it just can't function with pads that well. But anyway, I've said before the Dreamcast version was bettered by it's Xbox and PS2 brethren, but once again, us Europeans got screwed and the PS2 version was a no-show. So the DC version gets the job done, Xbox pads are hassle.
@darknight068 Oh and btw, I'll salute DI anyday of the week, up until getting it I never knew how to play SF games properly, all I ever used to do is spam Honda and Blanka, but I guess with them out of the picture, something had to be done, xD
It's ironic though, it was one of the first DC games I had, yet I didn't get to play 3rd Strike until around 2007, maybe that's why I'm less picky about the DC version of 3S.
@strykah92 As for the Namco titles, usually their home conversions are considered the next revision of their titles. Ex, Soul Calibur 2 when brought home, was considered ver. E. Even despite this, the CORE game isn't changed, that's why these ports are adopted with little to no fuss despite the changes.
3S DC was advertised to be THE home conversion of the arcade title, not a revision, so when people play it and realize that the game is slower...
@strykah92 ...less fluid, and a LOT of stuff that supposed to work doesn't anymore, of course people got upset. At this point you're playing a completely different game than what it's supposed to be. As I've said before DI didn't have this problem, DI was outstanding! That's what puzzled people more than anything, and that's not even counting the graphics glitches and other calamities.
why looks the PS3 version so bad? this DC looks great!!! Fuck i need a Dreamcast!
