Both, I need immediate health care or I die, long-term for survival of the human race, so we need to control over population and congress before they get us in a Nuclear War.

Space exploration compared to a lot of the shit we spend money on only costs a bit. Colonizing the Moon and Mars will help to catalyze technology which we can use to fix our home planet. It also gives us a common goal which will no doubt help to unify humanity. I agree we need to end nuclear proliferation. Id rather pay more in taxes for universal Healthcare or see our defense budget diminished than see the death of a space program which is after more than 30 years just getting back on its feet
