Yeah I'm pretty excited about the basketball team this year. Football lost both coordinators, DC to Auburn and OC resigned. Brewster is talking about a much better offense for next year, more focus on running the ball. We'll see, new stadium will be great though.
T Jackson is not an NFL starter in this league, better as a back-up. Hopefully the Vikings get a free-agent QB because they are ready to win now at most other positions.

Seems like there have been several teams that have actually won Super Bowls with journeyman veteran QBs. I get really nervous when Javaris is playing...but his upside is tremendous. Gus is steady. This Vikings team needs 'steady.' Hold the turnovers to one or less...and then I agree with you about the Vikings winning. It'll be interesting to see if Adrian P. can get some decent runs against Philly. That will also be a big factor. The baggie should be rockin' on Sunday.

I couldn't believe I was pulling for GB in that game but wasn't surprised by seeing them blow yet another 4th quarter lead. Bears are terrible and would have been an embarrasement to watch in the playoffs, kinda like Arizona.
We had a really down year with 5 losses. We're not used to it. You're right. We lost to 2 or 3 bad teams, by our standards. We don't play your schedule. No OSU, etc.

You can trust that I have been a Gopher fan for about 35 yrs. They were my DI team. I just didn't like the 'we only lost to the Bison because we're bad' line, rather than "congratulations, you deserved to win."
The vid, lol, never had an emotional attachment, just replying to you. Gophers lost in madison, where they have always had trouble. Gophers also lost to a terrible Michigan team. They did, however, finish 7-5, which is 6 more wins then last year. NDSU also lost to some terrible teams.

I would agree that Minnesota was terrible. About half the teams that we've played in the past few years have been more talented. Ball State, Central Michigan, Northern Iowa, South Dakota State, Southern Illinois, Cal Poly, UC Davis...to name just some. Minnesota was far from being the best. 585 yards for NDSU against MN in 2007. Twice as many yards as MN gained in both games combined. LOL

For as much as you dispise MN for reasons I will never understand, it still was NDSU's "super bowl" in both those games, which is comical because it is living proof that NDSU will never be up to par with Minnesota however good or bad they might be.
MN is mid-level FBS. Top FCS teams are as good or better. App St & a few others are better than MN. They have more talent. The Bison were more talented than the Gophers in 06 & 07. In 08 we lacked a top QB.
Games like Cal Poly vs Wisc, NDSU vs MN, & App St vs Michigan are more common.
FBS teams are becoming less anxious to schedule top FCS teams.

Minnesota is a mid-level FBS program. The top FCS programs are very comparable to the caliber of football that Minnesota plays. NDSU was not an upper-level FCS team this year.
Until MM competes consistently with Ohio State, Michigan (normally), and Penn State...they will be a mid-level program...very similar to upper FCS teams.

We have enjoyed having a DI caliber program under the title of DII. We don't have the recruiting edge that Minnesota has, so we don't expect to be just like an FBS program. But we are over-achievers. We didn't pull out of the matchup. Gopher offense was ranked #18 in the nation when we beat. We gained more yards than any of the Big Eleven teams. My hunch is that Northern Iowa and Western Illinois are similar in talent to this year's Gopher team. They've been the best program in Iowa the last few years.

Doesn't matter what division we were in. The caliber of football was DI. The two games against MN, pounding Central Michigan, & beating Ball State...all within the last 2 years, proved something.

When we were playing the Gophers I would go onto the gopherhole blog every couple of days. Some Gopher fans came on the Bison blog. They put down the entire state. Never saw that from Bison fans on either blog. Gopher fans have a chip on their shoulder. Most people in downtown Minneapolis could care less about the Gophers...so there wouldn't be a lot of attitude. When you go to Fargo, it's like going to Big Red country in Lincoln. I apologize for the Bison fans that acted like jerks.

In D2, I was a fan of the Bison. We were proud to be able to play with a DI program. I understand the emotions. Wish you'd try to understand ours. We moved up & beat 3 DI teams in 3 yrs. All 3 have been ranked this yr.

When I see MN in the Rose Bowl I will be equally shocked. I realize how much losing to North Dakota State hurt, so I understand your problem. U of M is inner-city...run-down part of the city. It's really not a traditional campus. One of the reasons you have trouble is the lack of 'community.' MN can't control its players. Fact is...the Bison beat the tar out of MN. 585 yards in 2007. More than the Gophers in both games combined. Are your players writing their own papers these days?

Division II wasn't as bad as you think. We thrashed the Gophers in 2006, but didn't play our normal game in the red zone. That was a bowl team, if I remember correctly. Your 2007 offense was ranked very high nationally. We stuffed it. This wasn't our best Bison team. Some of the championship teams were machines. The short series showed that the Gophers have nothing over the Bison. NDSU fans typically don't care about hockey. Bison football is the game.
Your offense was ranked highly in DI. Appalachian State beat Michigan at their house. NDSU was ranked ahead of App. State in the polls the whole year. We weren't eligible for the playoffs, so we could go head to head with them. This was a pretty normal Gophers team. Good offensive numbers. We stuffed the Gophers better than most Big Ten teams did. The Big Ten is over-rated.

The last years have been tough to watch, but it's obvious that Tubby has it going. NDSU came down and played USC in DEC. MN was better.

Yeah I'm pretty excited about the basketball team this year. Football lost both coordinators, DC to Auburn and OC resigned. Brewster is talking about a much better offense for next year, more focus on running the ball. We'll see, new stadium will be great though.
T Jackson is not an NFL starter in this league, better as a back-up. Hopefully the Vikings get a free-agent QB because they are ready to win now at most other positions.
Retirement in MN sounds cool, I still have 20 + years lol.

Seems like there have been several teams that have actually won Super Bowls with journeyman veteran QBs. I get really nervous when Javaris is playing...but his upside is tremendous. Gus is steady. This Vikings team needs 'steady.' Hold the turnovers to one or less...and then I agree with you about the Vikings winning. It'll be interesting to see if Adrian P. can get some decent runs against Philly. That will also be a big factor. The baggie should be rockin' on Sunday.

Pat is committed to playing on Sunday. I think he'll be a force, the guy is a flat out beast. Jackson is starting, but don't be surprised to see Gus if Tavaris is a train wreck. Eagles looked amazing last week but were one of the most inconsistent teams in the NFL this year. It should be a dandy but I like the Vikings at home.

We had a really down year with 5 losses. We're not used to it. You're right. We lost to 2 or 3 bad teams, by our standards. We don't play your schedule. No OSU, etc.
If we don't solve the QB situation, we'll be there again.
You can trust that I have been a Gopher fan for about 35 yrs. They were my DI team. I just didn't like the 'we only lost to the Bison because we're bad' line, rather than "congratulations, you deserved to win."

The vid, lol, never had an emotional attachment, just replying to you. Gophers lost in madison, where they have always had trouble. Gophers also lost to a terrible Michigan team. They did, however, finish 7-5, which is 6 more wins then last year. NDSU also lost to some terrible teams.

Here's a fundamental thing in athletics, in terms of sportsmanship. When you lose to someone, show them respect by giving them credit vs. putting down your own efforts. It's taught at the little league level.

Wisconsin was terrible this year! It's one thing to play a good big ten team when they are good, it's quite another when they aren't. (also my point in the NDSU/MN games).
MN fans, for the most part, were stunned at the outcome of the NDSU games. I wouldn't say they showed bad sportsmanship.

OK...I dislike the attitude from MN fans who belittled the Bison win. MN had the 18th ranked offense in 2007 when we played. We gained more yards than most Big Ten teams did. Cal Poly proved it at Wisc. this fall.

I would agree that Minnesota was terrible. About half the teams that we've played in the past few years have been more talented. Ball State, Central Michigan, Northern Iowa, South Dakota State, Southern Illinois, Cal Poly, UC Davis...to name just some. Minnesota was far from being the best. 585 yards for NDSU against MN in 2007. Twice as many yards as MN gained in both games combined. LOL
I watched the Wisconsin & Iowa games this fall. Amazing improvement by the Gophers.

MN is mid-level FBS. Top FCS teams are as good or better. App St & a few others are better than MN. They have more talent. The Bison were more talented than the Gophers in 06 & 07. In 08 we lacked a top QB.
Games like Cal Poly vs Wisc, NDSU vs MN, & App St vs Michigan are more common.
FBS teams are becoming less anxious to schedule top FCS teams.

Minnesota is a mid-level FBS program. The top FCS programs are very comparable to the caliber of football that Minnesota plays. NDSU was not an upper-level FCS team this year.
Until MM competes consistently with Ohio State, Michigan (normally), and Penn State...they will be a mid-level program...very similar to upper FCS teams.

We're not playing Iowa State. Our A.D. is trying to schedule one FBS team a year. Finding a date and a team that wants to play us has been a challenge. Names like Ohio State & Nebraska have been mentioned.

I'll bet that an SEC team would love to have the Gophers at their house. Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, USC, Oregon, Cal, and others would probably let you come to town.

How would you know that it was the best team we've ever had? Did you go to 3/4 of the games since 1962? Doubt it. It was a mistake to play Moorhead. It could have been 100+ if we hadn't gone to the third string by halftime. We hurt them. But anyway Josho...you're a little maroon boy. You don't win arguments. I don't think that the Bison will always be better than the Gophers. I just would like a little respect for the accomplishments at North Dakota State. We have enjoyed having a DI caliber program under the title of DII. We don't have the recruiting edge that Minnesota has, so we don't expect to be just like an FBS program. But we are over-achievers. The tradition, at our level, is great. We're not the little green men that Brewster talked about. That was insulting. Proved him & Sid wrong.

You were embarrassed to lose to NDSU. We celebrated beating a Big Ten team...regardless of how much they sucked. It was especially cool because we beat our neighbors to the east. We do not deserve a ranking in the FCS this year. I agree. We're not an upper-level FCS team this year.

We didn't pull out of the matchup. Gopher offense was ranked #18 in the nation when we beat. We gained more yards than any of the Big Eleven teams. My hunch is that Northern Iowa and Western Illinois are similar in talent to this year's Gopher team. They've been the best program in Iowa the last few years.
We've been struggling through a quarterback change and a rash of injuries to some of our team leaders, with Tyler Roehl being the main one.

Now...isn't what happened with Northwestern typical of the Gophers...you know...snatching defeat from the jaws of victory? I lived in Hutchinson, MN for close to 20 years, and actually was a Gophers fan...especially in basketball. Went to a ton of Gophers basketball & football games. Watched most of them on TV. I'm really not anti-Gophers...but the attitude from Gopherland toward the state of North Dakota is obnoxious. It is a 'fact' that the Gophers have a history of ending games poorly.

We used to have a rivalry with UND that was off the chart. Not totally naive to this type of thing. But we're not rivals. Remember? I've heard rumors that the series might be picked up again. I look forward to it. Your new stadium was a great move. Part of the Gophers' problem has been not having a stadium on campus. Seriously, I don't envy the Gophers having to face OSU, PSU, or Michigan. Their recruiting base is right there. They could throw darts at a board & recruit well.

You had the 18th ranked passing attack in DI when this game was played. In 2006 the Gophs went to a bowl. We've had a football program capable of playing with the Gophers since the 60s. Doesn't matter what division we were in. The caliber of football was DI. The two games against MN, pounding Central Michigan, & beating Ball State...all within the last 2 years, proved something.
How many teams in DI hockey? I'm no UND fan. Most Bison fans could care less about hockey.

Didn't say we could play with OSU year to year. But we sure as hell beat MN, at their house. Not comparing OSU to NDSU. I'm refering to one of your two losses, and the weak schedule. PSU is strong. The rest are very average.

OSU played terrible in that game but last I checked, they went down to the wire with Penn St and have won a couple championships in recent memory.

We beat the piss out of MN two years in a row. 585 yards offense in 07...more than MN gained on us in both years combined. The upset was in 06 when MN beat NDSU. Have you watched App. St? Didn't say anyone in the Big 11. Said they could play with most teams. Didn't say the MVFC was better than the Big 11. Said two teams could play with most teams. You are right. The FBS & FCS are not the same. Good josh. Upper-level FCS teams can play with most FBS programs...but not the elite ones. App. State is the exception. They are an FBS-level team that could play with most. That's been my argument. We were an upper-level FCS team in 06 and 07. Not this year.

Hopefully, the Gophers can come back so I can see if the MN fans celebrate or just walk out. That would include the players.

When we were playing the Gophers I would go onto the gopherhole blog every couple of days. Some Gopher fans came on the Bison blog. They put down the entire state. Never saw that from Bison fans on either blog. Gopher fans have a chip on their shoulder. Most people in downtown Minneapolis could care less about the Gophers...so there wouldn't be a lot of attitude. When you go to Fargo, it's like going to Big Red country in Lincoln. I apologize for the Bison fans that acted like jerks.

All 3 have been ranked this yr.

When I see MN in the Rose Bowl I will be equally shocked. I realize how much losing to North Dakota State hurt, so I understand your problem. U of M is inner-city...run-down part of the city. It's really not a traditional campus. One of the reasons you have trouble is the lack of 'community.' MN can't control its players. Fact is...the Bison beat the tar out of MN. 585 yards in 2007. the line was was 9.5 for the bison for the second meeting, it was not an upset, thats the thing that happens when players quit, transfer, and all the freshman get plenty of time to see if they will be around the following year, beating michigan is a lot different than ndsu beating the gophers, little brown jug is kind of a big deal even if the gophers have only won it once in 20 years

Too bad the score didn't show it in 06 & 07. The Bison gained 585 yards in this game, more than the Gophers gained in 06 & 07 combined. The Bison deserved this day in the spotlight. You're the one in denial. I bring up Michigan because I'd like to make a comparison. It's a fair question. You lose to Michigan most of the time...same with Ohio State. Beating them would a big deal, right? You've criticized Bison fans for celebrating the win over what you call a lousy Minnesota team. What if Michigan had a really lousy year...and you beat them. Would you celebrate it? Would it be a big deal? Would Gopher fans go a little nuts...even if Michigan is down?

Division II wasn't as bad as you think. We thrashed the Gophers in 2006, but didn't play our normal game in the red zone. That was a bowl team, if I remember correctly. Your 2007 offense was ranked very high nationally. We stuffed it. This wasn't our best Bison team. Some of the championship teams were machines. The short series showed that the Gophers have nothing over the Bison. NDSU fans typically don't care about hockey. Bison football is the game.

Your offense was ranked highly in DI. Appalachian State beat Michigan at their house. NDSU was ranked ahead of App. State in the polls the whole year. We weren't eligible for the playoffs, so we could go head to head with them. This was a pretty normal Gophers team. Good offensive numbers. We stuffed the Gophers better than most Big Ten teams did. The Big Ten is over-rated.

Yeah OSU, Michigan, and Wisconsin are really overrated. These three teams are consistently in the top 20. It's laughable that you would make such retarded comments.

I watch all kinds of football. I even used to cheer for the Gophers. No more. It's the superiority thing. What you wrote about the three teams...that's why I call it the Big Three. But Appalachian State beat Michigan at their house this year. The Bison gained more yards in the last game than the Gophers did in both games. It had to be humiliating. Maybe the Gophs can compete for 7th place this year, and a toilet bowl game.

If Michigan visited App. State every other year, I'd say more like 6-4 Michigan out of 10 years, or 7-3. In a home & home with Minnesota, the Bison & Gophers would split. You haven't had a strong DI program for decades. You're a basketball school. NDSU is a football school. I've watched a lot of Gopher football. Have you seen the Bison play besides at the Gophers games? We've been a DI program in disguise since the 60s.

No matter how you cut it dude...North Dakota State defeated the U of M last fall. It was a statistical drubbing. I didn't say that Michigan had a down year in the Big 3. Don't put words in to my mouth. If Minnesota beat a 2-10 Michigan team, you'd be thrilled because you did it. There's be no asterisk. We beat a Big Ten team. The scoreboard didn't show how terrible the beating was. Unfortunate

You've had one hell of a lot of worst years since Warmath left town. You've rung up some wins over weak programs and squeaked out a few wins in the Big 3 to become eligible for a toilet bowl. Those would be the 'up' years that Minnesota has had in about 40+ years.

Good excuse. But that's normal coming from a Gopher fan. You've all become really good at excuses since Warmath left town, sometime in the middle of the last century. Many Bison teams would have beaten the Gophers badly. Remember, we're not rivals, so don't be so upset.

The Bison dominated the field and the crowd dominated the dome. We've had a better football program at NDSU for several decades. We finally got a couple of chances to show it. It was a total dismantling, even though the score didn't show it. Did you know that the Bison gained more yards in the 07 game than the Gophers did in both games combined? I don't blame Minnesota for not wanting us on the schedule. If I was them, I wouldn't want the Bison on the schedule. Too embarrassing.

North Dakota State isn't in D2. We're in DI-AA now...the same division as Appalachian State...you know...the team that beat Michigan at their house. We were ranked higher than them during the regular season...but we weren't eligible for the playoffs yet. Some of our D2 teams would have had the Gophers for lunch. I'm talking about decades. The best football program in this part of the country has been at North Dakota State for quite a while.

Upper midwest last year...to answer your question. You didn't transfer from NDSU because of jokers like me, because I didn't go there. I went to Concordia in Moorhead. I'm just a Bison football fan. I don't care about Fargo South football. Never have. Note that I said, "this part of the country." You puts words into my mouth using just the word 'country' in another reply. Since the early 60s, the Bison have been the most dominant FB program in the upper midwest. It's in black & white.

this is comparing apples and oranges! ndsu has been very insignificant since 1990 when they won their last nat'l title! und has owned ndsu and still has the nickel. cant compare ndsu and the U other than the 2 games they played and yes ndsu should have won both,but they didnt and like you said they were favorite in the game they won. when your a favorite does that mean its an upset? and you cant believe that being good in d2 means anything nationally i can respect loyalty but dont act a fool
